An update about voice, memory, and order in your events. There are now 38 neural TTS voices instead of ten — from game characters to new narrators — each previewable right in the list, and numbers are finally read out as proper words. The chat has learned to remember viewers: a person's first message ever gets a "FIRST MESSAGE" badge, and restarting the app doesn't wipe that memory. Events from donation services no longer show up and get voiced twice, donations via the donatty group link arrive again, and Twitch bits became a fully configurable event. Plus ten new game-mode themes, visible keyword highlighting, a "don't ask again" checkbox in the exit dialog, and a clear "VK / VK Live / VK Video" name for the VK connector.
Speech
There are now 38 neural voices — up from 10. 28 new ones: game and pop-culture characters (Geralt, Pudge, Kerrigan, Queen of Pain and more) plus new narrator voices. Each has a proper name in the list, so picking a voice to match your channel's vibe got much easier.
Preview any voice right in the list. Every entry in the dropdown got a ▶ button — the sample plays immediately, no applying settings or separate "Testing" needed. A spinner shows while the sample is being prepared.
Numbers are read out as words. "987654" is spoken as a number, "-5" as "minus five", "3.5" with its fraction. Previously numbers came out garbled or in the wrong language.
A separate voice per event type. In notification template settings you can now pick a TTS voice individually for donations, subscriptions, follows and any other event type — instead of one global voice for everything. Resetting the choice returns the global voice.
Sound first, then voice — by default. The notification sound and the spoken text no longer overlap: the event sound plays out fully, then the reading starts. The setting is still there if you preferred the overlap.
Neural synthesis quality settings. An "auto / fast / high quality" mode, a toggle for improved pronunciation (dictionary stresses and text analysis), and trimming of trailing silence — tune the speed/quality balance for your machine.
A personal herald sound for a viewer. You can assign a viewer their own sound that plays before their messages — independent of the global message-sound settings.
A "sound only, no voice" entry no longer disappears. If a viewer had a personal sound but no personal voice, that row silently vanished on the next settings save. The voice list now has a "Default voice" option, and the entry saves properly.
Speech (continued)
A viewer's personal volume isn't clobbered mid-phrase. While a viewer's phrase with personal volume is playing, toggling mute or moving the master slider no longer overwrites it with the global value.
Pronunciation odds and ends. Emoji-only messages no longer "click" in the TTS, ALL-CAPS words are pronounced correctly, and on Linux the settings now show the reason and the install command if the system speech engine is missing — instead of just staying silent.
Chat and appearance
The "FIRST MESSAGE" badge. When a viewer writes in your chat for the very first time — ever, not per session — their message gets a visible badge: you instantly spot the newcomer worth greeting. The memory survives app restarts; works in the chat window, game mode and the OBS widget, and toggles in appearance settings.
Keyword highlighting is actually visible now. A match used to light up the message with a barely noticeable frame — many assumed the feature didn't work at all. Now the matched word itself gets a bright label right in the text (in all windows and the widget), with the frame remaining as a second, quieter signal. Also fixed: a stray space in the keyword list acted as an "empty" keyword and highlighted every single message.
Ten new game-mode themes: Neko, Kawaii, Biolab, Mochi, Yoru, Koi, Dragon Sword, Battlefield 6, The Lord of the Rings and Ragnarok — each with its own message styling, platform icons and themed decor animation.
Theme changes appear in OBS immediately. An open browser source with the game widget switches to the new theme right away, without re-creating the source — it used to keep showing the old theme until a reload.
"VK / VK Live / VK Video". The VK connector was renamed so it's clear that one connector covers all VK sources — both VK Live and VK Video.
The raid viewer count is shown again in the recent events feed and the notifications widget ("nick - 25") — previously only the nickname survived.
Donations and events
Events are no longer shown twice. A follow, subscription or raid from StreamLabs, DonationAlerts, DonatePay or donatty used to arrive both as a plain text line in chat and as a configurable alert — viewers saw and heard it twice. Now there's one event: the configurable one (text, sound, voice, visibility). This also makes the custom sound assigned to such an event work — for example, your own sound for a new follower.
Donations via the donatty group embed link arrive again. With such a link the app said "Connected" as usual, but the actual donations were lost silently — the streamer never knew.
Twitch bits via StreamLabs are a full event. Visibility toggles, your own text (with correct pluralization), your own sound and voice — previously a bits message came as a plain line with no settings. Subscriptions also now distinguish new subs from renewals — each with its own text.
A custom template for any of the 13 event types in the OBS notifications widget. Previously custom styling could only be assigned to 6 types; for bits and gifts it was simply impossible.
New event types get enabled on existing channels. A channel connected before the app introduced a new event type (e.g. raids on StreamLabs) now gets it enabled automatically — it used to look manually disabled, and only re-creating the channel helped. For the same reason, follows and viewer joins/leaves on GoodGame and follows on TikTok show by default again.
The StreamLabs status tells the truth. On a connection drop the channel no longer sits silently "connected": you see "reconnecting", a recovery message, and a warning if connecting keeps failing.
Anonymous events aren't lost. An anonymous subscription or YouTube membership via donatty reaches the chat, and a nameless viewer is consistently called "Viewer".
Donations and events (continued)
A donation in an unrecognized currency no longer skews the statistics, and a re-delivered StreamLabs or DonatePay event isn't counted twice.
The log names the channel that actually connected. With two channels of the same platform, log lines are no longer attributed to the neighbor.
"Don't ask again" in the exit dialog. Tick the checkbox — and the app will close immediately from now on; the confirmation can be brought back with a toggle in General settings.
A hint for "Always on top". The setting works over games in windowed and borderless modes, but not over exclusive fullscreen — the settings now say so directly, suggesting to switch the game to borderless.
