We’ve been in the lab, and the first results are here. Today’s update introduces MPL 2.0, a new Season Pass, and a significant shift in how we’re focusing our development to ensure the future stability of the game.
The Maximum Pro League is evolving. This update is the first step in a complete overhaul of our competitive online mode.
The Badge System: You now have full control over your roster’s identity. We’ve introduced an all-new badge system that allows you to equip player cards with specific stat boosts. Whether you’re building a ground-and-pound powerhouse or a deep-threat vertical offense, your build choices translate directly to the field.
Summer Evolution: This is just the beginning. We have more updates coming to MPL 2.0 this summer as we continue to refine the competitive experience.
While we’re focused on the mechanics, we’re also adding some new flair to the customization suite. Season 6 takes the game to the Space Dome, a new stadium orbiting Earth. You’ll find new futuristic uniform patterns and even a full astronaut suit in the rewards track.
It’s a change of pace for the off-season. Grab the gear, hit the orbit, and get back to the gridiron.
Sunsetting Support for Last-Gen Platforms
To make Maximum Football the game it needs to be on current hardware, we’ve made the tough call to sunset support for last-gen platforms to improve the on-field performance for the majority of our players.
What this means for Last-Gen players:
Access: You will still have full access to Exhibition, Gridiron, Team Customization, and the Store.
Online Play: Online matchmaking for Exhibition matches will now be limited to players on the same console to avoid technical conflicts with newer versions of the game.
Full Patch Notes
Beyond the big headlines, we’ve gone under the hood for a series of performance tune-ups and bug fixes. Here’s the full list of changes in this patch.
MPL 2.0
We’ve rebuilt the Maximum Pro League from the turf up. This is a fresh start for everyone.
Clean Slate: We’ve removed all players from the old MPL system. Every user starts the new season with a base team of 13 players and 2 badges. Players who financially invested in their MPL 1.0 will receive more packs, connected to your investment level in MPL 1.0.
Reworked Rarity: We’ve renamed rarity levels to better reflect the gridiron: Rookie, Starter, Veteran, All-Pro, and Generational.
The Badge System: Badges are now live. These are collectible cards that boost specific player stats. Legendary badges even feature unique on-field VFX.
Streamlined Economy: We’ve simplified the card inventory. You can now sell players and badges directly for MaxCoins based on their rarity.
Matchmaking & Rewards: We’ve improved search ranges and added a queue indicator that stays visible on all screens. Plus, every match in MPL or Exhibition now rewards 2000 MaxCoins, win or lose.
In-Match & Gameplay
Pre-Snap Intel: You can now see equipped badges on the field before the ball is snapped.
Depth Chart: To keep the game flow tight, we’ve removed the ability to swap players mid-match via the Depth Chart.
Injury Removal: We’ve removed injuries from MPL and Exhibition to keep your best players on the field.
Store & Currency
New Packs: We’ve replaced the old pack system with Standard Packs and rotating Featured Packs (Badge, Offense, or Defense weighted).
MaxStacks Conversion: If you’re short on MaxCoins for a purchase, the game will now prompt you to convert your MaxStacks instantly to finish the deal.
Menu & Navigation Refinement
We’ve streamlined the UI to get you into the game faster.
Direct Access: MPL matchmaking, Team Management, and Rank progress are now accessible directly from the Main Menu.
Mode Consolidation: We’ve combined Exhibition modes (vs. Friend, vs. Bot, Local) into a single button.
Gridiron Focus: Customization is now housed within Gridiron. Custom teams will be used exclusively in this mode.
Challenges: We’ve reworked weekly and seasonal challenges to focus on MPL play.
Last-Gen Platform Transition (PS4 & XB1)
As we focus on current-gen performance, we have begun the transition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One:
Mode Removal: MPL, Card Packs, Seasons, and the Battle Pass have been removed.
Limited Matchmaking: Casual matchmaking is now restricted to same-console users only.
Core Access: Players on these platforms still have full access to Dynasty, Franchise, Exhibition, local play and the customization suite.

From day one, Maximum Football has been about one thing: giving you a blank canvas to Build Your Ultimate Football Universe. Today, we’re taking the biggest leap yet in that journey.
Welcome to MPL 2.0.
In the old world, you were at the mercy of the draw. If you wanted a specific playstyle, you had to pray to the RNG gods for the right card.
That era is over.
In MPL 2.0, we’re shifting the power from the pack to the player. Instead of just building a deck, you will invest in your legends.
The Canvas: New Player Cards, No Limits
Player cards are still the heartbeat of your squad, but they’ve evolved. Instead of pre-defined archetypes that box you in, every card is now a foundation to start building the player that fits your scheme. Whether you pull a Rookie or a Generational superstar, you decide who they become.
Higher rarities now unlock massive stat floors and more slots for our brand new badges.
