I just uploaded version 2.4 to the "testing" branch.
Here's what I've fixed:
- No more 6 star limit per sector. Sectors may have up to 9 stars again.
- Lava was appearing at the wrong height when visiting a planet for the first time. What happened is if you submerged yourself in it, you would not see the "underwater" effect. Now it should line up properly.
- The circular star overlays that appear with the Star Chart Upgrade were not appearing correctly. Sometimes a previously visited star would still show a red circle. Now it should show a blue circle for stars that have been scanned.
- Grass would appear on some foggy planets on the second visit, when it was not there on the first visit. This should be working properly now. Grass should only appear on foggy planets if there are living things, like fungus and aliens.
- Grass on foggy planets did not make the correct footstep sounds, this should work properly now.
- I believe the same issue that caused the problem with dropping a beacon on a fuel planet may have been responsible for the return of the "Star Missing from Database" error. So far I have not been able to reproduce this problem.
Updates:
- The game now uses new file names for saved games, settings and control configuration files. These should no longer cause conflicts with files from the old version.
- However, I noticed a new bug after uploading to Steam. In order to alter your settings and keyboard configuration, you will first need to start a new game. Once a new game has been started, then you will have access to the configuration files.
- I will fix this issue on the next update. I understand why it's happening, and it should be easy to fix.
- To transfer an old game to the new version, you will still have to move your save game folder manually, if you have not done so already.
- I will see if I can automate this process in the next version ... no promises yet.
- There is a new file in the game folder called "Install.txt" which contains the path to where the configuration files and saved game files will be stored. By editing this file, you may customize the location of your saved games.
Thanks again everyone.