Changing a channel's platform doesn't carry settings over. If you pick another platform while editing a channel, the old platform's event settings no longer "move" to the new one — it gets its own defaults, and the old ones return if you change your mind.
Two identical channels don't confuse the app. With an accidental duplicate (one enabled, one disabled), stream status and events follow the enabled entry, not whichever came first.
Stability and data safety
Viewer memory is fault-tolerant. The storage that remembers viewers between launches (including the first-message badge) no longer disrupts the app if its file is damaged or the disk is unavailable: you get one clear notification, and the chat and everything else keep working. Recovery doesn't delete the damaged file if re-creating it failed — data is never destroyed silently. The storage runs in the background and doesn't stutter the chat even during message bursts.
Double-clicking the close button — one exit sequence. A quick double close, or closing during an auto-update, no longer launches two parallel shutdowns with extra dialogs.
Personal paths removed from the diagnostics log. File-picker errors (sounds, images) no longer write a path with your Windows account name into the log — just the error code.
"Updating the installer…" instead of "Updating the update module…". The tautology on the self-update screen is fixed — the component is now consistently called the installer.
Security
Custom theme names defused. A specially crafted custom theme name can no longer inject content into the settings window — the name is always displayed as plain text.
Donation service keys don't leak. A StreamLabs, DonationAlerts, DonatePay or donatty connection key can no longer end up in the app log (even with unusual link formats) and isn't passed in the data sent to OBS widgets; fake addresses masquerading as a donation service are recognized. Keys containing a dot are accepted properly.
Viewer storage is closed to foreign pages. Only the app's own windows can access it — content from third-party platforms loaded in connector windows cannot reach it.
An update about donations and about keeping what you configured. DonationAlerts connects again — the service changed its alerts page and the app stopped understanding it; that was the cause of the complaints about the previous version. YouTube Super Chats are back after being mis

An update about donations and about keeping what you configured. DonationAlerts connects again — the service changed its alerts page and the app stopped understanding it; that was the cause of the complaints about the previous version. YouTube Super Chats are back after being missing since early July, and amounts in currencies other than the dollar are finally calculated correctly — they used to be inflated. DonatePay no longer loses donations and StreamLabs no longer shows the same one twice. Settings stopped disappearing: the settings file now holds what you actually chose, not whatever managed to render in the window. After a dropped connection the chat no longer buries you in old messages, and your stream viewers will not see them in the widget either. The update module got an update of its own: installing into a system folder now asks for permission properly instead of looking like "I clicked and nothing happened".
Donations and events
DonationAlerts connects again. The service changed the layout of its alerts page, and the app could no longer find the connection address on it — while everything looked normal from the outside: the channel was added, no errors appeared, donations simply never arrived. The address is found again, and if the service changes something once more, the app will say plainly that the alerts link did not work instead of staying silent.
Donations and events (continued)
YouTube Super Chats and memberships are back. They had not been displayed since early July: paid viewer messages never reached the chat. Now they arrive again.
Correct Super Chat amounts in any currency. Donations in euros, rubles, hryvnia, Canadian and Australian dollars, reais and other currencies were converted incorrectly and shown inflated — in some cases by almost half. The amount now matches what the viewer actually paid.
DonatePay no longer loses donations. Some transactions could fail to reach the chat and the alerts; the list of payments is now read without gaps.
StreamLabs no longer shows the same donation twice.
A currency-rate failure no longer swallows a donation. If the rate service did not respond, the donation could previously be lost entirely. Now it still arrives, with the amount shown in its original currency.
VK (VK Video) stopped duplicating messages.
Settings and your data
Settings no longer disappear when saved. The settings window built part of its lists from whatever had already been drawn on screen, so a plain "Apply" could erase what you had set earlier — including your own alert texts. What gets saved is now your choice, not the state of the screen.
The settings file is no longer deleted because of folder-name capitalization. In a rare case the app treated its own file as foreign and removed it together with the backup, sending settings back to factory defaults.
An error in one section no longer cancels the rest. A failure while applying one group of settings could previously stop saving entirely.
A channel added in the same session can be removed again — previously it could only be removed after restarting the settings window.
Widget settings survive a restart and are no longer lost or duplicated.
After a dropped connection the chat no longer buries you in old messages. Missed messages are delivered only for the length of the outage, not from the start of the stream — and exactly once.
Viewers will not see old messages in the widget. When the OBS browser source reloaded, the widget could show chat history, including messages hidden by your filters. The widget now starts clean on reload, and filters apply to what was already received.
Game mode and the events widget stay quiet about history too — it belongs in the chat window, not in an overlay on top of your game.
The "in chat" counter shows an honest number.
Connecting to platforms
Connecting no longer fails silently. If something goes wrong at any step, the app says so in the channel log in plain words instead of leaving the channel in silence.
Reconnection survives changes to the channel list — editing a neighbouring channel no longer disrupts it.
Speech
Neural voices now have their own section and are not mixed with system and server voices.
The voice used to finish reading after a failure is now chosen in settings instead of being fixed.
The update window no longer gets lost behind other windows. It is now shown on top of the rest: previously the update prompt could slip under the app's splash screen or any open window, and from the outside it looked as if nothing had happened.
Installing and updating into a system folder ask for permission properly. On a computer where the app is installed in Program Files, an update used to look like "I clicked and nothing happened": the window disappeared and the permission prompt went unnoticed. Now the window stays put, the action button shows the administrator badge, and after you confirm, the usual progress follows. On Linux the same flow uses the system password prompt.
The installation you launched the update from is the one that gets updated — if you have several on the computer, the others are left alone.
Shortcuts stop disappearing. Uninstalling removes only its own shortcut, and updating restores them if they went missing.
A second copy under another Windows session no longer blocks the update.
"Check integrity" no longer asks for administrator rights when it does not need them, and when they really are missing it says so in plain words.
