We're back with another update!
We hope you’re enjoying The Dead Await 1.0 release! We did our best to address as many issues as possible before launch, but a few additional problems were still discovered and reported after release. And now, it’s time for another update from us: “Trading 1.5”! 🥳
What the update includes:
• Profile ranks depending on playtime
• 5x combat animation speed option and improved existing options
• Dynamic shop discounts
• Bug fixes, balancing changes, and improvements
And to celebrate... we also have a special redeem code waiting for you!
Code: zz7f029kMC - valid until 30/06/2026 - Get 15,000 Z-coins!
Trading 1.5 - Daily Dynamic Discounts
Trading outposts and settlement shops will now offer daily dynamic discounts in addition to fixed discounts on different items, ranging from 10% to 50%.
We hope this feature makes trading more interesting and encourages players to do regular trading runs instead of focusing only on shop restocks, as you might miss valuable discounts and profitable trade opportunities that wouldn’t normally be worth it.
Ranks
As a way to showcase your experience and proudly prove you’re a veteran TDA player, we’ve added 10 different ranks based on total playtime.
The first time you load a save file, your playtime will be updated accordingly and displayed in the bottom right corner of the main menu. Ranks are now also visible in the shoutbox.
Combat Animations
We’ve reworked how combat animation speed is handled under the hood, which now allows us to properly speed up animations, including smaller timers that were previously unaffected.
To make combat even faster, we’ve also added a new 5x combat animation speed option that is nearly instant and allows for much quicker gameplay.
Thank you for being part of the journey. 🤍
v.1.0.2
Fixed an issue where moving a cube in Shelter and attempting to sell it later could cause the game to crash.
Fixed an issue where winning a jackpot in Slotomot-Z and then closing the game could result in a crash.
Added 10 different profile ranks based on playtime.
Added a 5x combat animation speed option and improved existing speed options.

It’s finally here… The Dead Await 1.0 has officially launched! 🥳
After years of designing, testing, tweaking, and refining every corner of the game, the full experience is now complete and ready for players worldwide.
From the first step into the wasteland to the toughest battles and hidden secrets, every location, character, and quest has been carefully crafted to deliver a rich and immersive journey.
We didn’t rush this release, but instead, we took the time to make sure The Dead Await feels polished, engaging, and alive from start to finish.
And now, the gates are finally open.
The full adventure begins now. The dead are waiting. 🧟
Before we continue, we’d like to share something important:
First of all, thank you all for the continued support, bug reports, feedback, and patience throughout development. It genuinely means a lot to us, including the motivation boost you provided.
We also want to address something many of you have noticed, certain bugs reappearing multiple times, even after previously being fixed. We completely understand how frustrating that can be.
As many of you know, The Dead Await has been in development for over 3 years using GameMaker, our engine of choice. During that time, we’ve had to continuously update the engine alongside development (multiple different versions). While these updates often bring improvements and new features, they can also introduce unexpected changes under the hood that are outside of our control. In some cases, systems that previously worked correctly may suddenly behave differently again after an update.
Whenever this happens, we go back through testing and QA to track down and fix issues once more, but unfortunately some problems can slip through or reappear unexpectedly during the process.
We hope this clears up some confusion regarding why certain bugs kept returning. Please know that we’re constantly working to improve the game and provide the best experience possible, and your reports and feedback genuinely help us do that.
We’re also incredibly thankful to indie.io for their support throughout development and for sharing the same vision we have for The Dead Await. From the very beginning, they’ve respected our long-term roadmap, trusted our creative direction, and understood the kind of experience we’re trying to build.
Their support and services have helped us push the game closer to the level of quality we’ve always aimed for, and we’re genuinely grateful to have them alongside us on this journey.
What the 1.0 includes:
• New locations to explore across the world
• New enemies and bosses to survive against
• More loot, including new weapon mods, cooking recipes, weapons, and armor
• Character skins, the Z-Shop, and the Vault Safe system
• Lots of small fixes, balancing changes, and improvements
We also have a launch special redeem code available for you!
Code: AEFdra2753 - valid until 30/06/2026 - Get 3,500 Z-coins!
Code: zz1r000jMC - valid only on launch day - Get 50,000 Z-coins!
