Our latest update fleshes out the Fungi category by giving them a unique new scoring mechanic! This mechanic has been in the works since before the EA release and we're super excited to add a new way to play with your food!
We've added 10 ingredients utilizing this new mechanic and further expanding what's possible for the Fungi lovers out there. Plus this Onion Ring that's been laying around in the project files for over a year...
We also wanted to give love to another underexplored tag: the LARGE ingredients. Some of our new ingredients and helpers either manipulate the size of ingredients, or score pts for the big boys.
Rounding out the content update, we've added 7 new helpers interacting with Fungi or Large ingredients.
Plus 6 new achievements related to the new ingredients!
With this update, we feel that each of the Primary tags is fleshed out enough to have viable builds. We've still got a few more updates planned and we're doing our best to ensure each of them adds new build possibilities without needlessly bloating the ingredient pool.
We're constantly inspired by ideas from our community on Discord! So please keep letting us know what you want to see more of! Are there any tags you want us to focus on? Any mechanics that you love and think we could apply in new ways? Please keep the ideas coming, it helps us a ton!

It's time for our first major update of the post-1.0 era! For this update we wanted to flesh out some niches we felt were lacking and introduce a long-promised major feature!
In the omelet selection screen, you can now replay any weekly pantry whenever you want! There's currently 27 such pantries, so we've more than tripled the number of available starter pantries. It should be pretty easy to cycle through them and find one that looks interesting. To incentivize you, we've added a couple achievements for completing Weeklies.
For those of you chasing the 100% Catalogue completion achievement, this should help you track down some missing customers and ingredients. We've got 25 more weeklies to add so if there's any boss customer you want us to guarantee or any fun helper/ingredient combinations, please let us know and they might make it into the game!
In terms of content, we wanted to focus on fleshing out the Seafood and Wiggly categories even further. There were previously no Wiggly ingredients that came in groups of 2+ in the shop, which made Octopus Leg a bit useless. Now we've got a new type of wiggly that just flop in place a bit but comes with some great scoring potential! Plus some more mult-providers that should help create more ridiculous strategies!
Another reason we wanted to focus on Seafood is because we only had 1 Seafood-related helper previously! That's fixed now along with some more helpers that convert tags, since that's a design space we're very curious to explore. Please let us know which of these new helpers is your favorite and what you want to see more of!
In case you missed it, we've been running several brackets on our Discord to determine the most beloved ingredient in Omelet You Cook! Join us on Discord to participate and vote for your favorite!
Another major objective for this update was to rebalance and address some of the most common frustrations y'all have brought to our attention. In particular, we've made Scissors (and therefore the Wrapped pantry) much easier to unlock. More details in the patch notes. (Note you may need to unlock them again but it'll be much quicker this time!)
We've also added 7 new achievements because Principal Clucker disdains chefs celebrating their 100% completion. So get cooking, keep sharing those Ws, and we'll keep moving the goalposts!
We still have a lot more planned for Omelet You Cook, and all your feedback is incredibly helpful! Please keep sharing what delights and frustrates you, and any ideas you have for new content you want to see!

Balance
Helper Rarities have been rebalanced to reach a more balanced distribution. Previously the majority of helpers were Rare and there were very few Common or Uncommon. We've adjusted it so that generally Commons are simple and useful in almost any build, Uncommons are more specialized but still simple, and then Rares are more complex or contain multiple effects. The new distributions are as follows:
Common: 10 (was 6)
Uncommon: 28 (was 10)
Rare: 28 (was 41)
Legendary: 30 (was 27)
Mythic: 8 (unchanged)

This unlock was one of the longest and most painful. It also unlocks one of the pantries so we decided to make it much easier. Now it's just Hash Brown -> Pizza Pocket -> Scissors
Again, you may need to reunlock it. Sorry about that, but it'll be better in the long run!
Another benefit is this should ensure chefs learn how to unwrap before they get Scissors
Plus we're rewarding your hard work with an achievement for unlocking Skewer!