The update module now updates itself. That makes future updates more reliable: fixes to the mechanism take effect right away instead of one release later.
If a new update module turns out to be broken, the app still updates and keeps the working one — an installation is never left without updates.
Uninstalling does not touch anything extra and does not affect data belonging to other installations.
Security
Your channel key is never shown on screen. Links containing the access key no longer appear in the chat, in the OBS widget or in tooltips — so they cannot end up on camera during a stream.

An update about staying out of your way. VK connects again, Rutube finds a live stream from a channel link, and there is a new platform — w.tv. Speech stopped reading routine noise out loud, and your chosen voice no longer disappears on its own. The floods of error windows that could bring a machine to its knees are gone. An update no longer lands on top of a running app — it closes itself, and other installations are left alone. And paid features no longer vanish from the interface without explanation: they are shown greyed out with a note.
Connecting to platforms
VK connects again. Signing in was broken, including for accounts on the .ru domain. Both domains now work.
Channels no longer get stuck "checking". A single failed check used to be remembered forever: until a restart the app stopped contacting the platform and kept showing the same result, even once the stream was already live. Now a failure is not remembered, and waiting for an answer is time-limited.
You can tell what actually went wrong. VK failures all used to look the same; the app now distinguishes a bad link, no live stream, an unresponsive platform and a required sign-in — and says so plainly.
Rutube finds a live stream from a channel link. It used to answer "the channel is not streaming" while the stream was running. A live broadcast is now looked up several ways, and links like /live/video/… and /u/ are understood as they are. Failure messages stopped claiming things the app never checked.
A new platform — w.tv. Chat connects without signing in; events and labels are the same as on other platforms.
Trovo. The platform has shut down, so we removed support for it.
Connecting to platforms (continued)
Messages written while the connection was down are no longer lost on Kick and VK: after an automatic reconnect what was missed arrives exactly once, without being read aloud a second time.
Speech
Routine events are no longer read aloud. Channel connection notices and "joined / left the chat" messages were spoken out loud and turned into a constant stream on a busy broadcast. They now have their own "Do not speak" switch, enabled by default; if you did want them spoken, one checkbox brings it back. Display and logging are unchanged.
Your chosen voice no longer disappears. When the voice list on the server was updated, your chosen voice could silently switch to another one. The choice is now kept, and a voice that is gone from the list is marked unavailable with a note on what to do.
Remaining quota is reported honestly. While the data is still being fetched you see "Checking remaining quota…" instead of a blank; on a connection failure the app says so and retries by itself.
Repeated channel status messages are no longer duplicated — instead of a run of identical lines you get one.
Updates and installation
An update no longer lands on top of a running app. Updating over a running app could previously run into files being in use. The app now closes itself before files are replaced — and it is exactly the one being updated that closes: other installations on the same computer, including a copy from Steam, are left untouched.
File verification and repair behave the same way. If verification found damaged files and you agreed to repair them, the app closes first. Verification without repair closes nothing.
Steam users can see the update centre. The menu item was hidden specifically for them, even though checking for updates manually did work.
No more "update to the same version" offers. A Steam installation did not know its own build number, so the app sometimes offered an update from nothing in particular.
Clear states in the update window. "You are on the latest version", "this channel has no releases", a malformed server response and an already-downloaded update are now each described plainly — the last one used to look like "you are up to date" and never installed.
Paid features and interface
Paid features no longer vanish without explanation. Notification services, some channel events and the neural voices simply disappeared from the settings on a free account — which looked like a malfunction. They are now shown greyed out, marked "in the paid version", with an explanation of what they do. Access to the features themselves is unchanged.
The tab describing the paid version opens again and explains what the subscription includes.
The chat window logo has its own switch now — it used to be tied to a different setting; the default behaviour is unchanged. The note about advertising is shown again to the people it is meant for.
Saving settings to a file always answers — on success and on failure, with a reason; a failure used to do nothing at all.
The interface font is no longer swapped out on a slow connection — on a weak connection some windows could be drawn in the wrong font.
Stability
A flood of error windows is now impossible. A single repeating error could open a dozen identical windows in a row, fill the log with hundreds of megabytes a minute and lock the machine up so hard that the app could only be killed. Identical errors now collapse into a single window with a clear restart button, and the log no longer grows without bound: repeats are folded together and the folder size is capped.
The first error of a session is kept separately. Even if a storm followed, the very first one — the one that started it all — stays in the log in full and reaches the support archive. That file used to be deleted on every log cleanup, so the mechanism did not actually work.
The app keeps writing its log even if system output goes away — that alone used to become a source of endless errors.
Settings and data
A channel from a discontinued platform survives saving. Such an entry could silently disappear on an ordinary "Apply" — along with the channel picked for polls and giveaways and the emoji-set settings.
Dropdowns no longer slide to the first value. If the saved option is gone from the list, the app no longer silently substitutes whatever comes first.
The widget header setting stopped toggling itself. A disabled header sometimes came back enabled after saving.
Outdated entries in the settings file are cleaned up on update, without getting in the way of anything new.
1.12.4 has been rolled out to all update channels at once — just launch sheepChat and it will offer the update itself. An update no longer lands on top of a running app: it closes itself neatly and comes back updated.
A reminder about the Steam update channels: Default — the stable version for everyone (currently 1.12.4); Beta — early testing (currently 1.12.4); Nightly — the freshest builds (currently 1.12.4). This time all three are the same.
How to switch: Steam → right-click sheepChat → Properties → Betas → pick a channel from the list.

🐑 sheepChat 1.12.3
A cumulative update since 1.11.5. The headline is moderation: mute, ban and ignore now stick to the viewer account rather than a changeable nickname, a ban also stops speech, message removal reaches every window and the OBS widget, and platforms show what a moderator did. Plus built-in auto-update, premium lifelike voices, a command palette with customizable hotkeys, reworked polls and nearly twice-faster startup.