We’re launching with a special contest! 🤠
For launch day only, we’ll be releasing a redeem code that grants you HALF A HUNDRED THOUSAND Z-COINS, that’s 50,000 Z-Coins just for joining the celebration! And if luck happens to be on your side while playing Slotomot-Z… you might just hit the GRAND JACKPOT and walk away with 999,999 Z-Coins.
Good luck out there and if you become the lucky winner, hit that F12 button and let the world know you’re one lucky survivor or better said... one hell of a son!
New features
Character skins
When starting a new game, you can now choose from several different heroes. New heroes can be unlocked by purchasing them from the Z-Shop.
These skins are primarily cosmetic, although some heroes begin with a slightly higher starting Max HP.
If you've progressed to Act II, character skins can also be changed by using the mirror in shelter.
Z-shop, Z-coins, Z-tasks & vault safe
We're introducing a new permanent currency - Z-coins, that is tied to your main profile and remains unchanged between save files. We've also made changes to existing Slotomot-Z to use Z-coins instead now, that makes cheating with reloading save files impossible now.
The Z-Shop is a brand-new store that is always accessible from the pause menu. Items can be purchased using Z-Coins, which can also be exchanged for Silver Coins.
Inside the shop, you’ll find a variety of items ranging from ammo and supplies to bundles and permanent unlockables. 🛒
Items bought from the shop will appear in Vault Safe, which is your permanent storage. From which you can later at any time withdraw items to your save file.
Z-Coins can be earned in several ways, one of which is through Z-Tasks. These are a list of challenges that can be completed at any time and with any save file.
Arena
The Arena is now open in Last Haven. Enter, survive, and win!
Gather your team, prepare for battle, and fight for a chance to claim the grand prize. 🏆
Each entry requires Z-Coins and the fee is non-refundable.
New fights become available after a certain amount of time has passed.
Faction center
Previously, gaining a high reputation with a faction only unlocked higher-tier jobs and offered little additional reward.
Now, we've introduced the Faction Center located in Hope, Town Hall.
Earn enough reputation with a faction to unlock its special storage room and claim epic rewards waiting inside.
Act III
More of EVERYTHING!
Act III brings a huge expansion to the world of The Dead Await.
There’s more of everything waiting for you: new locations to discover, new NPCs to meet, dangerous new enemies and powerful bosses to defeat, and a wide range of new quests to undertake. You’ll also encounter new random events across the world, making every journey through the wasteland feel less predictable.
On top of that, Act III introduces a large amount of new loot, including weapons, equipment, and other valuable items to help you survive the increasingly dangerous world.
Increased level cap!
That’s right - Angel and the group can now reach a new maximum level of 20!
Push your characters beyond their previous limits, grow stronger with each level, and unlock the full potential of your team. With the higher level cap comes access to powerful new weapons and weapon mods, allowing you to build even deadlier loadouts.
Survive long enough, gear up wisely, and you might just become the unkillable force the wasteland fears. 💀
QoL improvements & fixes
We’ve completed another full playthrough of the game and carefully reviewed player feedback to make sure v1.0 runs as smoothly as possible.
Along the way, we tracked down and fixed a large number of issues, improving stability and overall gameplay.
We’ve worked hard to resolve the remaining known issues and deliver the most polished version of the game so far.
Thank you for being part of the journey. 🤍

After a long journey of building, testing, breaking, fixing, and rebuilding again, the full game is now complete and available to play in Beta. This means the entire experience is ready, but we’re opening it up to players early so we can polish everything together with your feedback before the final release.

• New locations to explore across the world
• New enemies and bosses to survive against
• More loot, including new weapon mods, cooking recipes, weapons, and armor
• Character skins, the Z-Shop, and the Vault Safe system
• Lots of small fixes, balancing changes, and improvements
While the game is fully playable from start to finish, this Beta phase is about refinement. We'll be focusing on:
• Bug fixes and stability improvements • Gameplay balance • Performance optimization • Quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback
Your feedback will directly shape the final 1.0 release, so if you encounter anything strange, broken, or just have ideas on how things could be better - we want to hear it.
