While this is technically a minor update from Version 1.3.5, the amount of content is on par with a major update. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to experience how much Respark has evolved! (And if you feel inclined, we would be incredibly grateful if you could leave a Steam review as well.)
This notice contains spoilers. Please be aware of this if you have not yet reached the true ending.
Major Changes
A New Hanabi Enhancement: Flufflift
Flufflift is an enhancement that can be applied to Handheld Hanabi and modifies the protagonist’s falling behavior while firing.
Flufflift can be upgraded from Lv.1 to Lv.3, with the following effects at each level:
Lv.1: The protagonist’s fall speed becomes slower.
Lv.2: The protagonist remains stationary vertically.
Lv.3: The protagonist slowly rises.
Speedrun Mode Has Arrived!
Speedrun Mode is now unlocked when playing with a save file that has reached the True Ending.
You can connect to LiveSplit and have the timer operate automatically.
A starttimer command is sent when the speedrun begins, and a split command is sent whenever a boss is defeated.
If the timing mode is set to “In-Game Time,” pause and resume commands are also sent to exclude loading times and terrain generation times.
Due to differences in timing precision, the in-game timer and LiveSplit’s timer will not match exactly. If you use LiveSplit, we recommend using the LiveSplit time as your official record.
Currently, only “Defeat Dimorphos/MiRA (NG+)” is implemented in-game.
“Defeat MiRA (NG)” is planned for Version 2.0.0 or later. Because Version 2.0.0 is expected to add many new events, it was not included in Version 1.4.0.
Please note that future updates may still affect run times.
All Important Items Are Now Displayed on the Map
All candies and other items that were not shown on the map in Version 1.3.5 and earlier will now appear on the map.
If no icon appears on the map, it is guaranteed that the area contains no important items.
When the map is not open, icons for items remaining in the current area are now displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.
New Difficulty Settings and the Definition of “Difficulty Code”
Added the following three difficulty settings and rebuilt the formula used to calculate Estimated Level.
No Level Up
No Jetpack
Stamina UP Rarity
Defined a new concept: the “Difficulty Code.”
This is a short string that represents a specific set of difficulty settings.
For example, the Difficulty Code “E7-B6-x2” means Enemy Challenge = 7, Boss HP = 6, and Damage Multiplier = 2x.
You can copy the Difficulty Code for your current settings, or paste a Difficulty Code to apply its settings.
The previous “Heart Spawn Frequency” setting has been renamed to “Heart Rarity” starting in Version 1.4.0, and the meaning of the values has been reversed.
We apologize for the confusion, but this change allows us to unify the rule that “higher values mean higher difficulty,” consistent with other settings.
Raised the maximum Estimated Level from 10 to 20. The unrounded Estimated Level (before rounding and before the cap of 20) is now also shown in parentheses.
The number of Black Diamond rewards based on Estimated Level is the same for all Estimated Levels of 10 or higher.
Results Screen
After defeating the final boss following the True Ending, a results screen will now be displayed.
The results screen shows your Difficulty Code, which final boss you defeated, the game version, and the date.
In Speedrun Mode, your clear time is also shown.
Other Changes
Changes to “Hanabi Enhancement: Homing”
Throwing Hanabi can now receive the Homing enhancement (excluding Maple, which has innate homing ability).
Homing has been changed from a simple On/Off setting to a three‑level system: Lv.1–Lv.3.
As a rough comparison, the previous “Homing: On” is closest to the new “Homing Lv.2.”
Reduced the price of Homing candies slightly and also reduced the chance for them to appear as shop items.
Increased the overall spawn rate of Homing candies by approximately 1.5x.
Changes to “Hanabi Enhancement: Max Ammo Up”
Reduced the overall increase in maximum ammo granted by this enhancement.
Increased the spawn rate of Max Ammo Up candies by approximately 2x.
Changes to “Hanabi Enhancement: Damage Up”
Expanded the enhancement from “Lv.1–Lv.5” to “Lv.1–Lv.10.”
Reduced the damage gained per enhancement by roughly half.
Damage gained from Hanabi leveling is equivalent to two Damage Up enhancements.
Reduced the ammo price increase caused by Damage Up enhancements to 3/4 of the previous amount.
Slightly lowered the price of Damage Up candies.
Adjustments to Individual Hanabi
Adjusted the damage of the following Hanabi:
Bamboo, Grape (per‑shot damage cap): 100 → 180
Convallaria: 45 → 75