Viewer mute, ban and ignore
A restriction now sticks to the account, not the display name. Renaming no longer lifts a ban or mute, and an unrelated viewer with the same name is no longer hit by it.
A ban now also stops speech, and a mute cuts the reading off immediately — but only for the muted viewer; someone else's phrase is no longer interrupted.
Message removal now reaches every window and the OBS widget — including a message that had not been rendered yet, and a widget that reconnected after a dropout.
Ignore and mute now also cover text inside events — a donation message, for example.
Ignore can finally be lifted by command — by voice, from the command palette or with a hotkey; previously only by editing the list in settings.
Restrictions work from the very first message after startup, and one corrupted list entry no longer breaks mute and ban for everyone.
Moderation on platforms
YouTube and VK now show that a message was removed instead of it silently disappearing; GoodGame reports bans, timeouts and unbans — with the reason when the platform sends one.
A moderator clearing the chat now really clears the feed, including for your stream viewers in OBS.
Incomplete moderation data is no longer guessed at: Kick still removes the viewer's messages, and GoodGame no longer confuses a timeout with an unban.
Auto-update and installation
Built-in auto-update. sheepChat updates itself: when a new version ships it offers to update and downloads only what changed, not the whole distribution.
One permanent link for install and updates — the app downloads and installs everything itself.
One-click update — the update module updates itself when needed and does not ask a second time.
Updates work fully on Linux: the new-version notice at startup and the Update Center in the menu and in the About window. Linux also gets an installer in a .tar.gz archive — the file stays runnable straight out of it.
Installation is more resilient to antivirus software: a brief file lock no longer aborts the update.
Startup
Nearly twice-faster startup — about 1.9 seconds instead of 3.5.
If startup fails, you now see why: a window with the cause and buttons "Restart", "Close", "Open logs folder" instead of a silent hang.
Fixed the "endless loading screen"; problematic audio hardware no longer stalls startup.
Command palette and hotkeys
Command palette. Press the tilde key in settings to search app actions and settings tabs — type a couple of letters and hit Enter. Search handles the wrong keyboard layout and asks for anything missing (which channel, for example).
Any action can get its own hotkey. The "Hotkeys" tab: assign combinations by clicking, reset to defaults, or unbind. Conflicts can't be created.
The "Ignore viewer" and "Mute viewer" commands now also work when several channels are connected — the command asks which one to use.
A refused command is now visible: the palette keeps the reason on screen, while a hotkey or tray item shows a notification. Replies come in your interface language.
Polls
Polls are no longer tied to an open window — closing the window no longer resets the votes.
The OBS widget doesn't hang and honestly shows "No poll running" when there is none.
Setup errors are visible right away: missing options or platforms — the app tells you at startup instead of staying silent.
Counting is fixed: case no longer matters, "12" goes to option "12" not "1"; an option with an empty command no longer swallows all chat messages.
Polls can be controlled by hotkey and palette; an accidental restart doesn't wipe already-cast votes.
Text-to-speech
Premium lifelike voices for chat and event narration (available after signing in via Steam). Synthesis is more reliable: the app recovers from failures on its own and doesn't go silent for long.
Volume 0 finally means silence — zero on the slider was replaced with 100%, so a viewer you wanted silenced was read at full volume.
A stray empty row in the allow list no longer switches on "read only selected viewers" and silences the whole chat.
"Assign a voice" from chat now works right after startup, keeps the personal volume you set and no longer creates a second entry for the same viewer.
Platform chats
TikTok: duplicates removed — messages and events (subs, gifts, joins) no longer double up. Twitch: the chat is resilient to connection drops and recovers messages missed during the drop.
OK.ru no longer falls into a crash-and-reconnect loop; Steam and YouTube no longer hang silently on "Connecting…"; VK Video explains what it is doing instead of a frozen status check.
Messages written while the connection was down are delivered exactly once — nothing lost, nothing read aloud twice (OK.ru, Picarto, Trovo, GoodGame).
Rutube now explains clearly why a chat is unavailable.
OBS widgets
Chat widgets no longer lose messages during a brief connection drop and don't show duplicates; after reconnecting they catch up on removals they missed.
Nicknames wrap by words, as they do in the app; a double click removes exactly the message you clicked.
Widgets now receive only their own settings, not the app's entire settings set.
Settings
Opening the settings window no longer rolls back a ban you just applied and no longer wipes the row you are filling in.
Empty rows are no longer saved into lists, a new row gets your channel's platform, and a channel of a discontinued platform no longer disappears on save.
A failure while filling the window is now reported — previously "Apply" in that state could write empty settings.
A setting changed right before the app closes is no longer lost. OBS widget links update when the port changes, and hints and notifications are tidier.
Interface
The interface language is detected from the system on first launch.
The status bar no longer shows already-disabled channels, and "Always on top" no longer switches off when you close a second chat window.
The app log no longer grows without bound — capped at 10 MB with the previous file kept.
Privacy
Stronger data protection: the app log no longer collects the content of other people's messages or paths to your files, and less unnecessary information ends up in the support archive.
Linux
Minimum requirements raised to Ubuntu 24.04 / Debian 13 (and newer) — for more reliable operation of the app and auto-update.

Version 1.11.4
The headline of this update: YouTube chat no longer drops messages. The app now connects to the full chat stream — previously it received only YouTube's "interesting" selection, from which YouTube itself quietly removed some authors and harsh/profane messages; now you see everything viewers actually post (in a live test on a filtered chat this surfaced almost a third more messages). On top of that, brief connection drops no longer break the chat and are backfilled after the fact. Also in this release: text-to-speech is more reliable and finally plays on "finicky" output devices; the app no longer leaves stuck background processes after closing and behaves correctly on relaunch; custom themes and CSS are now premium features; and the support log archive is now scrubbed of private data.
