Hello folks, the new update for Burning Skies is live!
Over the last weeks, I focused on improving core systems, stability, and progression for the demo. This update also lays important groundwork for the future of Burning Skies, including localization and cross-progression between the demo and the final game!
Coins and Unlock System
Coins have been added as a new drop during gameplay, that can be used to unlock items
An unlock screen that now is used to unlock skins but we'll have more unlockable stuff on upcoming updates
2 new unlockable skins have been added to the game.
Localization System
A new localization system has been implemented, allowing the game to support multiple languages going forward.
As a first step, the game is now fully localized in Brazilian Portuguese.
Save System Rework
The save system has been completely reworked
This system is also designed to be shared with the full game, meaning your demo progress will carry over.
Menu Navigation Improvements
You can now use the B button or ESC to go back in menus, making navigation much smoother and more intuitive.
I also fixed an issue where pressing back multiple times could break the menu flow.
Your toughts
if you try the demo, I’d really like to hear your thoughts on Discord or the Steam forums. This is very important to shape the future of Burning Skies.
So far, the demo had over 350 players but only 4 steam reviews, if you enjoyed the demo consider leaving a small review, this helps the game in the steam discovery system.

In this update I've focused entirely on improving how enemies and waves behave, and I think I've made a lot of progress in this area.

Enemies now don’t have just one formation. Some of them can appear in up to 6 different formations, adding more variation and depth to the game.
Waves are now predetermined according to the stage progression. Thanks to the previous update, I can now better control which enemies spawn at each moment of the run, including cooldowns, formations, and more. This greatly improves the overall pacing.

There’s still a lot to improve, and I have many ideas I want to explore, but your feedback helps me decide what to prioritize next.
As a solo dev, it’s not always easy to choose what matters most, so I really appreciate any feedback on the Steam community forums or my Discord server.

Over the last two weeks, I've been hard at work focusing on improving both the visual clarity of the stages and some internal systems for Burning Skies.
Environment Visual Revamp
Several assets in the stage environment were replaced to improve the overall look and readability of the battlefield
Some players reported that the background was to busy, so i remade this aswell.

New Progress Bar
A progress bar has been added to the HUD to give players a better sense of progression during each section of a run.
Under-the-Hood Improvements
I also spent time improving some internal systems that control enemy behavior and stage flow, and more.
These changes will allow me to make more interesting enemies behavior, waves, and control overall how the game flows.

Just pushed a new update to the Burning Skies demo.
This one focuses on clarity, balance and fixing some edge cases that were causing problems during runs. A lot of these changes came from watching how people actually play and from your feedback — so thank you for that.
🧭 Clarity & UI Improvements
Weapon cards now include descriptions
Upgrade cards now show full descriptions + their effects
Player level displayed near the health bar
Weapon level shown directly on upgrade cards
The goal was to make build decisions clearer and faster during gameplay.
⚖️ Balance Changes
Secondary weapons buffed (they felt weaker than intended)
Bullet Spitter adjusted + tweaks to some primary weapons
Rebalanced weapon vs upgrade card drop chances
Trying to make more builds feel viable instead of pushing players into a single obvious path.
🛠 Fixes
Fixed issue where the game could break if no upgrades remained for a weapon
Fixed UI conflict when collecting orbs while warning screen triggered
