Reading the verse while playing.
Thanks to all your suggestions, it is now possible to simply stop typing to think about the current verse. Simply stop typing and, after 5 seconds, the timer will immediately stop and be set back 5 seconds; text at the bottom of the screen will indicate this. Read the verse; thin

Idle text at level start.

Now, the WPM is calculated every 5 characters (every word) and upon last character / level completion. Previously, WPM was calculated continuously.
Addressing the problems with the Leaderboards
In a future update, I will introduce logic to reset leaderboards that are obviously wrong:

Fixed bug (not showing all completed verses)
Testament-selection and book-selection menus stopped showing updated numbers for the verses that the player had completed; this started after one of the updates. All your data will be corrected with this update and everything will be synchronized. You will not lose any progress.

Multiple updates

The progress menu shows the entire Bible at a glance.
Options Menu:

Change the playlist!
Volume slider controls Menu playlist volume, button sounds and Error sound (when playing)
Pause Menu:

Pausing does not damage your WPM (other than the time it takes to press escape).
The volume slider controls only the playtime Playlist (not the menu playlist).
Turn off the Error sound.
Turn off the Low Light Mode to see the mountains!

Word is a unique game.

Short: Jump in and play one round in a few minutes.
Intermediate: You can play a few rounds while the coffee brews (if you still use a coffee pot OO ) or peruse the menus to get a feel for the scope of the Bible. The progress menu and play menu both show your progress. Inspect the play menus; each button shows your progress (slider) and there is a slider at the bottom of each menu with greater-context progress (completed / total) showing the total number of verses for the Bible, testament, book or chapter depending on the context.
Long: It takes 72 hours (continuous) to read the entire Bible; there are 31,103 verses. It will take time to type the entire Bible. Furthermore, each level should be replayed to improve the score. You could spend years typing the Bible, improving your scores (and typing skills) and learning more about the Bible.
So relax and type a verse or two - or drill down and complete a book and receive a star on the progress menu; Jude is a short book near the end of the new testament.