Chat: message delivery (YouTube)
YouTube no longer hides part of the chat. Previously the app connected to a "curated" chat stream that YouTube builds with its own algorithm — and that algorithm silently dropped some authors and rude/profane messages. As a result streamers didn't see the whole chat: some viewers seemed to "vanish," and then those viewers would say they'd written something. The app now requests the full "all messages" stream, without YouTube's hidden filtering. In a live test on an active channel this surfaced about a third more visible messages — exactly the kinds that used to go missing. This was the main source of complaints that "YouTube doesn't show everyone and swallows swearing."
Chat: message delivery (YouTube) (continued)
Messages aren't lost during connection drops. On a dropped connection (including drops caused by censorship-circumvention tools and unstable internet), the app used to mistake a brief glitch for the end of the broadcast, reconnect from scratch — and everything viewers wrote during those seconds was lost. Such drops are now recognized as temporary network glitches: the connection resumes from exactly the same point, and messages that arrived during the dip are picked up and shown after the fact — without re-reading them aloud and without duplicating what was already displayed.
Correct order and no batch losses. YouTube chat messages now always appear in the order viewers sent them, and are shown as a whole batch at once rather than one at a time with a delay. Previously, on a busy chat some fresh messages could appear later than older ones, and if reception was briefly interrupted, up to nine buffered messages could be lost entirely.
A glitch in a minor detail no longer "eats" the message. Fixed a rare case where an error in a secondary detail — the pop-up notification about a new message, or loading an extra viewer badge — could silently cancel the display of the entire message in chat. Now a hiccup in such a detail no longer costs the viewer the whole message.
Messages YouTube doesn't show right away are no longer lost. Sometimes YouTube first sends a message in a temporary, "draft" form and a moment later replaces it with the final one (for example, while it's under review). Previously, on such a replacement the final message might not appear in chat at all — the app now handles it correctly, and the message reaches the viewer.
Text-to-speech and audio
Text-to-speech plays on "finicky" output devices. TTS audio now actually plays on devices that used to appear in the list but were silent in practice (some USB headsets and non-standard audio outputs, including the output of a DualShock 4 gamepad with headphones plugged in). Previously the sound quietly went to the default device even though a different one was selected in settings — and you were left guessing why the chosen device stayed silent. Now TTS goes exactly where you pointed it.
The voice list no longer disappears. If the server with the TTS voice list is temporarily unavailable, the app falls back to the last successfully loaded list, and if there is none — to a built-in backup set. Previously, during service hiccups the voice list in settings could simply fail to load, and you couldn't change the voice.
Fewer "silent" TTS playbacks. On a brief speech-synthesis failure the app now quietly retries and still voices the message instead of silently skipping it. These extra retries don't apply to paid voices or the test preview in settings — so there's no accidental double spend.
Stability and startup
No stuck processes after closing. Fixed the cause of stuck helper processes lingering in the background after you quit the app (especially over Steam) — because of them Steam considered the app still running and wouldn't let you open it again. Now, when the app exits, all of its background processes are guaranteed to close along with it at the operating-system level.
Stability and startup (continued)
Sensible behavior on relaunch. If the app is already open, clicking the shortcut again or launching via Steam now simply brings the existing window to the front. And if the previous copy really is frozen and unresponsive, the app detects this and offers to close it and start fresh. Previously, in this situation the app could either silently fail to open, or mistakenly close an already-running healthy copy and cut off your current chat session.
Protection against hangs on shutdown. If closing the app itself stalls for more than a few seconds on an internal shutdown step, it now forcibly terminates itself instead of hanging in the background indefinitely.
The "Game Mode" window recovers after a crash. The chat overlay on top of the game now reliably reloads after a rare internal crash — just like the main chat window — and messages that arrive during the crash aren't lost but arrive once it recovers. Previously such a crash meant a "black/blank" overlay until a manual restart.
"Game Mode" transparency. Fixed a case where, on some graphics-card configurations, the "Game Mode" window background filled with solid black instead of the transparency needed to overlay chat on top of the game.
The collected-donations counter starts from zero. On every app launch the donations counter (for fundraising goals) now starts from zero and counts the current session's income, rather than picking up old totals from history. Donations that arrive during a brief connection drop are still counted correctly on reconnect.
Stability and startup (continued)
Diagnostics of a failed launch are preserved. If the app crashed or froze and you immediately launched it again, the log of that failed launch used to be overwritten by the new start. It's now saved separately and included in the log archive — the most useful information for troubleshooting is no longer lost.
Themes and appearance
Custom themes and custom CSS are premium features. Custom chat themes and custom CSS for "Game Mode" are now available with an active premium: for free users the custom-themes tab is hidden, and custom "Game Mode" CSS is not applied — neither in the overlay itself nor in the OBS widget. Important: everything you've already set up and saved stays in place — as soon as premium is active, your themes and CSS are available again and applied without any action on your part.
Your custom theme applies right at startup. Previously your custom theme would take effect in the game overlay and the OBS widget only after you opened the themes tab in settings at least once. It now applies immediately when the app starts.
Interface
Service messages — no preview cards, links are readable. Channel connection-status notices (reconnecting, errors, etc.) no longer expand a pop-up preview card for links inside the text — instead a plain clickable link is shown with a decoded address (no unreadable sequences like %D0%91 in place of Cyrillic). This works in the main chat window, the game overlay, and the OBS widget.
Interface (continued)
Readable links in the preview and notification center. In the link preview card (when you hover over a link in a normal message) the title and address are now also shown decoded if the link contained Cyrillic. And the notification center no longer creates a duplicate entry when you rename or change a channel's link in an existing settings slot — the entry is simply updated instead of spawning a duplicate next to it.