Rookie (Common): Your base card with no badge slots.
Starter (Uncommon): One badge slot
Veteran (Rare): Two badge slots
All-Pro (Epic): Three badge slots and +10 stat bonus to some relevant stats.
Generational (Legendary): Your new chase cards. These cards have three badge slots and one fixed badge that grants position-specific bonuses and an extra VFX on-field.
Note: Since the new cards introduce brand new mechanics into the game, you will need to start your team from scratch in MPL 2.0. But don’t worry, players who invested in their MPL 1.0 roster will receive packs of new cards to jump-start their new build.
The Power: Introducing Badges
If cards are the canvas, Badges are the paint. These are the keys to unlocking a playstyle that is uniquely yours.
Found in packs, Badges allow you to attach elite skills directly to your players. The higher the rarity, the more explosive the transformation.
Uncommon: Grants +5 to one stat
Rare: Grants +5 to two stats
Epic: Grants +5 to three stats
Legendary: Grants a total of +30 skill points across four stats. These badges are position-specific.
Build Your "Unicorn"
The new MPL system isn't about finding the "best" card—it's about finding YOUR best combination.
Want a Human Cheetah? Stack three Speed badges on an All-Pro RB and watch him leave defenders in the dust.
Need a Brick Wall? Equip your Middle Linebacker with multiple Tackling and Strength badges to shut down the middle of the field entirely.
When you field these players, you’ll see the difference. Badges will appear next to players so that you can understand their strengths.
Out with the Old, In with the Impact
To make room for this strategic shift, we are retiring the Personality Trait system. While the original intent was to create decision-making in your roster composition, synergies weren't noticeable enough on the field. We’re replacing "subtle boosts" with absolute dominance.
We want you focused on one thing: executing your gameplan with players built specifically to win.
The Era of the Legend Begins May 5th
MPL 2.0 launches alongside Season 6 on May 5th. The lab opens soon, the badges are waiting, and the system will be officially yours to break.
The only question left is: What kind of legend will you forge first?

Hi, Maximum Football fans -
We’ve been tracking your reports since the Pre-Season 6 update, and the first set of fixes are here.
We just pushed a hotfix to resolve the issues with custom logos. Good news: your save files are safe. You don’t need to redownload anything; your logos should be right where you left them.
Here is what’s under the hood:
Logo Persistence: Fixed the bug that caused custom logos to default when switching game modes.
MPL Fix: Custom logos will now persist after quitting and returning to the game.
UI Correction: Fixed the Custom Logo Downloads menu starting on an invalid page, making it appear empty.
We're still working through the rest of your feedback for future patches. Thanks for sticking with us while got this one fixed.

Today’s update and pre-season launch is a foundational moment for Maximum Football as we prepare for a new era with our new development partner, Open Ocean Games.
Here’s what’s inside the latest update available on all platforms today!
Pre-Season 6: Training Camp

New Draft Class Flow
You now have more visibility into what players are navigating to the next level when you have your Dynasty and Franchise connected. Here’s how it works:
At the end of a season in Dynasty, you will receive a prompt asking if you’d like to export your class of graduating seniors.
If you select yes, you will be shown a follow-up screen that lets you know every player that will be available in that year’s draft class. Sort this by overall or filter by schools to see who from your team will take the jump.
After you connect your Franchise to your Dynasty in the Franchise set up, you will see your seniors in the Draft Class menu from Transactions.
This process makes understanding your draft classes much clearer, ensuring you can continue their stories into the pros.
Platform Optimizations
You will notice some major improvements with how the game runs across all platforms. We've made adjustments to the game’s lighting system to achieve this. While you won’t notice changes to the way the game looks visually, you will definitely see that it runs smoother on console and uses fewer resources on PC.
We’ve also removed most autoreplays and cut down on the splash screens. This is part of a larger effort to speed up play in Maximum Football and keep you on the field.
Bug Fixes
There are around 50 bugs that we squashed with this patch, many of which were identified by you! We continue to monitor our Player Hub for bug reports to make each patch even better.
Keep reading to check out the full list of changes available in this update.

Hi Maximum Football fans,
The end of 2025 gave you Franchise mode and a fresh season of content. Now, we’re working toward the future. Our goal is simple: a faster, tighter, more rewarding football experience.
In 2026, Maximum Football hits a new gear. We’ve partnered with Open Ocean Games to lead development. This is a team of experts in building online, persistent experiences.
The first update from this new partnership drops next month. This will be the first in a series of exciting releases we have planned for the rest of the year.
Narrowing the Focus
Building a deep simulation game with a small team is a beast. We’re proud of the foundation: Dynasty, Franchise, and the customization suite.
But it’s time to stop spreading thin and start digging deep. For the foreseeable future, we have two priorities:
On-Field Intensity: Improve the flow and feel of the game.
