Hello, upon some careful consideration I have lowered the cost of all DLCs for Cambrian Dawn. This was simply a personal decision as I felt that they needed to be more easily obtainable.
In other news, Cambrian Dawn will be receiving an unlocks system! All you have to do in-game is complete a task listed in the Badges menu (accessed from the game's main menu), then you will be able to access new playable species.
The first 3 badges are unlocks for Nectocotis, Skania, Abyssal Skania, and Utaurora.
These creatures are currently not locked and can be readily accessed in-game, so be prepared to complete a task or two to regain the ability to use these creatures.
The unlocks system is COMPLETELY FREE and will be added to the base game.
Here are images of the unlockable species so far:

I've been working on giving existing animals unique abilities to make gameplay more interesting; for starters, in a future update Primicaris and Skania will soon be able to hide and move underground!
The fictional early Chordate, the flying angel, will receive AI companions that will follow you around and provide a boost to stamina regeneration.
but perhaps the biggest feature of the next update is the new chat system!
The game will soon allow for sending text messages to your friends in-game without the need for a third party software such as Discord or Guilded!
In other news, new creatures will be arriving as part of the next Trilobite-themed update.
Until next time, have fun and God bless!

Greetings!
Tonight comes a special Major Update: "The Great Survivors"
A brand new massive map is available to play on called the Great Divide. This huge map contains a huge population of haikouichthys among many other creatures.
All playable animals now have a few added challenges:
Hunger has been changed to decrease faster, and you start at 50% of your max hunger.
Another combat related change was blood and bleeding. Now it is best not to sprint while bleeding as it will speed up the bleeding process. In order to properly heal from bleed, you will need to have high hunger and energy to regain lost blood.
The next update will feature some new creatures... but that is for another day.
Until next time, and enjoy the new update!

Firstly, there are new AI versions of Nectocaris, Petalilium and Nectocotis. You can find them on the Great Map and the Small Map.
I also tweaked roam distances for free-swimming animals to make them travel farther in one movement for a more realistic and busy ecosystem.
Time for the namesake of the update... I have added a new key binding to perform special interactions.
The first to arrive in-game is the ability to uproot and consume Ottoia and Selkirkia!
Currently only Peytoia, Opabinia and Utaurora can do this. The action is done by pressing the F key and functions the same as eating with the E key.
I also tweaked the water shading for a more natural underwater gloom.
until next time, and God bless.

I have added a brand new species to the game! Molaria!

This whip-tailed critter can sting opponents if they aren't careful, furthermore, Burgessia and Isoxys have received improvements.
Burgessia now has more armor, as well as return damage.
Isoxys got an overall buff to its HP and gains a healing boost when near other Isoxys
(the species of isoxys does not matter, although that is more of an oversight than a feature)
Fixed a few bugs thanks to one of my testers. Opabinia and Utaurora shouldn't be able to spam the attack button anymore, and Holding the info key while you respawn will no longer bug out the UI.
Until next time! later!

Hello everyone! In honor of Jurassic June (a personal celebration of mine) The game is going to receive a lot of new creatures this summer!
This update doesn't come with that however, instead it touches on various bug fixes and game mechanics improvements.
1. Algae foods (Green and Red Algae and Algae Shrubs) now deplete when eaten, meaning you'll need to travel around to find more!
2. Various bugs have been fixed, such as an issue with the Early Xenusian being able to move while rolled into a ball... it was funny but it had to go lol.
3. Various improvements to inherited traits and animal stats, as well as backend support for a new DLC ːsteamhappyː
4. Haikouichthys now regain stamina when in the presence of other player-controlled Haikouichthys.
(Expect more social-oriented buffs to come in the future!)
5. Marella now is a filter feeder! To feed as Marella, you have to be moving around and holding the Right Mouse Button down. Marella can no longer obtain food from any other method!
Until next time, and God Bless! :D

In total 18 new species will be added to the game for free.

This DLC will also be the largest the game has ever received!
As for an ETA, production on the update and expansion pack will begin sometime next month!
Until next time, and have a wonderful day!
Removed "Extinction" sound when dying. Removed some redundant code.
Updated Font Size for the Species Selection screen. Updated UI text and button colors for a bolder look. Increased Opabinia Speed.

Ahh April, a wonderful month. The oceans of Cambrian Dawn flourish with the commotion of new life!
Here, we can find the newly discovered Utaurora!

Utaurora is a recently discovered (and honestly silly looking) animal that was dug up in 2022.
It is a Opabiniid, and it used a long trunk, tipped with a claw-like appendage to bring food to its mouth!
Speaking of Opabiniidae:
The Opabinia makes its grand entrance into Cambrian Dawn!

Simply Breathtaking.
Lastly, we have yet another obscure addition to the group of animals related to Nectocaris...

Behold! Nectocotis! Wait? What? Isn't that the same thing? Nope!
Nectocotis sounds almost exactly like Nectocaris, be careful not to confuse the two animals.
I've also added a new Living Encyclopedia entry for Molluscs like Nectocaris and Nectocotis addressing the debate on if they are actually Molluscs or just Worms.
Enjoy the Update, and God Bless!
