I have updated the "testing" version of Star Explorers to 2.3.
I was able to identify the cause of the problem where fuel crystals would not be recognized as discovered. It was a long, tedious night, but eventually I was able to reproduce the problem.
I discovered it entered the game when I added the feature that highlights stars with different colored circles (Star Chart Upgrade). This feature checks each star when you leave a planet, and updates the star's "skills" from a file, so it knows which ones were scanned or not.
Well, it was also updating the star around which your fuel planet is orbiting. So that star's skill which determines whether fuel was found would get overwritten by the older information in the file.
Anyway, it should work now!
Installing Version 2.3
I am repeating this information again. If you have not already upgraded to version 2.2, in order to run version 2.3, you will have to first uninstall the game, and delete any remaining files completely. Access the game files with "Star Explorers > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files"
It's advisable that you just star a brand new game. However, you can save your saved game folder that you named, but you will need to remove it from the game folder.
Make sure any remaining .txt and .cfg files are deleted.
Go to "Star Explorers > Properties > Betas" and choose "testing" from the drop down menu.
Then uninstall, and reinstall the game.
Run the game and start a new game.
If you want to continue your saved game, give it the exact same name as the old game. Then exit the game.
Navigate to "C:/Program Data/Star Explorers" and replace the new saved game folder with your old saved game folder.
Now run the game again and load your saved game. It should restore all your progress.
Next Steps
Next I will hopefully get to the bottom of the database corruption issue. Although, I have a feeling it may have been caused by the same bug, since it went away, and came back around the same time as this bug.
I will also come up with a way in which to make it easier to update the game without having to go through all the steps listed above...