Online Play: Make the experience rewarding for everyone.
We’re also tackling the bugs and gameplay feedback you’ve been sending us.
The Hard Truths
We believe in being real with you. To make Maximum Football the game it needs to be, we’ve made some tough calls on what stays and what goes.
Physics & Interaction: We talked about "Backbreaker" physics in the past. That project was simply out of scope for our team. Instead, we’re perfecting the engine we have. The system is already physics-driven in that momentum, size, and angles matter. We’re focusing our energy there to make sure every hit feels earned.
Stabilizing the Game: Our priority is stability. We’re fixing the memory issues on consoles so players with massive customization libraries don't have to worry about crashes. Unfortunately, this means roster sharing has to ride the bench for the foreseeable future.
Refining the Rules: We’re a specialized team, and we’ve decided to be the best at one thing rather than "okay" at three. We're putting everything we have into the core game we have now. This means that other rulesets like Canadian Football won’t be added.
The March Update
Lock in. Our first update of 2026 drops March 24th. Here’s what’s changing:
Broadcast Overhaul: We’re killing the splash screens. You’re here to play football, not watch menus.
Performance Tune-up: We went under the hood to optimize performance across all platforms. It’s smoother, faster, and tighter.
The Bug Hunt: Alongside Open Ocean Games, we’re crushing the game-breaking bugs that got in your way.
Full patch notes drop on March 24th.
The changes don't end there. We have tons of updates and even more content coming this year.
A small patch is live with fixes and improvements across Franchise and stability. What’s included. Fixed Franchise coach contracts failing to update when replaced or rehired. Fixed draft offers allowing the same picks to appear multiple times. Fixed sporadic crashes reported acro

Maximum Football fans, Happy Holidays! Get ready to kick off the festive season with the launch of our brand new, Season 5: Holiday Blitz.
This holiday-themed season features a 50-tier progression pass offering both free and premium rewards. Players can unlock some of our most creative cosmetic items yet to truly deck the halls in style. These include fun items like reindeer antlers for helmets, red-nosed facemasks, and ugly Christmas sweater jersey patterns.
No matter how you choose to play Maximum Football this season, you can progress through the pass and earn new items, as every one of the 50 tiers grants both a free and a premium reward.
New Stadiums Arrive in Season 5
Season 5 introduces two distinct new stadiums. The first, Gothic Grounds, is instantly unlocked for Premium Pass players at Level 1. This stadium leans into a darker, Krampus-like holiday aesthetic, featuring a large, imposing Gothic castle backdrop and a surrounding creepy village.
The second stadium, Silverline Stadium, is available for free to all users upon completion of all 50 tiers of the pass. Silverline Stadium offers a classic winter wonderland experience, complete with festive lights, Christmas trees, and plenty of snow on the gridiron perfect for making snow angels (hint, hint).
Franchise Updates
In addition to the festive holiday content, this update brings significant improvements to Franchise mode, driven by early community feedback. These enhancements include a refreshed user interface for several menus, the ability to import your complete custom team roster without the previous 53-player limit, and the introduction of automatic substitutions for simulated Franchise games.
Winter Classic Showcase Winners Added!
The latest update for Maximum Football brings a wave of exciting new content and a celebration of the dedicated community! We are thrilled to announce the official introduction of our Winter Classic Showcase winners into the core Franchise mode: the Louisiana Chicken Pandas and the Northstar Ringers.
These two unique teams were designed and championed by members of our incredible player base, embodying the creativity, passion, and spirit that fuels the Maximum Football universe. By integrating the Louisiana Chicken Pandas and the Northstar Ringers directly into Franchise mode, we are celebrating the talent of every individual who contributes to the vibrant culture of our game.

Franchise Mode arrives today, and it opens up a whole new part of the Maximum Football universe. Dynasty has given players the chance to build their own college programs, recruit stars, and shape careers from the ground up. Now you get to carry those stories forward and create new ones in the pros.
Try your hand at managing a pro team by building your roster from free agency and the draft, running the front office and stadium amenities, and making the game-time decisions to cement your franchise into a league leader.
Franchise brings two full leagues into one game, giving you a complete football universe to play with. You can steer a team through the pros while keeping an eye on the next wave of talent coming through Dynasty. If you have been recruiting and developing players in Dynasty, their stories continue here. Your college stars can become draft prospects, and you get to follow their careers from their first offer all the way to the bright lights of the league.
If you want the full breakdown of how everything works, be sure to check out our deep dive. It covers scouting, schedules, coaches, drafting, player roles, and all the systems that tie this mode together.
How to Play Franchise Mode
You can jump into Franchise in a way that fits your playstyle. Here are the options available:
Franchise Premium Mode: If you want unlimited access without worrying about tickets, you can pick up Franchise Premium. It gives you full access to the mode whenever you want to play.
