We invite you to try out the new beta version of eteeConnect, featuring an updated configuration page with enhanced functionality. The new page allows you to:

Easily switch between custom tracker positions
Set controller binding profiles
Adjust the brightness of your dongle's LED
Additionally, you can upgrade to our latest eteeDongle Firmware version 1.2.9.
To navigate the new configuration UI, simply click one of the three icons on the left side of the page to explore each settings section.
How to opt into the beta
To activate the beta release you will have:

Activate the eteeConnect beta branch (see details below)
Update your dongle firmware version to 1.2.9 (see details below)
Activate the eteeConnect [beta]

In Steam, navigate to: "Steam > eteeConnect > Settings".
Enter the "Betas" section.
Under "Beta Participation", click on the dropdown-menu and select: "beta - External Testing".
If the beta was activated successfully, you will see a [beta] tag next to your eteeConnect app name.

Changes to eteeConnect:
- Introducing the mini-window feature
- Implemented numerous UI/UX improvements
- General backend maintenance
Make sure to also update your controllers to the newest controller firmware!
New version available: 1.3.11.beta.4
Changes to firmware:
- Bugfix to 1.3.11.beta.0 (removed), which accidentally introduced input lag issues.
- Bugfix for the erratic controller behaviour that appeared sometimes when opening SteamVR without closing eteeConnect properly (controller vibrates crazily and is unusable).
- Introduced features to sync the LED lighting effects with new eteeConnect V3.
Firmware Instructions
To update your controllers, please, use eteeConnect. Go to: Options > Update > Firmware, and follow on-screen instructions.
Changes to bindings:
- Pushed new bindings for VRChat users that are entering the VRChat [open/beta]. The new bindings (V4_1) will need to be activated through the SteamVR Binding UI, so that the etee hand skeleton still works in the newest update. More information coming soon in a separate announcement.

1. Basic Information
For VRChat, our users will need to activate the correct etee bindings, depending on whether or not they're entering the VRChat [open-beta]:

Old etee bindings - V3_5: for players who don't want to upgrade VRChat. Note that if users are in VRChat's [open-beta] and use this old binding, they won’t be able to see their hands moving in VRChat due to skeletal incompatibility.
New etee bindings - V4_1: for players who have updated VRChat to the [open-beta] branch.
Note: As a rule of thumb, if you cannot see your fingers moving in VRChat, activate another binding.

For example, if you have updated VRChat to the [open-beta] but you have the old bindings (V3_5) selected, your finger movement will not be registered.

3. How to activate the changes for VRChat [open-beta]
To activate the changes you will have to:

Make sure you have updated eteeConnect.
Open SteamVR and VRChat (in "open-beta" mode).
Open the Bindings UI menu, by navigating to: "SteamVR Settings > Devices > Open Binding UI". (Note: If you cannot see this option, check if you have activated "Show Advanced Options" in the bottom-left side of the SteamVR Settings Menu)
In the Binding UI menu:

Select the VRChat game.
Select the eteeController as your device.
Click on "Activate" in any of the V4_1 etee bindings for VRChat (recommended: [ANY TRACKER - NEW SKELETON]).

1. Basic Information
This release focuses on improving battery lifetime through the following changes:

New firmware - Fuel gauge: Better battery management and fuel gauge algorithms. Previously, errors in the fuel gauge estimations of the BQ27441 component caused the controller to turn off prematurely, even when there was much battery remaining. The new firmware implements a new algorithm to detect battery level and allow you to safely use all of etee's power.

Note: The new average battery lifetime is 4.5-5h with haptics, up to 6h without haptics (navigate to the end of the page to learn how to deactivate haptics).
More efficient haptics in SteamVR: Same user experience, less battery consumption for the etee haptics (aka. vibrations) in VR.
2. How to activate the changes
To activate the release you will have to:

Update your left and right controllers firmware version to 1.3.10. (see details below)
Make sure to update your eteeConnect app via Steam.

In the "Steam Client App", right-click on the eteeConnect app in your library list. Select "Properties" from the dropdown list, then in the "Local Files" tab select "Verify integrity of game".