The emote blacklist now works for platform emotes too. If you've added an emote to the blacklist, it's now no longer replaced with an image for platforms' "native" emotes either (YouTube, Twitch, Kick, GoodGame, Picarto, Trovo, Steam), not just for your own emotes — it stays as text, as intended.
Privacy and logs
A "Collect log archive" button for support. In settings (Advanced → Miscellaneous → the "Logging" block) there's a new button that collects, in one click, a ZIP archive of the app's operation logs (startup and main-operation logs, recent event-log entries) — handy to attach to a support request. The archive does not include your personal environment settings, channel names, or system paths containing your account name.
The archive and logs are scrubbed of private data. Secret donation-service tokens and private chat links (Restream, StreamVi and the like), cookie values, and the path to your user folder containing your Windows account name are now reliably stripped from the log archive and the background operation logs — a redaction marker is left in their place. Username masking is more precise and works even in rare edge cases. A log line corrupted during an abnormal shutdown is now skipped as unreadable rather than shown in the archive as-is.
Network and compatibility
A hint when circumvention tools cause trouble. If the app fails to reach several different platforms in a row — a typical sign that a censorship-circumvention tool or proxy is interfering with the connection — it unobtrusively hints once per session about what's happening and suggests what to try (switch the circumvention/VPN mode, or turn off the new network protocol in settings). Previously such drops looked like inexplicable failures out of nowhere.
Updated platform compatibility. The parameters by which platforms (Twitch, YouTube and Rutube in particular) recognize the app have been updated — the previous ones were noticeably outdated. This improves chat-connection stability after service-side updates.
More accurate detection of YouTube sign-in. The sign-in check on the YouTube authorization tab now looks at the same login data the chat connection uses. Previously it used an outdated method that could wrongly show "not signed in" even when you actually were. The sign-in procedure itself is also more reliable now and carries authorization through to completion.
Security
Stronger verification of network connections. The app's connections to servers (account sign-in, cloud TTS, some platforms) now go through full certificate-authenticity verification and rely on the Windows system trusted-certificate store — the same one the browser uses. A useful side effect: on computers with antiviruses that inspect encrypted traffic, some network features (TTS, sign-in, TikTok) could previously work unreliably — that's now fixed.
Security (continued)
Restricted access to internal window management. The internal window-management function now accepts requests only from the app's own trusted windows, not from any embedded web content (for example, a third-party widget page) — this closes off a theoretical possibility of elevated access bypassing the usual restrictions.
A small update following 1.11.1: custom emotes with keys in any language (including Cyrillic) work in chat again, voice-over plays cleanly on 5.1/7.1 surround systems and downloads more reliably, and your account sign-in data is no longer saved into exported settings or activity

A small update following 1.11.1: custom emotes with keys in any language (including Cyrillic) work in chat again, voice-over plays cleanly on 5.1/7.1 surround systems and downloads more reliably, and your account sign-in data is no longer saved into exported settings or activity logs.
--------------------
Emotes and emoji
--------------------
Custom emotes with keys in any language work again. If your emote's key was written in a non-Latin script (for example, in Russian), the emote could fail to trigger in chat. Now keys in Cyrillic and other alphabets are recognized and expanded into the emote as expected.
A hint for keys that are too short. The add/edit emote window now shows a "Not recognized as an emote" note if the key is too short to trigger in chat, and highlights the key field. It doesn't block saving — it's just a hint.
--------------------
Voice-over
--------------------
Clean sound on 5.1/7.1 systems. On surround-sound devices (5.1/7.1), voice-over previously played slowly and with distortion. It now plays cleanly with any speaker configuration.
More reliable voice-over downloads. Synthesized speech audio is now downloaded over the active server connection, just like the rest of the app's traffic. This is more stable, including when switching between servers.
--------------------
Privacy
--------------------
Sign-in data no longer ends up in export files and logs. When you export settings to a file, and in the app's activity logs, your account authorization data is no longer saved. This matters if you send such a file or log to support.
--------------------
The fresh 1.11.2 update is now available on the Nightly channel in Steam. The Beta and Default channels stay on their current versions for now.
--------------------
A quick reminder about Steam update channels:
Nightly — the latest builds (currently 1.11.2).
Beta — early testing (currently 1.10.0).
Default — the stable version for everyone (currently 1.9.169).
--------------------
How to switch: Steam → right-click sheepChat → Properties → Betas → pick a channel from the list.

sheepChat 1.11.0 and 1.11.1 Update
A major sheepChat 1.11.0 update has been released, followed by the 1.11.1 hotfix.
We did not publish a separate announcement for version 1.11.0, so this post includes the changes from both versions.
1.11.0 — major update after 1.10.0
This version expands event support across multiple platforms, adds more flexible alert text customization, introduces third-party emote support, improves chat and OBS widgets, makes repeated launches faster, and fixes many stability issues.
1.11.1 — fixes after 1.11.0
This version fixes issues found after the 1.11.0 release: the OBS chat widget is stable again, compatibility with older OBS versions has been improved, duplicated TikTok messages and events have been fixed, and the word filter no longer breaks emojis, images, or links.
------------------------------------------------------------
Main changes in 1.11.0
------------------------------------------------------------
Message deletion synchronization
When a moderator deletes a message, bans a viewer, or times them out directly on the platform, this is now reflected both in the sheepChat chat window and in the OBS widget.
Supported platforms: Twitch, Kick, YouTube, VK Live, VK Video, and GoodGame.
Previously, messages deleted by moderators could remain visible on screen and appear on stream.
More events from different platforms
We added and unified more event types:
- subscriptions;
- gift subscriptions;
- Twitch bits;
- TikTok gifts and gift streaks;
- TikTok reposts;
- raids;
- YouTube memberships and gifted memberships;
- pinned messages;
- chat mode changes;
- bans, timeouts, unbans, and chat clears;
- moderator announcements;
- platform system and informational messages.