Legend Edition: The Legend Edition gives you unlimited access to both Dynasty and Franchise, along with a bundle of exclusive items. If you love building programs and creating multi year stories, this is the all in package.
Tickets: Tickets are your season keys. One ticket equals one full season, and any tickets you have earned up to this point can be used in both Dynasty and Franchise. If you have been saving them, they are ready to go.
New Weather Effects
This launch also gives us the chance to expand on another feature that players have been asking for. Weather arrived in 1.0 as a visual flourish, but it is now a real part of the on-field experience.
Rain and snow can create messy conditions that increase the chance of fumbles and change how you approach each drive. Your opponent will feel it too, since coaches now adapt their play calling based on what is happening in the sky.
Updated Injury System
Injuries have also taken a big step forward. In the past, only ball carriers could get hurt, which meant the injury bug hit the same handful of positions over and over. With this update, every position on the field is part of the system. Linemen can go down in the trenches, defenders can take a bad hit, and the wear and tear of a long season finally feels real.
Multi-week injuries now function the way they should, so the depth of your roster matters in a meaningful way. Building a complete team is more important than ever, and your decisions on draft day and in free agency will carry real weight throughout the season.
Winter Classic Showcase Winners
As you explore the mode, keep an eye out for some familiar community creativity. The winners of our Winter Classic Showcase will appear in-game on December 16. These teams were created by players and voted on by the community, and they fit perfectly into the spirit of building your own world.
Season 5 is on the way!
Season 5 also arrives on December 16, bringing new gear, challenges, rewards, and a fresh round of content to chase. It is a big month for Maximum Football, and we are excited for you to experience everything we have lined up.
Franchise Mode is a big step for this game, and it would not exist without your feedback, your patience, and your willingness to jump in with us. We are proud of where the game is today and even more excited about where it is headed. Thanks for being part of it, and have fun shaping your football universe.

Every coach on your staff comes with a variety of attributes and upgradable skills. These attributes include:
Scouting Network
Scouting Accuracy
Scouting Depth
Stability
Player Development
Reputation
Consistency of Success
Personality and Charisma
Scheme and Strategy
Coaches can also upgrade their development skills. These upgrades reduce the XP cost for improving specific player attributes.
Will we be able to control more than one team and spectate every game?
You will not be able to control every single team in your league, but you can simulate and spectate every matchup in Franchise Mode. This makes it easy to follow the full season and keep an eye on your rivals.
How does schedule generation work for the first year?
At the start of your Franchise, you will begin in the pre-season of season one. Your schedule will be randomly generated at the start of each season following a set mix of division, conference, and intraconference opponents, depending on the size of the league you select.
Do the sizes of draft classes scale depending on the size of the league?
Yes! The smaller your league size, the smaller the draft classes will be. This ensures that there is the right balance of new talent coming into your league each year.
Will Franchise have the option for a broadcast angle?
Spectating and Coach Mode in Maximum Football give you several camera angles to choose from. That includes a press box angle that delivers that classic TV look. This angle is not a playable one at the moment, but it is great for spectating.
Is it possible to have problematic players on your team that impact team performance?
Yes. Franchise has a morale system that influences how players feel about your team. Their opinions will shift based on salary, playing time, team performance, personal stats, location, and more.
Happiness affects the decisions they make throughout their career, including contract talks, trade requests, and how they interact with the media through Max Social posts.
Will Dynasty receive any updates to bring it in line with Franchise Mode?
Right now, we are focused on finishing and polishing Franchise. As always, future updates to both modes will be driven by player feedback.
How do playoff berths work in the 8 and 12-team leagues?
In an 8-team league, everything takes place in a single conference with two divisions. Each division has four teams. The division winners meet in the championship game.
In a 12-team league, you have one conference with three divisions of four teams each. The playoffs include the three division winners plus one wild card team. You will be able to see each playoff structure inside the league setup menu.
Will there be a ticket system like Dynasty mode?
Yes. Franchise uses the same ticket approach as Dynasty. One ticket gives you access to one full season. Once you reach the offseason, you will use another ticket to continue.
Will there be a toggle for the salary cap?
Currently, the game has a fixed salary cap. We will not have the option to toggle this on and off at launch, but if that’s something the community would like to see, let us know!
Have multi-week injuries been fixed to properly apply in Franchise Mode?
Yes. Injuries have been fixed and expanded for Franchise. Players can suffer multi- week injuries and can be moved on or off IR while you manage your roster.
We also added non-ball carrier injuries, which means defenders and non-skilled position players can now be injured during play.
Will you be able to edit generated draft classes?
No. Draft classes in Franchise work in two ways. The CPU can auto-generate a class for leagues that are not connected to a Dynasty. Or you can link your Franchise to an existing Dynasty. You cannot edit the auto-generated classes, but you can edit seniors inside your Dynasty, and those changes carry into their draft class.