Reworded Piggy Bank for clarity
Reworded the Founder/Finisher to say "to the ingredient taken first/last" (instead of to each)
Fixed bug where you could get a duplicate Legendary Helper from the take random choice
Fixed bug where bullies would bully ingredients that had lost their targeted tag (like a formerly Raw ingredient that's been Baked by Hot Pot)

Now that I have my own Steam Deck (shoutout Valve), I've made some improvements to Steam Deck. Firstly, touch screen now works as it should. Secondly, I've adjusted click-drop to be a bit more logical.
Hjalte and I will be taking the next couple weeks a bit easier. My main priority is fixing any bugs you report and listening to your feedback so I understand what I should prioritize for the coming updates.
Lastly, we're running a bracket to determine the MOST BELOVED ingredient amongst all chefs. Please join us on Discord and check out the poll channel to get involved. Since there's 144 ingredients, we'll be running March Madness-style brackets for each food category and then pit the winners of each category against one another to determine the ultimate champion.

Thank you so much for helping make our 1.0 launch a huge success! Hjalte and I are incredibly grateful to all the chefs who've played the game, left reviews, and gave us feedback on what you love and what you want to see improved.
We're thrilled to announce that in the week since the 1.0 launch, we've sold over 37,000 copies of Omelet You Cook! In the 7 months of Early Access we were thrilled to reach 14,000 copies sold, so this has really blown away our highest expectations!
Originally we planned to take a small break after fixing high priority bugs but seeing all the positive feedback coming in from new chefs who are genuinely enjoying our little game motivated us to squeeze in one small update as a way to show our appreciation!
The majority of new chefs are playing in a language other than English so we asked our translators to suggest some of their favorite ingredients for us to include in this update. We'll keep adding new ingredients over time, so please let us know what you'd like to see included in future updates!

With this pantry, one thing I want to test is whether it's interesting to start with a lot of an ingredient that's good once and then becomes dead weight
In general the 3 newest pantries are relatively untested and may be changed further. Please let us know what you think of them!
Nerfed Maggi (Minimalist + Shrinker + Decisive instead of Minimalist + Hungry + Decisive)
Minimalist will no longer appear in the first 8 rounds (instead of 2)
We've been hearing that Minimalist feels too punishing. We're hoping that nerfing Maggi (the biggest culprit) and guaranteeing they don't appear until late in runs helps negate how punishing they feel. We'll continue to listen and see if we need further adjustments
Carnivore and Vegetarian will no longer appear in the first 5 rounds (instead of 2)
Union Delegate and Loan Shark can no longer appear from taking random helper
Going forward, unfireable helpers will be excluded from random selections with the exception of Severance Package because it's dope
Wannabe DJ will no longer appear in Round 16+ for performance purposes
Raw Seaweed is Uncommon (instead of Common)
it just feels more Uncommony, right?
Chefs can no longer attempt the Weekly if they haven't unlocked the appropriate Apron
However, you still don't need to have all the ingredients of the Weekly unlocked

Sped up scene transition visual
We've been getting some reports that the transition has been straining on the eye. Hopefully simply speeding it up improves it, but please let us know if you're still experiencing this.
Bug Fixes
Fixed huge lag spike during omelet selection
To fix this, we had to remove the text showing the number of chefs on the leaderboard. Later we'll see if we can find a way to reintroduce this but the only easy way to get the number is to basically load all 10,000+ entries which caused the lag spike.
Sorry, we didn't expect to have so many chefs in the first week!
Fixed bug where tooltips were cut off on Steam Deck
Adjusted tooltips to always fit 9 on screen
soon we'll overhaul this to support greater than 9 (and improve the visuals a bit)
Fixed bug where chefs could steal multiple ingredients by dragging an ingredient to push 2 other ingredients on the conveyor together and then quickly push them both off the conveyor

This was an accident, sorry for those of you who "unlocked" Black Apron who will no longer have access. The intent is that you earn the right to play the highest difficulty after beating the story. Feel free to use the "Unlock All" feature if you really want to jump ahead