These events can now be handled and customized much more flexibly.
Customizable event texts
The text of almost any event can now be customized to match your own style.
Previously, some events used fixed text and could not be properly changed. Now you can set your own templates for subscriptions, gifts, bits, raids, memberships, moderation events, pinned messages, chat modes, and other events.
For example, you can use different text for a single gift, multiple gifts, a new membership, a renewed membership, a timeout with duration, and other cases.
Advanced event text customization is available in the premium version.
Separate event toggles
Each channel now has separate toggles for specific event types.
For example, you can disable ban and timeout messages, hide chat mode changes, or turn off TikTok gift streak messages while keeping regular gifts enabled.
There is also a separate toggle for synchronizing message deletions from the platform.
7TV, FFZ, and BetterTTV support
Added support for third-party emotes from 7TV, FrankerFaceZ, and BetterTTV.
Emotes are loaded automatically from connected Twitch and YouTube channels. No account login is required.
Animated emotes and FFZ/BTTV viewer badges are also supported.
------------------------------------------------------------
Chat, emojis, avatars, and themes
------------------------------------------------------------
Emoji rendering has been fully reworked.
Complex emojis with skin tones, combined emojis, and country flags no longer split into separate parts or turn into missing-symbol squares.
Twitch avatars have been fixed after platform-side changes caused them to stop loading.
Avatars now display more neatly in both the chat window and the OBS widget. An option to disable avatars has also been added.
User-selected sounds, images, custom emotes, and chat backgrounds are now stored more reliably.
Previously, the app could store only the path to the selected file. If the file was moved, renamed, or deleted, it disappeared from sheepChat. Now selected content is copied into the app.
Built-in themes have also been reworked, a full New Year theme has been added, and holiday decorations now work more reliably.
------------------------------------------------------------
History, text-to-speech, and scrolling
------------------------------------------------------------
Chat history is no longer spoken again and no longer triggers a burst of notifications when connecting.
Previously, after reconnecting, text-to-speech could start reading old messages, while the system could also show notifications for already existing chat history.
Now old messages appear silently: they are visible in the chat window, but they are not spoken and do not create duplicate notifications.
Chat scrolling is now more stable.
When you scroll up to read older messages, new messages no longer reset your position or make the chat jump.
The chat also handles heavy message flow better and is less likely to freeze during active streams.
Text-to-speech is now more reliable: interrupting speech and moving to the next message works faster, and the speech language no longer gets stuck on English for symbols, emojis, and link labels.
------------------------------------------------------------
OBS widgets
------------------------------------------------------------
OBS chat and event widgets have been improved.
Gift alerts are now more accurate: recipients, gift amounts, names, and TikTok virtual gift multipliers are handled better.
The event feed now shows bans, unbans, timeouts, and chat clears as separate events.
Channel status indicators have been fixed.
Deleting a message by double-clicking it in the widget has also been fixed.
------------------------------------------------------------
Account, premium, and login
------------------------------------------------------------
Premium now applies immediately, without restarting the app.
If you purchase premium or your Steam ownership status changes, premium features are enabled directly in the current session.
Premium should no longer reset because of temporary connection issues or an unavailable verification service.
The app also remembers login status more reliably and is less sensitive to minor hardware or system changes.
If the hardware really has changed and login needs to be confirmed again, the app will show a clear explanation.
The website login window with code entry has been updated.
A new “Profile” section has been added to settings, where you can manage your account, choose the startup login method, and view the license agreement.
------------------------------------------------------------
Launch speed, network, and stability
------------------------------------------------------------
Repeated app launches are now noticeably faster.
Previously, every start fully cleared the internal cache of platform pages, so connections could take time to warm up again.
Now the cache is preserved between launches and is cleared automatically only when updating to a new version.
Connections are now more stable in complex network conditions, including when using VPNs, proxies, and third-party network clients.
A new experimental “Disable HTTP/2” setting has been added.
It may help if connections are unstable because of network conditions or third-party network software.
This setting is disabled by default. It should only be enabled if you are experiencing connection issues. Restarting the app is required after changing it.
Memory and resource leaks in long sessions have also been fixed, reconnection stability has been improved, and the app now handles system sleep recovery better.
------------------------------------------------------------
Platform fixes and improvements
------------------------------------------------------------
YouTube
Added events for paid channel memberships and gifted memberships.
TikTok
Added subscriptions, gifts, reposts, and gift streaks.
A separate toggle for gift streak messages has also been added in case the “×N” message flow gets in the way.
Twitch
Added and improved events for subscriptions, gifts, bits, chat modes, moderation, and announcements.
Kick
Added subscriptions, raids, gifts, pinned messages, chat modes, and moderation events.
VK
Fixed channel connection for names containing hyphens, such as kolos-23 or marik-lelik.
DonatePay
Fixed double donation counting and duplicated donation amounts after reconnecting.
Events and connections have also been improved for Douyu, GoodGame, Picarto, and other platforms.
------------------------------------------------------------
What was fixed in 1.11.1
------------------------------------------------------------
Stable OBS widget connection
After 1.11.0, some users could experience the OBS chat widget repeatedly reconnecting or getting stuck on the connection lost message.
This has been fixed in 1.11.1. The connection now remains stable.
Compatibility with older OBS versions
On some older OBS versions, the chat widget could fail to launch completely.
It should now display correctly again.
Fixed duplicated TikTok messages
If the same TikTok channel was added in different formats — as a link, with @, without @, or using different letter casing — it could connect more than once.
Because of this, messages, gifts, and other events could be duplicated.
These duplicates are now detected and removed, and extra background connections no longer remain after reconnecting.
The word filter no longer breaks emojis, images, and previews
If replacements were configured in the word filter, the filter could accidentally modify parts of emoji, image, or preview links.