Thanks again for all the great questions. Franchise Mmode has been a long time coming, and we cannot wait for you to take your team through its first season on December 9. If you have more questions, keep them coming.

Maximum Football’s Franchise mode delivers a fully customizable pro football experience that puts the power directly in your hands. Rulesets, roster moves, every detail of your league is yours to control.
But let’s not bury the lede. We know what you came here for: the release date.
Franchise mode arrives December 9, 2025.
That’s when you’ll officially be able to expand your football universe into the professional ranks. Now, let’s break down everything you can expect when you take control of your franchise.
This is the defining feature for Maximum Football. You can link a Dynasty team to Franchise mode, uniting the college and professional worlds seamlessly.
During setup, choose one of your existing Dynasties to connect. Every graduating senior from that Dynasty automatically becomes a draft-eligible prospect in your Franchise. Even if you play your Dynasty years into the future, your Franchise will always reference the correct graduating class for the draft.
Note: Each Dynasty can only be connected to one Franchise.
Franchise League Setup
Franchise mode is all about freedom and customization. It starts with your League Setup, where you’ll find more options than any other franchise experience in football gaming.
Choose your league size:
32 teams: The classic pro setup.
8 teams: A compact league inspired by spring football.
12 teams: A nod to the 80s pro football.
16 or 24 teams: Fully fictional formats for players who want to get creative.
Once you’ve chosen your league size, you can customize conferences and divisions to create your perfect ecosystem.
You’ll also have full control over game and rule settings, including:
Overtime format
Kickoff type
Hashmark width
Number of feet required for a catch
Ball type (Line or No Line)
2-point conversion yard line
Down-by-contact rules
PAT distance
Scoring values for touchdowns and safeties
Two-minute warning behavior
Quarter length, play clock, and acceleration rates
Fair catch
After finalizing your setup, you can import your custom teams, organize your league, and hire your coaching staff to begin your journey.
Stadium Management
Franchise mode brings a new layer of depth to stadium management.
Each team begins with its own home stadium, which you’ll upgrade over time instead of replacing entirely. As your facilities improve, you’ll unlock new items and amenities to sell inside the venue, boosting your revenue and fan satisfaction.
You’ll also control tiered-ticket pricing, setting values for general seating, premium sections, and luxury suites. The more desirable the seat, the higher the price you can charge. Balancing pricing with attendance will be key to maximizing profits.
New Staff Roles
Franchise mode introduces several new front-office roles that directly impact your success both on and off the field:
Marketing Director – Secures sponsorships and promotional deals. Each sponsor offers unique contracts based on your performance and fit. A skilled marketing director unlocks the most profitable opportunities.
Team Doctor – Manages player health and recovery. The higher your doctor’s expertise, the more accurate your weekly injury reports and recovery timelines will be.
Accountant – Oversees budgets, upgrades, and the salary cap. A top-tier accountant helps you find cheaper facility upgrades and keeps your team financially healthy throughout the season.
Together, these roles bring authenticity and depth to the business side of running a team.
Coaching Staff
Coaching is expanding in Franchise mode. Each team will feature a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator, each with their own attributes, philosophies, and impact on gameplay.
Every week, your staff delivers:
Offensive and defensive scouting reports on your upcoming opponent.
Preparation bonuses that temporarily boost player attributes.
Weekly development summaries highlighting which players improved.
Building a staff with strong synergy and complementary schemes will help your team reach its potential faster.
Roster Management
In Franchise mode, there are three primary ways to strengthen your roster: Free Agency, Trading, and the Draft.
Free Agency
Every free agent in Maximum Football assigns themselves a desired contract value based on performance, age, and reputation. Your job is to find the balance between meeting a player’s expectations and protecting your cap space.
Players evaluate offers based on:
Total contract value
Length and guaranteed money
Team prestige and culture
Competing offers
Market demand
During the offseason, you’ll receive immediate feedback on offers. During the season, negotiations may extend week-to-week as players weigh their options.
Trading
The trade system introduces strategy and realism. You can trade players or draft picks, but the AI carefully evaluates each offer. Considerations include:
Player overall and age
Contract length and morale
Team depth at that position
Injury history
Whether teams share a division (in 16–32 team leagues)
Repeated failed offers can cause trade partners to lose patience, locking you out of negotiations temporarily. Teams remember how you treat them, so play the long game wisely.
Drafting
At the end of every offseason, you’ll conduct the Pro Draft.
If your Franchise is linked to a Dynasty, your draft class will consist of that year’s graduating seniors. If not, the game generates a class automatically. Any players who go undrafted will enter free agency as available prospects.
Build Your Legacy
Franchise mode is the culmination of everything you’ve built in Maximum Football. From customizing your league’s rules to drafting your own Dynasty graduates, it’s your chance to shape football your way.