Within the directory, navigate to the "eteeConnect > resources > settings" folder, and open the "default.vrsettings" file with your favourite editor. We recommend Notepad++ or VSCode, but you can even use text editor available in your OS.
Navigate to the end of the document, and under "etee_haptic_settings" change enable to false to disable haptics. Make sure to not add any commas after this.
Now you're ready to run SteamVR, and the changes should have been applied.

Make sure you have updated your eteeConnect application to 2.14.0. You can check your current version under: "eteeConnect > Options > Update > eteeConnect Version".
In eteeConnect, navigate to: "eteeConnect > Bindings".
Triple-click the etee power button to change to the desired profile (either A or B). Note: To easily identify profiles, we recommend changing the LED color for each profile.
Enter a desired profile (either A or B) by clicking on the "Edit Profile" button.
On the top-right menu, navigate to "eteeTrackpad > DeadZone". You can use this to tune the deadzone range.

NEW CONTROLLER INTERACTIONS WITH NEW FIRMWARE If you decide to flash the beta firmware (v.1.3.9.stable.0), some interactions might change:

The trackpad will behave like a physical joystick. For best results, first place the thumb at the center of the trackpad and then move it to where you want the X-Y to be. If you first press the edge of the trackpad, this would be filtered out.
For games such as VRChat, some actions were binded to tap on the trackpad East or West DPAD coordinates (i.e. snap turn). Now, instead of touching those edges directly, you will need to swipe to snap turn left/right.

etee Custom driver VRChat hand offset pose update

The hand offset pose has been updated. The hand model offsets have been improved, and the skeleton aligns with models from Index controllers. This fixes issues such as unusual elbow behaviour when rotating your hands. This provides a better user experience and improved skeleton behaviour in VRChat.
Since the teleport gesture follows the virtual hand, we suggest turning your hand 90 degrees when selecting the direction.
VRChat binding improvement

Improving user experience with menu selections, by allowing you to select items by opening-closing your index finger.
Removed input from LED buttons to avoid misstriggers
There is a VRChat bug, which disallows some third-party controllers to access the radial menu (aka action menu). To fix this issue: enter “Quick menu setting > Controller > Index controller” and make sure the index click has the action menu selected. Otherwise the action menu and quick menu cannot be triggered properly. Unfortunately, this is a layer from VRChat that we cannot change in the etee system.
REMEMBER Please, remember to activate the new "Official Bindings" appropriate for your etee tracking system.

INSTRUCTIONS TO SELECT BINDINGS For some titles, we'll start releasing 2 sets of bindings per game. This is necessary as some titles require different poses for each type of tracker. In the Binding Menu, they will just have to click 'Activate' on either one of the official bindings. This depends on which tracker they are using. Here's a guide on what to do:

Open the game you wish to play.
When playing a game for the first time, always check the Binding Menu. To do so, in SteamVR, navigate to: Settings > Controllers > Show Binding UI. Then, select the current game you're playing.
Under the Current Controller section, select eteeController.
Under the Default Bindings section, click 'Activate' on either one of the official etee bindings under. This depends on which tracker you are using.

eteeTrackers or Tundra tracker (with eteeAdaptor Smart)

Improved communication of state flags to SteamVR. This should provide a smoother user experience when setting up the devices.

INSTRUCTION TO UPDATE DEVICE FIRMWARE The dongle firmware will automatically update to v.1.2.8 when you update the controller firmware v.1.3.7.stable.0 or higher.

Run the eteeConnect app.
Navigate to: "eteeConnect > Options".
Under "Update > eteeControllers Firmware", click on the drop-down menu and select version: 1.3.7.stable.0. Click "Update".
Follow the instructions to update controllers firmware.
To check if the firmware was updated successfully, navigate again to "Options > Update > eteeControllers Firmware" and click on the refresh icon. Your version should have changed to 1.3.7.stable.0, and your dongle should be in version 1.2.8.

etee driver for SteamVR

The new dongle firmware update should improve the controller pick-up on SteamVR. This is, when turning on the devices and SteamVR, the controller should be picked up without issues.