Omelet You Cook 1.0 is available now!!! After 21 content updates over 7 months, we're so excited for you chefs to see what we've cooked for the full release!
1.0 introduces 4 new starter pantries including the final pantry where you will finally confront Principal Clucker himself. It also introduces the highest difficulty: Black Apron, which you can unlock by finishing the story.
Aside from story content, we've been giving some love to some screens that we felt were a bit too static.
All crates have custom backgrounds, and the ingredients now have particles corresponding to their rarity.
Everyone's favorite trash dog is even more excited to help eat your unwanted trash!
There's also 5 new helpers and a whopping 36 new achievements, including a bunch for unlocking ingredients at the end of long unlock branches. If you already have everything unlocked, you'll get a bunch of achievements after your first run.
If you've been cooking with us for a long time or you previously used the "Unlock All" feature, we'd highly recommend resetting your save data before you start your first run. This way you can have a fresh experience (and you're always welcome to use the reworked Unlock All feature that's non-destructive and allows you to still earn progress towards achievements).
We can't emphasize enough how incredible Early Access was for us. We wanted to look back and share some stats that we're incredibly proud of:

All leaderboards have been reset - have fun building the new ones!
When trashing, 5 ingredients are dispensed by default instead of 3
On Red/Black Apron, spending $1 just to get 3 items you want to keep felt incredibly frustrating. Now you should more reliably be able to trash something you actually want to trash and lose money for nothing less often.
The ingredient number in the pantry no longer goes down when trashing
This might be confusing at first for experienced chefs but it makes it more clear at a glance
Unlock All is now a non-destructive toggle. Meaning you can turn it on and off as you please, and you'll still earn progress towards truly unlocking ingredients and earning achievements.
We highly recommend not using this option so you gradually unlock more complex content, but we want to offer it for people who want to experience everything in a shorter timespan
Aprons reworked again
Blue has "Max 1 Dispense" instead of "no free trashing", and is 12 Rounds instead of 9
We found through playtesting that the no free trashing felt tougher so we saved it for Red Apron
Red has Max 8 Helpers instead of Max 12
This was done to further distinguish the aprons and provide a difficulty where making decisions on which Helper to keep feels more agonizing
All of these changes (and the introduction of Black Apron) are an effort to make each apron playstyle distinct. Some players felt it frustrating that Red Apron had become so restrictive but with these changes the Blue Apron should now feel much closer to that experience. These changes are mostly aimed at experienced chefs who want challenging runs while still preserving more chill experiences at lower level aprons.
Stats earned in Endless now count towards Catalogue stats and unlock progress
Some chefs were confused that they could score 100 pts with a Pineapple they got in Endless and the catalogue still said they had 0. This was explained in-game but not clearly enough so I decided to just make it work how players expect
Moldy won't appear for first 3 rounds
Moldy customers give 35% chance of Moldy (instead of 40%)
Matches start burning/igniting other ingredients after a short delay after landing/being grabbed
Added tutorial step explaining how ingredients score + other minor tutorial tweaks
Helper Hater gives -1pts per reroll (instead of -2pts)

Less than a week until Omelet You Cook leaves Early Access! We couldn't be more excited to share what we've been working on. We got kind of addicted to doing all these updates, so we wanted to drop one more before the big 1.0 on February 8th.
Okay but don't get too excited, all the new content and the ending will come later. The main purpose of this update is to make the game available in the following languages:
Simplified Chinese
Traditional Chinese
Japanese
Korean
Thai
We've been working hard to get the game working with these 5 languages and with the help of our wonderful community we're working on more languages that will come sometime after 1.0!
Aside from multiple language support, observant chefs might notice some more changes to the apron balancing, lots of little quality of life changes, and critical bug fixes. We'll save all the patch notes for 1.0 so feel free to poke around and discover for yourself.
We'll be going live with Omelet You Cook 1.0 on February 8th at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm UTC. If you want to help make our launch as successful as possible, please consider doing any of the following:

Hope you're having a nice start to 2026! Today we're fleshing out a tag that has long needed some love.
We've added 12 new Seafood ingredients, 4 of which are Wiggly in strange new ways!
These are some of the silliest ingredients we've added yet and we're excited to see how you use them!
Our composer, Gustaf Blix, added a few new musical tracks for our customers! If you hadn't noticed, each customer trait has a specific instrument they add to the music, and we're closer to each one being unique. You can now hover over customers in the catalogue to hear them!
Principal Clucker now has a bit more variety in what he says after each run.
We've made some very significant balancing changes and overhauls to the following systems:

Ingredient Unlocks
Ingredient Rarities
Tutorial and New Player Experience
Plus tons of bug fixes and balancing adjustments. For full details check out the Patch Notes below.
Lastly, Principal Clucker has decreed this will be the final content update of Early Access. But fear not, we have a lot more planned for Omelet You Cook! In the near future we'll announce our 1.0 release date!
The forthcoming 1.0 update will focus on the introduction of Black Apron, as well as how you'll earn it - by finally confronting Principal Clucker himself.
Hjalte and I have been working incredibly hard throughout Early Access and especially now to make Omelet You Cook the best version of itself. I know there's still some bug fixes, quality of life, and major features that you chefs want and we intend to give you. 1.0 will not be the end of Omelet You Cook's development. We love working on it and we're very excited to give it a proper 1.0 release and to provide some closure to Principal Clucker's story.
Thank you to all the chefs who've played, gave feedback, reported bugs, and left positive reviews. If you have any feedback at all (especially on the balancing of the updated aprons), now is the best time to let us know either on Steam or in our Discord!
As always we'll take everything into consideration. Bigger features like a random/draft pantry and being able to play previous Weekly runs will come sometime post-1.0.
We should also mention that anyone with the Red Apron Certified role in our Discord will be converted to a role signifying their support during Early Access, so if you haven't claimed yours yet go get certified:

82 out of 140 ingredients begin locked
The main purpose of this overhaul was to ensure new chefs don't get presented with overly complex ingredients
As such, you may need to unlock ingredients you previously could use

Secret Seasoning: 30% chance to Moldy (instead of 40%)

This has been an auto-pick ingredient so we wanted to reduce the power level slightly
Carrot: changed to +$0.25 per distinct ingredient pointed at
Green Onion: changed to +$0.25 per distinct ingredient touching this
These Roots have vastly outclassed others and are universally good. Again, we wanted to nerf them a tad to increase the comparative value of others
Garlic: changed to +$0.25 per 2 distinct ingredients on omelet (instead of per 1)
With the changes to Carrot/Green Onion, old Garlic would've been better in all situations so it also needed to be adjusted
In general we wanted to make it a little harder to earn tons of money each round. All of these nerfs impact ingredients that are good in every build to hopefully encourage chefs to take ingredients with more specific requirements so builds end up feeling more diverse.

We've got another exciting content update just in time for the holidays. For this update we wanted to expand on the Wrapped tag with new customers, helpers, and ingredients that play with it.
First we've got 8 new ingredients, some Christmas-y and some Wrapped-y.
Next we have 3 new helpers that should enable some unique new playstyles.
Furthermore we've added 4 new customers with the new Gift Wrapped trait. These customers can apply Wrapped to ANY ingredient, just in time for Middlesville Secret Santa!
And once again Principal Clucker has demanded 7 new achievements!
Aside from content we've also reworked the Legendary Helper selection to be a bit more dramatic!
We've also cleaned up some of the issues you discovered from the mid-run saves. The game now saves after every choice you make in the shop, so no more reloading to make different choices with new info.

Omelet You Cook is currently on sale for 20% off as part of the Steam Winter Sale. Afterwards to reflect the amount of content and work we've put into it, we'll be raising the price to $15 USD. This will be the final price as we get closer to a product we feel is ready for a 1.0 release (date TBD). This will be the cheapest you can get the game for awhile so tell your friends it's a great time to start cooking!