When Franchise mode arrives on December 9, 2025, the entire football world will be yours to manage, mold, and master. Whether you’re chasing dynasties, rewriting records, or running the perfect organization, one thing is certain: the future of football is in your hands.

Franchise Deep Dive Incoming
But that’s not all — next week, we’ll be releasing a Franchise Mode Deep Dive that takes a closer look at how you’ll build and manage your very own pro football universe when the mode launches later this year.
Thank you for being part of the journey and helping shape Maximum Football into what it is today. Here’s to another great season ahead!

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year since Maximum Football first launched into Early Access. Since then, we’ve shipped a ton of updates—many of them shaped directly by your feedback. From the start, we’ve said this is a game we’re building with the community, and today we’re taking another step to make that connection even stronger.
We’re excited to introduce the new Maximum Football Player Hub — your one-stop spot for customer support, bug reports, and game feedback. Whether you need help with an account issue, want to flag a bug, or have an idea that could take the game to the next level, this is the place to share it.
Better feedback, faster fixes – Submitting through the hub ensures the dev team gets the details they need to reproduce and squash bugs more efficiently.
Closer connection to the devs – The hub brings your voice even closer to the people building the game.
Simple and centralized – No more guessing where to go. Everything you need — support, bug reporting, feedback — is all in one place.
This is all about making it easier for you to help shape the future of Maximum Football. We can’t wait to see what you share.

What’s up Maximum Football fans! New month, new dev blog!
September has been a big month for Maximum Football. From a new season to gameplay improvements on the field, the team has been hard at work building on the foundation we launched earlier this year. This blog is your behind-the-scenes look at what’s new, what’s coming soon, and how we’re continuing to push the game forward with your feedback in mind.
When it comes to setting up your own pro league, we want you to have the same kind of flexibility you’ve come to expect from Dynasty Mode. You’ll have a handful of different league sizes to choose from so you can shape the kind of experience you want:
32 teams: The classic setup, mirroring modern-day fall football.
8 teams: A smaller league, like the early-2000s XFL or today’s spring leagues.
12 teams: Inspired by the original USFL of the 1980s.
16 or 24 teams: Fully fictional setups for those who want something different.
And just like in Dynasty, you’ll be able to import your custom teams, re-organize divisions, and truly make the league your own.
Draft Classes
Franchise Mode in Maximum Football is designed to do something no other football game has done before: connect your college and pro experiences in a single ecosystem.
When you set up a new Franchise, you’ll have the option to link it directly to one of your Dynasty saves. If you do, every graduating senior from your Dynasty will automatically flow into the following year’s Franchise draft pool. That means the players you recruited, developed, and coached in college can continue their careers in the pros — and you get to follow their journey.
All season long, you’ll be able to scout your upcoming draft class, filter by key attributes, and start building out your draft board. When the offseason arrives, you’ll run a full amateur draft featuring your entire graduating class. Want to move up and grab that stud QB you just sent through college? Trade your picks. Want to stockpile future talent? Wheel and deal for more draft capital.
And just like the real thing, not everyone gets drafted. Any players left on the board after seven rounds will hit the league as undrafted free agents — ready for you to take a chance on or for another team to scoop up.
Trading
Trades are one of the most exciting, and sometimes frustrating, parts of running a pro team. They’re not just about swapping talent; they’re about strategy, timing, and relationships. We wanted our system in Franchise Mode to reflect that.
In Maximum Football, trades aren’t just one-off menu swaps. We’ve built a dynamic trading system where both you and CPU-controlled teams can actively initiate deals. Every offer is weighed against a ton of factors: team needs, positional depth, injury history, age, salary, and even locker room fit.
But here’s where it gets interesting: negotiations matter. If you repeatedly low-ball another team or drag out talks, they’ll walk away from the table and you’ll need to find a new partner. Over time, your reputation across the league will also come into play. Owners will remember if you’re fair to deal with… or if you’re constantly trying to fleece everyone.
And just like in real life, trades don’t happen every day. If you’re trying to wheel and deal nonstop, other owners will eventually shut you out. The result is a system that feels authentic, strategic, and connected to the bigger picture of building a franchise.
Option Plays
Option football is a big part of the sport, and we’re only just getting started. The addition of RPOs in our September update was the first step. The team is now diving into other staples of the option game — from triple options and wishbone looks to speed and read options.
We’re also capturing brand-new animations to make these plays feel fluid and authentic. Here’s a sneak peek at some of what’s in the works.
Scramble Animations
One area we knew needed attention right after launch was quarterback scrambles. Up to now, hitting the sprint button basically turned your QB into a running back, tucking the ball and taking off the moment they left the pocket. And let’s be real, that’s not how scrambling works.