This update includes several features that have passed the beta phase and are now available in the stable release. The focus was on controller firmware and onboarding new features into the device to simplify data flow.
A BIG THANK YOU Thanks to everyone who participated in the betas and shared their feedback. We were able to identify bugs and iterate through versions because of your support. For more information on the betas, check these Release Patch Notes: First Beta, Second Beta, Third Beta.

New version available: 1.3.7.stable.0
Changes to firmware:

Dynamic baselines: Should eliminate the need for quick calibration (i.e. double-click power button). Note: feature still available if needed.
Input filtering: Embedded input filters into the devices, resulting in less input mis-triggering.
Stability improvement:

Removed light sleep feature. After 5 minutes of inactivity, the controllers will directly turn off, instead of entering the previous light sleep mode.
Reduced confusing LED status from eteeControllers where when the controller is disconnected from a dongle, it would try to mimic the LED status of the eteeTracker.
Resolved controller freezing and not turning ON due to an edge-case when the device is critically low in battery.

Developed a release version compatible with the new firmware.
Binding Autoremapping: Implemented autoremapping feature released by SteamVR. This should resolve automatically create a template binding for the etee controllers when no game bindings are available.
Known Issues
We've identified a few issues and we're working towards fixing them. In the meantime, please, use the following quick solutions:

Controller not picked up by SteamVR: if the controllers are connected to the dongle (dongle LED flashes pink twice) but not to SteamVR, try unplugging and re-plugging the controller.
Controller not picked up by dongle: if the controllers are not connecting to the dongle (dongle LED flashes pink only once or zero times), try unplugging and re-plugging the controller.
Slider double-click issues: if you're finding it difficult to perform slider double-click in a game, please perform a quick calibration (double-click power/system button).
Wrist offsets in VRChat: work in progress.

1. Basic Information
New firmware version available: 1.3.5.beta.3
This beta release should improve user experience with the following features:

Trackpad Mistriggering: Should eliminate mistriggers of the trackpad when performing grab/squeeze, side pinch, or tracker gestures. Changes carried from 1.3.5.beta.2.
Slider Bugfix: Solved bug introduced in 1.3.5.beta.1, where the slider inputs were blocked when no eteeTracker is connected.
Sleep Behaviour: Removed light sleep feature. After 5 minutes of inactivity, the controllers will directly turn off, instead of entering the previous light sleep mode.
Trackpad performance should not change. However, if you notice any issues with you trackpad, please let us know through our support forms or in the comment section below.
Note: This beta also contains these past beta releases:

First beta: Dynamic baselines and input filtering (device firmware and SteamVR driver)

This beta release should improve user experience with the following features:

Not able to create a new binding for SteamVR games: For VR games without default bindings, SteamVR would not allow you to create a new custom binding for eteeControllers.
Confusing LED status from eteeControllers: Removed tracker LED synchronisation feature from the eteeControllers.
eteeControllers stability: Removed edge-cases where eteeController would freeze and not work.

Note - Know Bugs in Beta:
There seems to be a bug on the previously released beta firmware (1.3.5.beta.0) where when the controller enters light sleep, the device will either remain stuck in light sleep or once you reactivate the device it will permanently remain active. The condition for entering light sleep is as follows;

5 minutes of inactivity when the device is connected to a eteeController dongle.
30 seconds of inactivity when the device is not connected to a eteeController dongle.
To resolve this, hard-reset the controller by pressing and holding the power-button for ~13 seconds. This bug will still be present in this current update and we are actively working on resolving this and will push an update to fix this.
2.2. etee driver for SteamVR
New version available: etee driver for SteamVR - v1.4.1.beta.2
SteamVR version compatibility: SteamVR v1.26
Please note that this feature only applies to SteamVR v1.26 and higher and you will need to opt into the beta branch for SteamVR as well for this feature to work.

Using Automatic Rebinding feature released by SteamVR in the beta branch to resolve issues for controllers not having any binding available for select SteamVR games.