We'll be covering the new features in more detail in our upcoming devlog.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
If we haven’t responded to your feedback yet, please bear with us a little longer. Thank you for your patience 🤍

Act II: Origins - Out Now!
The wait is over... our biggest content update yet has finally arrived! 🥳
We took extra time to polish every detail, and instead of cutting corners to meet the deadline, we pushed ourselves to deliver everything we promised and more. Act II brings a whole lot of new content:
Bigger, more diverse locations to explore
New enemy types to test your survival skills
More loot and discoveries
Fresh challenges and rising tension around every corner
And most importantly: your very own permanent underground shelter with full base-building mode!
This is the world of The Dead Await, expanding like never before. Dive in, claim your shelter, and shape your survival story.
🛠 Build Your Shelter 🛠
With over 50 unique cubes at your disposal, it’s time to design and shape your own underground shelter. One cube at a time, construct a shelter that fits your playstyle - whether that means maximizing production, fortifying defenses, or creating a safe haven for survivors.
Automate resource production and manage workers, power, and supplies
Build layered defenses to hold back relentless hordes
Expand with five cube categories: Production, Base, Defense, Storage, and Decoration
Unlock new cubes and upgrades as your shelter rating grows
But survival doesn’t come easy, the sound of machinery and construction risks drawing the dead closer. Keep your armory stocked by transferring spare weapons and gear, ensuring others are ready to fight when the walls are tested. And when the horde falls silent, send out scavenging expeditions to bring back resources and loot to keep your shelter thriving.
The Story Continues...
You and your crew are finally ready to head out to Westwood Hospital. But what’s really left of the place? Has it already been picked clean, or is something worse waiting inside?
You’ll find some answers there, but every answer only raises new questions. This chapter takes the outbreak in a direction you haven’t seen before.
The hardest part isn’t just surviving, it’s figuring out who people really are when the masks come off. Can you still tell who’s a friend, and who’s a threat?
Defeat Powerful New Enemies
You’ve faced zombies and bandits before... but in Act II, a new kind of threat emerges. Locals call them psychos, clowns, the deranged.
Maybe the end of the world broke their minds… or maybe they were always like this, and the apocalypse just made it clear.
Either way, it’s up to you to figure out what they really are and if there’s any sense to be made at all! 🤡
Explore Tons of New Content
In Act II, we’ve expanded on everything you enjoyed in Act I - there’s just more of it all!
You’ll find hours of new content to dive into: bigger areas to explore, new types of enemies to fight, more loot to grab, and plenty of fresh challenges to test yourself against.
And once food, water, and fuel stop being your biggest worry, you can finally kick back in your shelter, customize it, and plan ahead for what’s coming next. The world is still brutal, but now you’ve got more ways to face it.
Feedback & Future
We’re launching a new poll, and unlike Little Billy, Auntie Nell isn’t really asking for your opinion.
She’s warning you instead: vote carefully, and be patient…
Character Skins & Customization
Mystery Update
Trading 2.0 (Improved/Reworked)
Permanent Status Cards & Increased Difficulty
Modding Support
We're not including major content updates (Act II Final and Act III) this time since it remains our primary goal.
We know the wait for Act II felt long, and we hear your feedback loud and clear. The Dead Await is a massive project for our small team, and we’ve been pushing hard to stay true to our promises, building it with care and dedication. ❤️
Your feedback has already helped shape the game into something better for everyone. Looking back at past updates and changelogs, it’s clear we’ve made real progress together with your support.
This update is mostly about new content, but we’ve also fixed a few long-standing issues the community mentioned:
You can finally skip long cutscenes 🎉
Trader reputation now increases properly instead of barely moving
And about the road to 1.0:
Act II: Final will wrap up the new zone with the rest of the content and locations
Act III (1.0 update) will be smaller and focused on the final main quest
Stay tuned for more updates, and thanks for being part of this journey. 🙏
We hope you enjoy the update! 😇
If we haven’t responded to your feedback yet, please bear with us a little longer. Thank you for your patience 🤍

Hey there, survivors! 👋
We're happy to be back with some awesome news about Act II and base building, the huge updating that you've been waiting for is almost complete now!
As many of you know, there comes a time in any game’s development where we need to go heads-down and focus entirely on building, polishing, and testing. That means fewer updates from us… but a whole lot more happening behind the scenes. And trust us... a lot has been happening.
