We're back from limbo with the beta preview of the 1.0 release. We made some great improvements which we believe you will appreciate. The next table will be announced after the full release, so we're confident to get this back on track.

Preview is now available under Betas/experimental.
Here you can find the next version we're currently working on. This includes new features which are not yet thoroughly tested and therefore can contain bugs.
If you don't want to loose your previous settings or local scores it's best to make a backup of the %LOCALAPPDATA%\PinballWicked folder before testing. Easiest way is to rename the folder to e.g. PinballWicked.bak
The experimental preview is accessible under Library/Pinball Wicked/[RMB] Properties/Betas in the steam client.

Known issues in the preview:

switching back from the first experimental to the live version will crash on launch due to incompatible savegame format in %LOCALAPPDATA%\PinballWicked\Saved\SaveGames unless the beta BlackFlaggers.sav file is deleted before starting the game. Sorry for this! The current version has this issue fixed.

Scalability
For those of you who run Pinball Wicked with Low or Medium Rendering setting this update is huge. We fixed many visual errors, brought the lighting more in line with the higher settings and further optimized the performance. E.g. on an Intel i5-8400 / UHD Graphics 630 the game now runs in Full HD with around 45 fps.

The Black Flaggers table is now complete with all missions in play. The scores and rewards are improved and newly balanced. Vital statistics are now displayed during pause and your notoriety rank, a measure of your success during missions, is now visible on game end.
Grand Finale: The Treasure Fleet
Gather your crew, track down the fleet, triumph over the defending forces and plunder more gold than you can carry. This mission can be started after completing 5 Adventures or 8 Pirate Battles the first time, after this all Black Flaggers letters have to be lit to start The Treasure Fleet again.

While we're nearing the completion of Update 6, we got another load of improvements that can't wait. Highlights are enhanced physics accuracy and revised flipper dynamics, better nudge and tilt handling, and many, many smaller fixes.
Update 5.3 - The Physics Nudge - Patch Notes

massive improvements to physics accuracy and flipper dynamics -> grippier & bouncier
balancing: Bang Back / Death Save protection: nudging if a ball is in a lower outlane will regularly result in an instant warning and death saves are a bit more difficult to pull off
balancing: digital left/right nudges are a bit softer now. You can no longer nudge if the table is in TILT! state.
balancing: Extra Balls per game are now limited to 10 in the 5 Ball game. The 3 Ball game is unchanged at max 12 Extra Balls per game.
balancing: Extra Ball Lit now vanishes on ball end
fix: added debounce to the TILT! warning sensor which fixes a possible instant TILT! on a single hard nudge
fixed: ball does not come to rest on an activated flipper
fixed: the ball could get stuck on the beginning of the crow wire ramp
fixed: flickering lamp post lights on experimental Low Rendering
fixed: The Pirate Battle would not always start properly if the third ball is locked instantly after another mission ends
fixed: the game end stats displayed the current Pirate Battles count (same as lit letters) instead of the total count

added informative message box instead of the default Low Level Fatal Error for the incompatible AMD legacy driver 15.7.1 (suggesting the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.2.1 for Non GCN Products). The legacy driver 15.7.1 will work in the 64bit executable which will be added in a later update.

We have another small update for you with some essential fixes for the Local Hot Seat mode. Also included are the nifty button-bound Action Cams.
Action Cams
This experimental feature can now be enabled in Options>Cams. Action Cams are focus cameras that are active as long as a button is pressed. Now a Barrel Bumpers Close Up is only a button press away!
They are bound by default to WASD-Keys or X, Y, B, Down on gamepads.

We also included a tilt meter, which will help you to get the swing of it. The tilt meter can be configured in the Operator settings.
Performance
Most materials and textures are now fully optimized, especially for the Medium and High Rendering levels. The Auto Detect Quality feature got an upgrade and should now be able to find the best 3D resolution scale and quality settings for your rig. The Medium Rendering setting now uses forward rendering for maximum performance.

Performance Update - new Render Quality setting
Up to and including Update 3 we optimized the game to reach >60 fps in hd / 1920x1080 on mid range graphics cards with the highest possible render quality and fully dynamic lighting, thus the recommended hardware requirements.
In Update 4 we optimized a lot further, targeting a far wider range of GPUs and higher resolutions. The new Render Quality setting offers new high performance graphics feature presets. Changing this setting will take effect the next time you start the game.
Thanks to the Unreal Engine 4's new volumetric light maps even the moving objects keep looking awesome with precomputed lighting. So if you're out for more fps or a higher resolution you should definitely try the new settings!
Render Quality levels

Low (Experimental) is suitable for many integrated GPUs and low end graphics cards, many graphics features are turned off, uses forward rendering and precomputed lighting. This quality level is a work in progress and will change over time.
Medium uses mainly precomputed lighting and is suitable for low range graphics cards and mid range integrated GPUs.
High mixes precomputed with real time lighting, graphics features are optimized for performance.
Epic uses fully dynamic real time lighting for all lights and high end graphics features for the best possible render quality. This matches the only available render quality of Update 3.
On a GTX 970 / i5 2500K / 1920x1080 changing render quality, leaving the other graphics quality settings on epic, using cam 4:
Low ~260 fps (limited by cpu), Medium ~160 fps, High ~115-135 fps, Epic ~ 65-80 fps
And for a quick boost on epic settings we added the option to configure Distance Field AO and Screen Space Reflections separately - disabling these nets around 10-25% more fps in epic render quality.
Cabinet users rejoice: Portrait orientation now supported in "Fullscreen" too!
In addition to the screen mode "Windowed Fullscreen", which has worked in portrait orientation since release, you can now also choose full screen portrait resolutions.
Enabling portrait mode (vertical screen)

Set the display orientation to "Portrait" in the windows display settings: RMB on empty desktop -> Display settings -> Orientation: Portrait
Start the game (optionally: choose a resolution and/or screen mode in Options/Graphics)
Select camera 6 -> Enjoy ːsteamhappyː

new: The Booty Bonanza (lit via collected loot)
new: controller/gamepad button customization
new: Pause Menu|Call Operator: detect stuck balls and bring them back into play. Enhanced ball stuck/stalled detection.
new: high score initials can now be selected using the left/right buttons, too. Entering the last initial switches the selection to [END].
Pirate Battle Multiball now comes with a much shorter intro and new music
balancing: the number of balls in play are now capped if multiple modes are started at the same time
balancing: missions dependent on multiple balls now end when there is only one ball left, on multiball end
fixed: in rare cases the dmd fails to remove graphics/animations
fix: adventure victories are now counted correctly for the game end stats
fix: successful adventures now properly light 1x SuperJackpot
