Developer posts and news about this game.
I haven't abandoned development. I'm working on the game every day, trying to nail the right atmosphere. I absolutely love our lore, but right now I've hit a wall. Here's an example of an early mission meant to immerse you in the world: the protagonist survives by defending again
Hi. I have been quiet for a while because I was working on several big things at once. A cell on the map is no longer just a number — you can step inside it and see a place where people live. The infection inside became ground you can see and take back with your own hands. That i
Hi. Latticefall has always carried one idea underneath it: when everything is collapsing, there isn't enough attention to go around. Until now that was just a mood in the background. Now it's the ground under one of the biggest changes I've made. In 0.25.0 I reworked how people i
Hey. Until now, a run in Latticefall was an endless sandbox — survive until you don't. What always bothered me was that it had no meaningful end and, more importantly, no meaningful beginning. That changes now. In 0.24.0 a run becomes a chain of missions. It has concrete goals, a
Hey. The fence around the colony used to be just a colored line on the map. To figure out what it was made of, you had to look at numbers or icons. It worked, but it never gave you the feeling of standing behind a real wall. So I redrew it. The perimeter is a wall now. It has thi
Hey. In earlier versions, deputies were just rows in a list: a role and a name. I knew that wasn't enough to make you feel you were running people rather than job titles. In a collapse, attention is scarce, and only the ones you notice get a name. But to notice someone, you first
Hi. For a long time, story quests in Latticefall were text and nothing else. You read about the ruins, about the things that live in them, about the choice in front of you — but all you ever saw were letters on a screen. I wanted those stories to come alive a little more. That wo
Hi. The life events of colonists used to flicker through the shared log and get lost. You saw a name, but not the person. It bugged me. I made it so everyone who earns a name gets their own story. Now the colony remembers. 📜 Resident's personal journal Every named resident now h
Hi. Earlier in Latticefall residents gained names and characters. But in the ruins, where every day is a struggle, just knowing a name felt like too little. I wanted a truly outstanding person — a master of their craft — to be felt in the colony, not merely listed in a roster. He
Hi. The map in Latticefall used to be quiet. You built up your HQ while only ruins lay around — pretty, but silent. The game pushed you to defend the perimeter, never to head out. In 0.15.0 the world around the colony finally comes alive. Now there's somewhere to go and someone t
Hi. Until now, quest choices were abstract options that were always available. It worked, but it didn't quite land. The choice didn't depend on who actually lived behind your perimeter. In 0.14.0 I'm changing that. Now, to make a bold move in a quest, you need the right person. N
Hello. Remember how, last time, the names finally got faces? Now comes the next step: giving them character. For a long while I've wanted the colonists not to be mere numbers in a 'population' tally, but to feel like people with their own influence — however tiny — on the fate of
Hi. I'm writing this by the light of a desk lamp, with the usual night dark of this world outside the window. I want to tell you about a version that grew from a simple thought: how to convey that fragility of bonds in a colony where there isn't even enough attention to go around
Hi everyone! Development on SurvivalGrid is in full swing, and today I can't wait to share some massive changes to how the game reacts to your actions. Previously, some decisions felt a bit hollow, but now every step truly shapes the face of your colony and directly impacts gamep
Dev Diary: Turning the Fog of War into Art Hi! Today I want to talk about how a seemingly small detail can completely change the vibe of exploration. We've reimagined the fog of war from the ground up. Previously, it was just a boring translucent veil. Now, it captures the true a