So, let's dive into what we've been working on... 👇
New Settlements
We’ve just crossed off one of the biggest milestones for Act II: all the new settlements are now complete! That includes new characters, fresh dialogue, and of course, new buildings and cube types.
Back in Act I, you got your first taste of a major settlement with The Bazaar. If you loved exploring that area, you’re in for a treat as Act II expands on that foundation in a big way, with multiple, larger settlements waiting to be discovered.
A World Full of Secrets
Act II isn’t just bigger, it’s deeper. Expect more intrigue and plenty of mysterious places to poke around in.
Each new location has its own hidden stories, dangers, and choices to make. Where will the trail from Westwood Hospital lead you next? That’s for you to find out...
You’re Getting Noticed…
The more good you do, the more people notice and that comes with some baggage. Word’s getting around about what you’ve done, and let’s just say… not everyone’s happy.
You’re not flying under the radar anymore. People are talking. Some want to meet you, some want to thank you… and some really want you gone.
You're no longer just a survivor... you're a player in a much bigger game.
That’s all we have to say for now without spoiling Angel's adventures.
So let’s move on and talk about the next big feature we think you’re really gonna love!
Base Building! 🤯
You heard that right... you’re finally getting your own personal shelter, and yes, that means base building is officially happening!
It wasn’t part of our original plan. It was one of those “maybe one day” ideas we kept on the list, depending on how much you all wanted it. But then it ended up being the most upvoted feature in our in-game poll and so we listened. 🧡
Now we’re excited to show you what we’ve been working on!
Here's How it Works:
You'll be managing supplies, power, and workers to expand and improve. That means building better production units, stronger defenses, and yep… way more storage (we heard you asking for more space 😇).
You’ll also be able to customize your shelter with decorations and upgrades to really make it your own. It’s all about growing your base into something you're proud of and something that can survive whatever’s coming next.
List of Features:
● Defending your shelter from hordes
● Building and upgrading turrets
● Various cube types: production, storage, decoration, and more
● Repair mechanics
● Auto-selling produced resources
● Scavenging missions
● Tons of upgrades
● Managing power, workers, and your shelter’s overall rating
● And a lot more...
Integrated Camp
What about my mobile camp?
Don’t worry 😉 your camp (and all the upgrades you’ve worked for) isn’t going anywhere. It’ll be fully integrated into your shelter, so you’ll still have access to everything, just from the comfort of your new home base.
What's Next?
With all that out of the way, we’ve finally hit the stage where we can wrap up the main quest and keep adding in side quests. That’s the last big step before the update is ready to launch!
We’re almost there!
Thank you all for your support and patience 🤍

Hey everyone 👋
We're back with a small update, some recent progress news about Act II, and answers to a few frequently asked questions. But first, let's go over the changes introduced in this update:
Optimized loading screens and a new intro skip option – The initial loading screen is now at least twice as fast! Plus, with the new option to skip intro videos, you can jump into the game almost instantly.
Main menu skin customization – We've heard your feedback about the graphics being too flashy, so we've added new customization options for the main menu.
Updated pause menu – We've integrated several features from the main menu into the pause menu for convenience, along with performance optimizations to reduce clunkiness.
New item: Potion of Resolve – This potion allows you to recharge auto-resolve points.
Improved retreat mechanics – Retreating from a group of enemies will no longer trigger multiple threat reactions. Instead, linked enemies will collectively reduce your overall retreat chance, making the system feel more intuitive and fair.
Top Tony in East Bazaar now sells entry-level rifles and sniper rifles, so be sure to check out his stock!
More bug fixes – As always, we've squashed some more bugs to improve your experience!
🎁 A Thank-You Gift for Early Access Supporters!
As a token of appreciation, here's a special redeemable code for you! You can use it until March 31, 2025:
🔸 Code: springab01
Can you guess what it is? 🥳 Hint: Check the changelog for something related to Spring!
Thank you all for your continued support! Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, let us know your thoughts. We promise to respond to all your feedback on our discussion forums as soon as we can.