Because of this, emojis and images could turn into broken text fragments.
The filter now affects only visible words in messages and no longer breaks emojis, images, or links.
Text-to-speech also no longer reads YouTube emoji service links out loud.
Thank you to everyone who reported issues and helped us find bugs.

Later, we will also publish a separate download link for users of the free version.
Important: this is a test build. It may contain bugs, unstable behavior, or issues that we have not caught during testing yet. If you find a bug, please let us know in Discord and mention that you are using build 1.10.0 from the nightly-v1.x.x channel.
What changed in version 1.10.0
This is a major update. We have reworked connections to all chat platforms, improved stability and performance, and fixed many issues.
Special attention was given to YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch. If YouTube chat did not connect for you before, TikTok kept disconnecting, or Twitch did not show viewers joining and leaving the chat, these issues should now be fixed.
Changelog:
* Twitch has been fully reworked. You can once again see who joins and leaves the chat. Raids, subscriptions, Bits, bans, timeouts, deleted messages, slow mode, and subscriber-only mode have also been added.
* YouTube now connects to chat reliably again. You can now use channel links in different formats, multiple simultaneous livestreams are handled correctly, and connection statuses are clearer.
* TikTok is now much more stable, no longer requires account login, and duplicate gifts have been fixed.
* VK now uses a unified connection for VK Video and VK Live and works without authorization.
* Steam broadcasts can now be connected in guest mode. Steam integration has been updated.
* Kick, Trovo, Douyu, GoodGame, Rutube, Picarto, and OK Live now support more event types and automatic reconnection if the connection is lost.
* Donation and alert services are now more reliable. DonationAlerts, DonatePay, Donatty, StreamLabs, Restream, and StreamVi have been improved.
* If an incorrect channel link is entered, the app now explains the issue more clearly and shows examples of valid links.
* Support for closed platforms WASD/NUUM, SC2TV/peka2tv, DLive, and Facebook integration has been removed.
* Built-in proxy settings have been removed. This was an intentional decision: the old built-in implementation was unstable and required constant workarounds. It is now more reliable to use a separate VPN or proxy client at the system level. Such a client will automatically apply to all app traffic.
* The internal app engine has been updated. Startup is now faster and more reliable, memory leaks and unnecessary resource usage have been reduced, and long-session stability has been improved.
* Emojis, icons, themes, and sounds are now stored inside the app, load faster, and depend less on external servers.
* Fixed playback of notification and alert sounds.
* Fixed image and link previews in chat.
* Fixed the right-click menu and tray menu.
* Fixed channel connection status display and reconnection notifications.
* Improved message voice playback.
* Improved OBS widgets: chat, events, notifications, and polls.
* Updated the “About” window.
* General app protection has been improved. sheepChat is now more self-contained, which improves security and makes its behavior more predictable.

Friends, we see your messages about YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms. We understand that waiting is frustrating, especially when you need sheepChat during a live stream. We want to explain why the update has not been released yet.
The YouTube fix is already ready. This update also includes fixes for TikTok and a number of other important changes.
However, these fixes are currently part of a larger patch that affects many internal parts of sheepChat: platform connections, message processing, authorization, stability, and the overall connector system. Because of this, we cannot simply “quickly pull out” only the YouTube fix and release it separately without risking breaking other features. Before release, we need to finish the current tasks, bring everything to a stable state, and make sure these fixes do not create new issues.
For YouTube, the temporary workaround remains the same: please use a direct livestream link in this format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=*****
It is important that the link contains /watch?v= Channel links, @profile links, short links, and “share” links may currently work incorrectly or unstably. We are not ignoring bug reports.
On the contrary, many issues have already been fixed or are currently being worked on. This patch is simply larger than a regular small hotfix, so it needs a little more time before release.
Thank you to everyone who calmly reports details, screenshots, and logs. This really helps us find and fix problems faster.

Dear streamers,
We are aware of the issue with connecting YouTube via @profile and are already working on a fix. A patch will be released on Steam soon. The issue is caused by YouTube changing the format and the way stream data is retrieved. Because of this, sheepChat currently may not be able to get the list of active streams when connecting via @profile.
At the same time, connecting via a direct stream link still works. As a temporary workaround, please use a direct link in the following format:
Paste it into sheepChat instead of connecting via @profile — the chat should connect correctly. Thank you for your understanding. We will let you know once the fix is available.

Earlier today, there was a large-scale availability issue affecting part of the network infrastructure of external providers. As a result, some users may have experienced connection interruptions or increased latency.
We performed a set of measures on our side to minimize the impact of the incident: traffic was redistributed to stable channels and routes were updated. The issue has now been resolved, and the services are operating normally.
If you are still experiencing connection issues, please clear the DNS cache in your operating system or restart your device/router. In some cases, outdated DNS records may remain cached on the provider’s side for some time.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Dear friends, 🐑💬
We sincerely apologize to everyone who experienced issues using sheepChat over the past few days. 💔 Unfortunately, due to the blocking of subnetworks from our new hosting provider in some regions, particularly in Ukraine 🇺🇦, the app became partially unavailable. We understand how this impacted your experience and deeply regret that we couldn’t prevent this situation.
The issue has now been resolved, and full access to the app has been restored. ✅
As an apology, we’ve increased the TTS quota for Steam users with the paid version. 🎙️ Until January 15, 2025, your TTS quota has been doubled from 1500 to 4000 messages. This adjustment has already been applied for all users who purchased the app on Steam. 🚀
We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and support. 🙏 Your feedback helps us improve every day. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact us via support or through our social media channels.
We’d also be grateful if you could update your Steam reviews if the issue has been resolved for you. 📝
Thank you for sticking with us, and once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused. 💙
With love,
The sheepChat Team 🐑💬