We’ve been building out new, QB-specific animations for those moments when you’re creating with your legs. The focus is on keeping your quarterback in a throwing posture outside the pocket, so if a receiver flashes open, you’re ready to pull the trigger. Of course, once you cross the line of scrimmage, they’ll still do the smart thing and tuck it high and tight.
That’s a wrap for this month’s update. As always, we appreciate you being part of this journey with us. Your feedback and support continue to shape what Maximum Football is becoming. Keep sharing your thoughts, keep building those custom teams, and keep an eye out for more updates as we roll deeper into the season.
Mailbag
Any update on logo search bar and team share?
We know that logo search and team share are highly requested features from the community. Right now, our focus is fully on delivering Franchise mode before the end of the year, but this feature is still on our roadmap to be added to the game later.
Since the last updated offensive playbooks, are there any plans to add more defensive playbooks?
Yes! Both sides of the ball are important, and making sure we give players more options for defensive schemes to run is something we are looking forward to adding after we launch Franchise mode.
Will players have to recreate their teams for Franchise or will you be able to use existing teams?
We spoke about this in our last blog, but yes! Existing teams will be able to be imported into Franchise mode to serve as professional teams. Roster sizes and makeups of pro teams in Maximum Football are a bit different.
What’s the status of gang tackles?
With our focus fully on finishing Franchise Mode right now, work on gang tackling has taken a back seat. But this is something we are still planning to add in the future.
Are create-a-play and create-a-playbook on the roadmap?
Yes these are still a part of our long-term roadmap. We don’t have an ETA on when they will be added, but it is something the team looks forward to adding in the future.

What’s up, Maximum Football fans!
Season 4 of Maximum Football is now live, bringing a mix of new features, gameplay improvements, and expanded customization. This update introduces the Hard Hitting 80s Season Pass, smarter CPU playcalling with the first iteration of PlaySense, 10 new offensive playbooks, and the debut of option plays with run-pass options. You will also find new number customization tools and two additional stadiums to take the field in.
Here is a full breakdown of what’s included in Season 4.
Season 4: Hard Hitting 80s
When you think of football at its grittiest, where toughness and swagger collided, you think of the 1980s. Neck rolls. Giant shoulder pads. Full-cage facemasks. It was an era defined by smashmouth football and larger-than-life personalities.
Season 4: Hard Hitting 80s takes you back to that time—when devastating hits happened on the field and unforgettable dance videos happened off it.
This season brings a ton of period-inspired cosmetics across the 50-tier Season Pass, plus two brand-new stadiums:
Hillside Park – An iconic horseshoe design with an open grass field behind one endzone.
Citadel Park – A unique mixed-use venue, complete with a baseball diamond in one endzone.
Relive the era of smashmouth football today By playing Season 4: Hard Hitting 80s!
PlaySense
At its core, football is a game of adjustments, and now the CPU is learning to adapt just like you. Introducing PlaySense, Maximum Football’s new and improved playcalling system. With PlaySense, AI coaches make smarter, more situational decisions and react to the flow of the game instead of relying on static patterns.
This is just the first step for PlaySense. We will continue refining and expanding the system in future updates to make CPU playcalling even more dynamic over time.
New Playbooks
Speaking of playcalling, we heard your feedback. You wanted more variety, and this update delivers. Season 4 adds 10 new offensive playbooks, each packed with fresh formations and expanded play options.
You will see more weakside runs out of shotgun, new pulling schemes in the run game, and more advanced route combinations in trips formations. These additions give you greater flexibility to attack defenses in different ways and keep your playcalling unpredictable.
RPOs
Option plays are here. Season 4 introduces Run-Pass Options (RPOs) as the first step in bringing option football to Maximum Football. These plays give you a new way to attack defenses and keep them guessing. Read your keys, make quick decisions, and choose whether to hand it off, keep it yourself, or hit your receiver for a big gain.
This is just the beginning. Triple options, speed options, the wishbone, and more will arrive in future updates. Stay tuned.
Uniform Number “Zone” Customization
Customization just got deeper with the new number zone system. You can now assign different color options to numbers on helmets, jerseys, and pants, giving you even more control to design unique and iconic looks for your team.
Full Patch Notes
Gameplay improvements:
Introducing the new playcalling system “PlaySense”. This system’s goal is a smarter, more reactive and natural behavior for both AI coach plays as well as coach recommendations.
Added 10 new playbooks
We have tweaked a number of gameplay settings for an intended better core gameplay feel. This means some of the baseline values of sliders have changed, you will see different behavior as before. We highly recommend resetting sliders to default and playing around with the new settings.
You can now set up presets for sliders, for easier access to settings for different quarter lengths or a different gameplay feel.
Catching has been improved to fix frequent dropped or missed passes especially for short, down the middle passes.
False start penalty has been added.
AI defenders (especially secondary in zone defense) now make decisions based on their visual information, using a vision cone to assess situations.