Act II Progress
It's time to share what we've been working on recently! We're just as excited about developing Act II as you are about playing it, so without any spoilers, let's dive into our latest progress.
Open-World Expansion
One of our major milestones: all open-world locations (excluding settlements) are now complete! That’s a total of 8 unique locations, each branching into fully developed sub-locations. For comparison, Act I only had 4 locations, and only two - Community Center and Devfronds was large enough to include sub-locations.
New Story Characters & Quest Progression
We've also made great progress in character development, completing over half of the new story characters set to debut in Act II! The main quest now extends up to the introduction of the final two caravan members: Jerry and Emilia. Along with that, we've finished all the animations and related content, making them fully playable!
Settlements Are Getting Bigger
We're making significant progress on settlements too! Wastewood is fully finished, while Last Haven is partially complete. Settlements in Act II will be much, much larger than those in Act I. Closer in scale to Bazaar. In total, 6 new settlements are planned, compared to 4 in Act I.
What’s Next?
Next, we’ll be focusing on:
Completing the remaining settlements
Expanding the main quest
Introducing base-building mechanics
With all that done, we’ll be ready for a new Beta! We can't wait to share more of Act II with you soon. Stay tuned!
F.A.Q.
Q: What’s taking so long to finish Act II? A: It’s been 4 months since our Early Access launch, and in that time, we’ve already released two major content updates, plus numerous patches addressing bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, all with your incredible support!
We also took some time off in January to avoid burnout. Originally, Act II and The Dead Await as a whole were planned to be smaller, but instead of cutting features, we decided to expand the scope to the maximum we can handle, including a full base-building system, which wasn’t in our original plans.
To put it in perspective:
Act II’s map area is double the size of Act I
At least twice the new content, enemies, and challenges!
More mechanics, more depth, and more to explore!
Q: Are there any more side updates planned? A: Right now, our top priority is Act II, and we’re focused on getting it live as soon as possible. However, we’ll continue monitoring our in-game poll, and if a highly requested feature is feasible, we’ll consider adding another major side update in the meantime.
Q: Are there any new features planned for Act II? A: Absolutely! Some highlights include:
New cube types, like Church, which lets you reset skill points
New features like the Arena and Base Building
And much more!
We’ve got plenty of exciting ideas, but we’d love to hear yours too! If you have suggestions, make sure to share them with us!
Q: What’s the best way to help the development? The most helpful things you can do are sharing feedback, suggesting ideas, and leaving reviews. They make a bigger impact than you might think! Another great way to help is by assisting new players with their questions, especially since we don’t always have time to respond to every question right away.
Your involvement makes a huge difference, and we truly appreciate it! 😇
Q: What are the post-launch plans after 1.0? A: As we get closer to 1.0, we plan to release a new roadmap outlining our post-launch goals. We’re exploring ideas like:
Procedurally generated areas
Enemies that scale with player level
Powerful new items
Maybe even an item auction system!
Of course, we want the community to be part of these decisions, so when the time comes, we’ll update the in-game poll to make sure every voice counts!
Thank you all for your support and patience 🤍

Our next big update is here!
Get ready for New Encounters 🥳 the content update we've been developing alongside Act II! This one's big, and we hope it delivers everything you've been waiting for...
Our in-game poll showed that, aside from Act II, more random events were the most requested feature. We couldn’t keep you waiting that long, so we got to work on another major update, that's also adding new minigames and some other exciting features.
Let’s dive into what we’ve been working on 🧐
More Random Events
As promised, we've added even more random events, each packed with crucial choices and intriguing outcomes. You might stumble upon a stranded survivor, pick up a mysterious radio signal, unexpectedly face a zombie horde, or encounter a desperate trader offering a mystery box.
Rumor has it that some have discovered fragments of a powerful artifact called the Shattered Eye inside that very box. Collect them all, combine them together, and you may unlock a new power. Whatever fate has in store for you this time, good luck!
Hit The Jackpot!
Progressive jackpot? You bet!
Introducing Slotomot-Z, a slot machine designed to give you a break from the usual zombie apocalypse chaos and test your luck!
Some of the taverns you’ve likely visited have already installed the Slotomot-Z, including the one in Mind Metropolis. Give it a spin and see what fortune has in store for you!