This week's update is all about the CUSTOMERS! We've added 14 new customer portraits: 3 brand new customers and 11 existing customers got a makeover, so every customer now has a unique portrait.
4 of these customers were voted for in the latest Discord poll. Which one are you most excited to see?
A couple of these customers have the new Bully trait which means they snatch a dollar from you every time you take an ingredient with a specific tag.
Additionally, the customers will line up and hold their plates during Principal Clucker's omelet inspection.
But this update isn't just about the customers in the game, it's also about the customers of the game! We've added 2 of the most highly requested features: mid-run saves and an info tab in the catalogue.
Your current run is now saved at the start of each round and the start of each shop. So when you've got a long endless run and it's time for bed you can feel free to exit and continue some other time!
Thank you to the chefs in our Discord who helped playtest the beta branch! It's likely we might've missed some bugs or exploits so if you notice anything weird please let us know via the in-game form, the Steam forums, or on Discord.
We've added a 4th tab in the Catalogue that shows tips for each of the major mechanics in the game. This should be a helpful reference if you can't quite remember the initial popups or want a slightly more in depth explanation. Let us know if you'd like to see anything else added here!
We've also added 3 new achievements.
Lastly we've made quite a few quality of life changes and balance adjustments you can check out below.

For today's patch notes I'm gonna start with the thing that all great online recipes do where I share a personal story. If you wanna skip ahead to content, feel free to scroll past.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Every year my sister (who came up with the name for Omelet You Cook) hosts Thanksgiving at her wonderful home (filled with dogs like Sunny and Brother btw!). She started it in her college days for people who didn't have nice family homes to return to, and it's continued on for over a decade now. After moving away from the US it's the only holiday I truly miss.
Part of what makes it so special for me is a little tradition where we go around the dinner table and everyone shares what they're thankful for. It's very cheesy and sappy and vulnerable and I love it. Since I'm not home for Thanksgiving I wanted to take a moment here to say how grateful I am for everything and everyone that's lead to the success of Omelet You Cook.
I'm grateful for my sister, my parents, my brother, and my friends who've supported and encouraged and believed in me for all the years I was making things before there was proof I could do this for a living. I'm grateful for all my game dev friends at Spelkollektivet, Stugan, and Ludokultur who've helped immensely by sharing their game dev journeys with me. I'm grateful for Hjalte who's the best bidness partner I could've asked for, and for Mareike, Nico, and Gus who've made incredible contributions to the game.
I'm grateful to Wholesome Games for featuring us, to NorthernLion and all the other streamers who showed the game to their audiences, and to all the game studios who've bundled with us. I'm extremely grateful to all 12,000+ chefs who've bought the game, to the 530+ who took the time to leave a review, and the 1,100+ chefs in our Discord!
Every step of developing Omelet You Cook has surpassed my expectations. That's partly due to luck, partly due to our hard work, and mostly because of all you chefs who've supported us, reported bugs, recommended the game to friends, and helped make Early Access so fun. Y'all are far too kind and we appreciate you <3
Anyways, we added 4 new ingredients!
Plus 3 new big-number-enabling Legendary helpers (and Hjalte absolutely cooked on the art for these).
We also finally got around to overhauling our menus, including a new Pause Menu.
And we finally added some proper art to the Settings Menu, as well as refining the existing settings. We even added a new "Unlock All" option for chefs who just want to see everything right away.
There's also some balance changes and bug fixes you can check out in the patch notes below.
We're gonna hold a poll to determine which animal customer y'all wanna see in the next update.