When collecting a Max Ammo Up candy, the newly added ammo capacity is now automatically filled.
Made dialogue skipping faster, and skipping is now interrupted when performing actions such as hiding the window, forwarding text, or opening the chat history.
Improved the behavior of Custom Hanabi’s stars.
Fixes
Fixed an issue where Launch Skyrocket Hanabi with the “Ghost Hanabi” enhancement would not deal self‑damage when exploding inside terrain.
Fixed an issue where Lycoris’s whistle was incorrect.
Fixed an issue where the red indicator showing “unread dialogue” remained after finishing a conversation with Tama.
Fixed an issue where pressing buttons during the transition from the pause menu to the title screen could cause bugs.

Although this update is as large as a major version, the next major update is planned to be Version 2.0.0.
In Version 2.0.0, we plan to add many new NPCs and events, expanding the worldbuilding and adding more depth to existing events.
In Version 2.1.0, we plan to introduce new collectible elements.

When using a gamepad, a cursor is now displayed, allowing you to aim.
This change also fixes an issue where Hanabi could fly in unintended directions when fired while climbing ladders.
Updated the shop lineup in World 8.
When standing in front of upgrade-type shop items, their effects are now displayed along with their names.
“Spooky” will now throw bombs after a random time interval even when the protagonist is not directly below it.
This makes bomb landing positions more varied, even if the protagonist stays in the same spot.
Adjusted the behavior of “Spooky's” bombs.
After 5 minutes have passed since the start of the fight, bombs will no longer drop items.
This completely removes literal infinite farming spots from the game.
The “5 minutes” duration is the same across all difficulties, but the number of bombs increases with higher “Enemy Challenge” settings, allowing for more farming potential (with increased risk, of course).
Increased the damage required for Hanabi to trigger the bomb’s flashing state from 1 to 100.
This reduces cases where bombs explode prematurely near the top of the stage.
Increased the damage required for Hanabi to destroy bombs (i.e., bomb HP) from 500 to 1000.
This also reduces premature explosions near the top of the stage.
Remaining HP is now displayed.
The rings thrown by Fortuna now display their remaining HP.
When the protagonist’s HP is 3 or higher, hearts will no longer appear during the 'Oumuamua fight.
Voltamin’s heart bullets are now drawn in front of vines and similar objects to improve visibility.

Fixes
Fixed an issue where Mistletoe wouldn't fall to the ground when attached to D-Rex’s shield and D-Rex moved.
Fixed an issue where D-Rex’s lightning could deal damage to enemies twice.
Fixed an issue where Stegrapher’s motor sound could continue playing if it was defeated during a charge.
Removed the note in the “Upgrade: Knockback Reversal” description stating that “knockback on direct shell hits is unchanged,” since Hanabi that have shells (Skyrockets, Bottle Rockets) can never receive this upgrade.
While “infinite farming” may sound appealing, in this game it forces players into repetitive tasks for long periods, creates a situation where stopping at any time feels like a loss, and goes against the resource-management nature of a roguelite. For these reasons, it has been removed in this update.

The spawn rate of hearts that appear on the map will not exceed the rate at setting 5.
However, the restore-to amount of Heart Servers increases, and the drop rate of hearts from crates and enemies also increases, so the game does not become harder compared to before.
These heart-related adjustments address an issue where too many hearts were appearing on the map, making other items less likely to spawn.
Adjustments (Grand Hanabi-related)
Until the player reaches the first ending, Grand Hanabi will not appear except in scenes where their appearance is guaranteed.
Grand Hanabi will now only appear starting from World 2.
After the first ending, slightly increased the chance for Chrysanthemum to appear randomly in shops and as placed items.

Changes
When using a gamepad, Squirroll can now be performed even if the left/right input and the Squirroll button are pressed sequentially with a slight delay.