To bring a touch of shared excitement, we’ve added complementary online features to The Dead Await with this update! We’ll dive into the details below, but when it comes to Slotomot-Z, online players will find something extra, rather than a fixed 50,000-coin offline jackpot, they’ll have a shot at the massive progressive jackpot, which at the time of writing this is 89,650!
R-QANONOID
You’ve searched through countless PC files in the zombie apocalypse, hunting for clues, secrets, and anything worth the time, yet not a single game in sight. Strange, isn’t it?
Well, that’s about to change! Get ready to put your breakout skills to the test in R-QANONOID. Beat all the levels, and there’s a special reward waiting for you!
Shoutbox / LiveFeed & Unlockables
Connect with other survivors out there, our unique approach to all things online.
Before going into details we want to clarify one thing first so that it doesn't cause any confusion. The Dead Await is and will stay with offline and singleplayer game as the main priority. But, as the game grows with future updates we wanted to introduce some complimentary online functionality that would boost the fun. Things that are online will be completely optional and even then will also work while staying offline.
Shoutbox / LiveFeed
Let's introduce the Shoutbox (or LiveFeed), a fast and easy way to connect with other players through short messages. Each player can send a message every 30 seconds, ensuring a steady flow of conversation while keeping spam to a minimum. Offensive or inappropriate content will be automatically removed, so please keep it civil!
In addition to player messages, the LiveFeed will also showcase real-time updates on exciting in-game events, such as major player achievements, jackpot wins from the newly added Slotomot-Z, and other noteworthy moments. Stay engaged and celebrate the action as it happens! 🎉
Unlockables
This update introduces a brand-new type of unlockable: redeemable codes that grant instant rewards! These codes work both online and offline, offering two exciting ways to find them. Some can be discovered in-game during your adventures, so keep an eye out for hidden notes! Others will be distributed online for special occasions, giving you access to exclusive rewards when we decide to share them.
With this system, we can roll out smaller updates more efficiently and celebrate special events with unique items. As a token of appreciation for our amazing Early Access supporters, those who’ve been with us from the start, reported bugs, and helped shape the game... here’s our very first code:
zXfS972jzB
Redeem it before March 31, 2025 to claim your reward!
We won’t spoil the surprise, so go ahead and redeem it to see what’s waiting for you! ❤️
New Game Packages
When starting a new game, you’ll notice we’ve introduced new game packages. The first step toward even more customizable options coming in future updates!
For now, you have the freedom to skip the tutorial and prologue entirely if you’d like. Plus, you can boost your character right from the beginning with packages like the VIP Package and Caravan X, designed to give you extra advantages. These can be unlocked using the new code redeem function, with codes hidden throughout the game for you to discover.
For our returning players, if you’re starting fresh, you can redeem these codes right away:
V.I.P. Package – The0N3nOLy Caravan X Package – XCarAVan1X
We hope you enjoy the new options!
Act II Progress
We've made huge progress on Act II since our last devlog! Every location, down to the smallest details is now fully completed, and we’ve officially moved on to expanding the main storyline and introducing new characters.
We truly appreciate your patience and are just as eager as you are to see Act II finished! As we've mentioned before, this chapter is significantly larger than Act I (which is already complete) and far bigger than Act III, which focuses primarily on the final quest.
So far, we’ve wrapped up all new enemies, items, locations, cards, perks, and recipes. What remains is creating new quests, characters, and base-building mechanics, the finishing touches to bring Act II to life!
Stay tuned for more updates, and thanks for being part of this journey! 🙏
Ambient OST
As we’ve been replaying The Dead Await, we realized that while the action-packed combat soundtrack adds intensity, sometimes a more ambient alternative would help create a calmer atmosphere—allowing you to focus better on your card choices.
To address this, we’ve added a new Ambient OST toggle, letting you switch between the two styles at any time during combat. Whether you prefer high-energy battles or a more strategic, immersive vibe, the choice is yours! 🎶
Updated Save File Format & Validity Checkmarks
We've got good news and bad news this time 😶.
Let’s start with the bad news... we discovered that our current save file format wasn’t as future-proof as we had hoped. Because of this, we had to revamp the format significantly, which unfortunately means that older save files won’t be compatible. There was no simple way to convert them to the new system.