Egg Shells and Chocolate Coins now fall from the sky like Matches
Chocolate Cake, Graham Cracker, Meatball, Sun-Dried Tomato, and Beef Jerky are now Baked
Rock Salt is now Raw
All of the above were previously Processed, which is heavily overrepresented compared to Raw/Baked. This helps bring them closer in line with 38 Raw, 33 Baked, and 49 Processed. Future updates will continue to bring these more in balance
Cloning Vat is now Rare instead of Legendary
Going forward we want Legendary helpers to be your primary source of scaling. Cloning Vat doesn't directly let you scale and is also fun + enables cool builds so we want it to be more available
Chocolate Cake now gives -1 per Vegetable on omelet
This is an attempt to add a little nuance and identity to Cakes/Pies
Quality of Life
Turned off the parallax camera effect in the shop
Weekly Run now shows an indicator if you haven't attempted it at least once
Weekly Run now stays selected if it was your last played run

Updated Chocolate Bar with BRIX logo
Updated Chocolate Cake to be bigger

Fixed bug where mouse would drift with certain hardware

Looks like we've got ourselves in a sticky situation, chefs. Principal Clucker has introduced 6 new Sticky ingredients that will, as their name suggests, stick to other ingredients and form one massive cluster.
We've also added 3 new Sticky-related helpers.
And of course with new mechanics comes new customers: 3 new Drizzler customers who drizzle a bit of immovable Sticky honey on your omelet.
Yet again Principal Clucker demanded we prod the completionists with 2 new Sticky achievements:

Honey Comb rework: +1 per touching and +0.5x to each Meat touching, Rare instead of Legendary
Pyromanic customer trait can only spawn 1 matchstick per dispense
Some clever chefs were making matchsticks score points and therefore were incentivized to play as slow as possible to maximize the number of matchsticks on the omelet. Well played but Prinicipal Clucker was not pleased.
Tweaked Haunted customer trait:
Can't appear in Turn-Based mode
Ghosts spawn every 10-20 seconds instead of 8-12
Max 1 Ghost at a time
Ghosts expire after 20 seconds if they fail to haunt something
Dark Medallion: +2 per pts Legendary helper instead of +1
Banana: Added +2 pts

We've got a spooky update filled with tricks, treats, and the ghost of the most hated ingredient!
Introducing 3 new ingredients, one of which is 2-in-1 and another that's actually 5 distinct ingredients!
Plus 2 new helpers, one of which is featured in the latest Weekly Challenge.
And 3 new Haunted customers.
Lastly, we've reworked the input system to provide better support for controller input: specifically to get the game working much smoother on Steam Deck!

Mineral Update
Hello chefs! It's a great day for Sunny because we've reworked his beloved Minerals! We've added 7 new minerals and tweaked existing ones to help establish the identity of the Mineral tag. As part of this rework, all Minerals now trash for $2 instead of $1 by default. As a result

It's a great day for Sunny because we've reworked his beloved Minerals! We've added 7 new minerals and tweaked existing ones to help establish the identity of the Mineral tag. As part of this rework, all Minerals now trash for $2 instead of $1 by default.
As a result, Tin Cans no longer gain extra money from trashing since their Mineral tag inherently does so. Instead, every Tin Can contains a random ingredient that'll pop out when placed on the omelet!
To help you find these new Minerals, Sir Pecks-a-Lot has added 2 new crates to the shop: a cheap Mineral crate and Trash Bag Bundle, which contains 2-5 Trash Bags but gives you a dollar!
We've also added 2 new helpers: one to help nullify the negative points of Minerals and another that gives good mult but decreases with each Dispense gained.
Finally, there's 4 new customers available with a new Trashy trait that permanently adds a Trash Bag to your pantry on restock. Wait, is that Sunny the Trash Dog?
We've been seeing chefs celebrating getting every achievement, so to punish your boasting Principal Clucker has added 5 new achievements.
We've also made some changes following the Endless Update. First and foremost, we've been doing a ton of optimizations to improve performance in the late game. It should be much better, but please let us know if you're still experiencing poor performance.
We've been seeing chefs consistently get to Round 25+ before failing (usually due to performance, sorry!) We love that you can get that far but we want to ensure that Endless Mode remains engaging and challenging throughout and we're seeing most chefs blow past thresholds between rounds 12-20.
So we've decided to ramp up target thresholds quite drastically in Endless Mode. This will hopefully make the Endless experience more engaging and let you max your build before you get tired of it. As always, please let us know how you feel about these changes over on Discord!