Adjustments (XP-related)
Adjusted the XP required for leveling up all Hanabi.
Hanabi are now categorized into two groups—standard and rare—based on their rarity.
Standard: (1500, 2000)
Rare: (2000, 2500)
Before Version 1.3.0, all Hanabi used (500, 2500).
Adjusted the XP dropped by enemies.
King Moldee: 30XP → 50XP
Scouptor, Stegrapher, Pteraver: 150XP → 200XP
D-Rex: 150XP → 300XP
In addition to the previous 10XP and 50XP triangles, a larger 100XP triangle can now drop.
Changed how the value determining “how many strong enemies appear” is calculated.

With this addition, it is now possible to reach Difficulty Level 10 even with Darkness Mode turned off.

The estimated difficulty level is capped at 10. However, this upper limit may be raised in the future.
The amount of damage the protagonist actually takes is now displayed slightly above the character.

If the game is updated while your adventure is suspended and the method of calculating estimated difficulty level changes, the estimated difficulty level at the start of the adventure will now be used for achievement unlock checks and similar evaluations.
This applies to adventures started in Version 1.2.1 or later.
There is a possibility that the estimated difficulty level calculation method will be revised in the near future.
When switching Sub Hanabi or Preferential Training in the Hanabi Management menu using a gamepad, the corresponding explanation will now be displayed.

Items that were once deferred will no longer be picked up again by Hanabi enhanced with an Item Grabber.
Adjustments
Maple’s performance and behavior have been significantly reworked.
Increased its base damage from 15 to 25.
Removed gravity and lift, causing it to fly straight when not homing.
Removed the mechanic where it enters homing mode upon hitting an enemy; instead, it now enters homing mode when it hits terrain.
When hitting an enemy while in homing mode, it now returns to non‑homing mode.
The strength of the homing effect is now highest immediately after hitting terrain.
Maple now changes color depending on whether it is in homing mode.
Chinese Lantern no longer falls due to gravity.
Fixes
Fixed an issue where mouse input could stop working after the Respark application window regained focus.
Fixed an issue where Chinese Lantern’s DPS was not displayed for Level 2 and above.

When standing at the respawn point in the base, the method for exiting the game is now displayed.
Adjusted the dialog button colors to be more intuitive.
The Enigmatic Network logo is now displayed when launching the game.

Increased the price of the Purple Sequin Bottle from 500 to 1000, and the Gold Sequin Bottle from 2500 to 3000.
Reduced the time it takes for Voltamin to attack after noticing the player, as well as the time before counterattacking after taking damage. The attack interval itself remains unchanged.
Adjusted the overall price curve of various candies.
Hanabi Enhancement Candies that do not appear as icons on the map will now spawn more frequently in rooms with a higher ★ rating.
There are two types of treasures in this game: those placed at predetermined locations before terrain generation, and those placed after terrain generation in suitable spots. This update concerns the latter.

The flag for the bow down event in World 9 has been reset so that the event can occur again. This is a response to the text-related issue that occurred in Versions 1.0.0–1.0.3. Players who have not yet reached that point will not be affected.

An NPC will now always appear near the exit of Area 4-H, and that NPC will always offer the Hanabi License option.
The overall probability of NPCs offering a Hanabi License throughout the game has been slightly increased.
When the boss in World 9 opens their umbrella, all Hanabi currently on the screen will now be cleared once.
Fixes
Fixed an issue where all conversation text in the bow down event in World 9 would display as “failed.”
When interacting with an NPC and performing a Squirroll at the same time, the Squirroll will now end immediately to prevent the player character from moving too far away from the NPC.
If the player character happens to fall far below the stage, they will now respawn at the position of the door they entered from.

Fixed an issue where holding Esc or Left Ctrl from the moment the staff credits begin would prevent the skip from triggering, causing the credits to never end.

Changes
Hanabi items dropped on the ground will no longer be picked up on contact. They can now only be obtained by interacting with them (W key).
As a result of this change, Hanabi items on the ground can no longer be collected by the Item Grabber. Thank you for your understanding.
The info panel for Hanabi being sold or currently owned now displays its unlock status (Undiscovered / Discovered / Unlocked).
XP and ammo that cannot currently be picked up are now displayed semi-transparently.
[Updated 18:45JST] Due to a bug that caused Hanabi to become unobtainable in the tutorial, we have temporarily reverted the game back to ver. 1.0.0. Please wait a little while.
