Game Update! - The Big Combat Overhaul & Desktop Mode!
⚔️ Combat System Overhaul
Combat has transitioned to a brand new turn-based system! Start a battle by touching or attacking a monster, after which a circle will appear around you and your targets, indicating the battle radius. Players and monster inside the vicinity of the battle circle will be added to the battle automatically. See someone out in the field and they look like they could use some help? Just run up to the monster they're fighting and whack it on the head to join their battle! Up to 4 players can participate in a battle, and you'll see anywhere from 1 to 6 monsters per fight.
Please note: This system is an on-going work-in-progress. Additional refinements and features are being worked on!
📈 Leveling System & EXP Rewards
Players can now level up! Gain experience points (EXP) from completing quests and defeating monsters, allowing you to increase your stats and grow more powerful over time. Your maximum level is tied to your Hero Rank, with a cap of 10 times your Hero Rank. So if you're HR2, your max level will be 20 until you get promoted to the next HR, at which point you'll be able to gain 10 new levels.
📊 Player Stats Introduced
New stats have been added to customize your character's abilities:
- **Strength (STR)**: Affects physical attacks.
- **Agility (AGI)**: Improves speed and increases evasion odds.
- **Vitality (VIT)**: Increases health and defenses.
- **Dexterity (DEX)**: Enhances weapon proficiency.
- **Magic (MAG)**: Boosts the potency of spells.
- **Luck (LUK)**: Increases chances of critical hits and dodges.
This system is still being experimented with. Currently stats will increment automatically as you level up. However, free stat allocation is something that's being considered for a future update.
🖥️ Desktop Mode Now Available
You can now play the game in desktop mode, no VR headset required! Play the full game on your PC using just your mouse and keyboard. Of course, it's fully cross-play with VR users, both on Steam and Quest.
:sparkles: Spells & Abilities
MAGIC! You can now use Spells! You will learn new spells by leveling up, and in the near future you'll be able to also learn new spells and skills by completing quests and villager requests.
🌍 Level Redesigns
Several maps have been redesigned to align with the new combat system. Future updates will bring more map redesigns, as the game is moving to a more free exploration approach. Expect to see a redesigned Forest & Hills near Orvelte soon!
👹 New Noob-friendly Monsters
Two new enemies has been introduced. Meet the *Lunalop* and its big sister the *Doslunalop*. These creatures roam the fields around Eltstadt, and they're damn cute.
🔄 Stamina Removed, SP Added
The stamina system is gone and replaced with **SP (Skill Points)**, letting you cast spells and use combat abilities in battle.
:map: Minimap Added
A minimap system has been added to help you find your way through the game's (increasingly bigger) maps.
:art: Character Shading
Characters have been updated with a new toon shader, for a nicer stylized look.
:gem: Super Rare Monster Drops: Cards
Introducing **"cards"**—rare drops from monsters that grant stat boosts when equipped. These are super rare and highly valuable, so keep an eye out for them!
:scroll: Revised Intro Quest
The intro quest has been streamlined and NPC dialogue has been re-written somewhat, making it more clear for new players to be able to tell where they're meant to go.
:wrench: Additional stuff
- **Writing**: A bunch of new NPC's with new dialogue have been added.
- **Visual Updates**: Some visual changes have been made to better accommodate lower-end hardware. (Quest 2...)
- **Bug Fixes**: Many many many bugs have been fixed over the past 6 months! (And lots of new ones have popped up I'm sure T_T)
Thanks for being here! Whether in VR or desktop mode, enjoy QUEST TOGETHER!!