Now, onto the good news! 💪 After updating the save format:
Save file sizes have been reduced by 80%!
We fixed a bug where event outcomes weren’t saving properly.
Each playthrough now has a unique game ID, making it easier to track and manage multiple saves.
A new validity checkmark detects if a save file has been modified or tampered with.
This update also opens the door for potential future features that wouldn’t have been possible before, such as an online item auction (just as an example 😉).
& More
Last but not least, we’ve added a few more items and squashed some more bugs in this update.
We hope you enjoy the New Encounters update, now that the additional random events are complete, we’re excited to see which feature will be up next based on your votes in our poll! 😇
If we haven’t responded to your feedback yet, please bear with us a little longer. Thank you for your patience 🤍

Exciting Updates in The Dead Await!
We’ve been hard at work creating new combat cards and character perks to provide even more options for varied and unique builds. In addition to fresh content, we’ve introduced several new features, including the combat auto-resolve option, which we covered in our previous devlog.
Finally, with numerous fixes and enhancements, The Dead Await is now more stable and polished than ever. We’re dedicated to delivering the best experience possible, and we can’t wait to hear more of your feedback! 🥳
New Combat Cards
We've introduced rare, epic, and legendary attack cards for all weapon types! A total of 24 new combat cards have been added, offering even more variety and power. Now's the time to dive into the apocalypse and search for every Book of Wisdom you can find.
Good luck, and may your journey be victorious!😉
New Character Perks
We’ve added 16 new perks to enhance your gameplay! These new perks give you even more ways to customize your playstyle, making your weapon attacks deadlier, increasing your chances of eliminating negative status cards, turning attack misses into blocks, reducing the likelihood of being crippled, and much more...
With these additions, you’ll have even more strategic options to survive the apocalypse. Get ready to experiment with different combinations and find the perfect perks to suit your playstyle!
Combat Auto-resolve
All it takes is one click, and the loot is yours!
While taking down zombies and bandits is always a blast (and who doesn’t love some sweet loot?), we know that once your group of survivors reaches higher levels, things can start to feel a bit repetitive as they breeze through enemies. That’s why this update is designed to shake things up...
Here’s how it works:
You’ll start with 5 auto-resolve points readily available, and you’ll earn a new point every day. Combat encounters that are well below your level will be marked as safe for auto-resolve, costing only a small amount of HP, ammo, and one auto-resolve point.
Enemies that are closer to your level will be marked as challenging and will require a bit more HP and resources to resolve.
However, if the enemy level is significantly higher than yours, or the encounter is tied to a contract or quest, auto-resolve will not be available.
Redesigned Enemy Levels
Previously, enemy levels were hidden until the combat encounter, and each enemy had its own individual level within the encounter. We’ve redesigned this system so that now the entire enemy group has a single combat level, calculated as the average of the individual enemy levels.
Enemy levels are now also displayed next to their icons, and you can toggle this feature on or off in the game options for a more customizable experience.
Dev. Console
You can now enable or disable the developer console directly from the game options. Pressing the [~] key will open the console, where you can view a list of available commands by typing /help.
If you find yourself stuck due to a bug or simply want to bypass a tricky situation, the console gives you the flexibility to do so. However, be careful as incorrect commands could cause crashes. If you're experiencing any issues, please reach out to us on the Steam discussions or Discord, and we'd be happy to assist you!
New Details
We’ve also added new details to the world, including fresh blood splatter effects, spider webs, and other atmospheric touches that bring the environment to life. Keep an eye out for these new additions as you explore and survive the apocalypse!
& More
Maintaining your sanity is crucial for survival in the game. if your sanity reaches zero, it’s game over. To help you stay on top of your mental state, we’ve added additional warnings when your sanity starts to drop. You’ll now see a bright flash and receive a notification to ensure you don’t miss the warning.
We've also added a new poll to help us see which new features you're most interested in. So, go ahead and vote for your favorite one! 😇
Please keep in mind that The Dead Await is still in Early Access and we've only just began our journey together! We really hope to achieve much more with the help of our community 🙏
If we haven’t responded to your feedback yet, please bear with us a little longer. Thank you for your patience 🤍