A number of new catch, tackle and tackle miss animations have been added, with specific intentions of better carry of momentum during tackles for ball carriers.
Run-pass option plays have been added as the first round of option play additions. More to come in upcoming updates.
Changed AI behavior for fumbles to make the behavior more natural.
Fair catch calls are now disabled for on-side kicks.
Customization improvements:
Added new hairstyles
Uniform numbers can now be customized based on “zones” - helmet, jersey and pants can have different color setup for them.
Bugfixes:
Various fixes for AI after a catch to ensure proper angle selection
Fixed an issue where MPL uniforms could become invisible in certain menus when a vintage uniform is selected

What’s up, Maximum Football fans! It’s the most wonderful time of the year — the bands are playing, the turf is flying, and football season is officially here.
To go along with the kickoff of the new football season, we’ve got a brand-new developer blog that dives into what the team has been working on and what’s in store for the future.
The road to 1.0 was a big milestone, and now our focus is on making sure future updates continue to build on Maximum Football’s foundation. To give ourselves the proper time to polish, and deliver a strong update, we are moving the next major update to September.
In the meantime, we may still release hotfixes or balance changes as needed. The next major update will arrive on September 16th, alongside the launch of Season 4. We’re excited about what’s coming and look forward to sharing more as we get closer.
One added benefit — this also means you’ll have an extra week to make progress on Season Pass 3 before the new Season begins!
What We Are Working On
Updated Playcalling
We first mentioned our updated playcalling system back in July’s developer update. While we decided to push it out of that release to give it some extra polish, we also took the opportunity to add a few new features, including smarter 4th down logic, improved 2-minute offense, and better no-huddle behavior.
This will be the first iteration of the new system, and we’ll continue to refine and expand upon it in future updates.
Gameplay Rebalancing
We are making some adjustments to the overall balance of Maximum Football with a few goals in mind.
Move the game closer to a more realistic on-field product in terms of game speed, ball speed, play outcomes, and more.
Continue to limit the number of exploitable plays that players can leverage.
These balance changes will roll out in our next update, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on them.
Vision-cone Based AI
If a player can’t see it, they shouldn’t be able to make a play on it, at least that’s our philosophy with this particular gameplay update. With this update, players on the field won’t make a play on the ball unless they are able to see it. So, if a defender is trailing a receiver in coverage, they will need to make a play on the receiver in order to stop a reception, rather than making a frustrating over-the-shoulder interception.
Option Plays
We know this is one you’ve been asking about for a while — and we’re finally ready to start bringing option plays into the game!
Our long-term goal is to represent all the option concepts you’d expect: RPOs, triple options, read options, speed options, and more. To get there, we’ll be rolling them out in phases. Here’s why:
It gives us time to make sure each play type is balanced and that defenses respond the way they should.
It lets us capture and implement the right animations through motion capture.
It allows us to properly introduce several new mechanics, including manual handoffs, pitch/laterals, and predetermined pre-snap motions.
This phased approach means option plays will feel authentic and fair as they come online — and it sets us up to expand them the right way moving forward.
False Start Penalties
In our last patch, we introduced offsides penalties and the fake snap mechanic. Now, the team is working on the flipside, false starts! We have more animations to capture for different false start situations.
Mailbag
What player ratings impact the success of fake snaps?
Fake snaps are all about discipline. A defender with a lower Discipline rating is more likely to bite and jump offsides when you use a fake snap.
On the flip side, when false starts are introduced in a future update, offensive players’ Discipline ratings will determine how often they get flagged.
When are expanded playbooks and/or custom playbooks coming?
We’ve heard the call for deeper playbooks and more playcalling variety. Part of that will be addressed as option plays roll into the game, but we’re also building out a set of new playbooks to give you even more ways to play.
Think: a hard-nosed smashmouth playbook straight out of the 1980s, a classic wishbone playbook that pairs perfectly with Season 3’s Golden Era theme, and more still to come.
Will online customizable leagues be added after franchise mode?
From the very beginning, we’ve said that online franchise/dynasty is the natural next step once franchise mode is up and running. We know how important it is to give players the chance to build their ultimate football universe with friends.
While we don’t have a timeline to share yet, it’s a feature the team is eager to bring to Maximum Football in the future.
Will there be improvements to injuries in Dynasty mode?
Yes! We’re aware that multi-week injuries in Dynasty mode aren’t currently tracking correctly and sometimes disappear when advancing to the next week. The team is working on a fix for that bug.
Looking ahead, when Franchise mode releases, you’ll also see the introduction of training staffs. These will play a key role in managing injuries — helping to reduce the risk of them occurring, speeding up recovery times, and boosting your players’ overall strength and conditioning.
Will we be able to use teams that we create now in Franchise mode?
Yes! Pro teams will have slightly different set ups than the existing college teams, but you will be able to import and modify your current custom teams as pro teams.
Are there plans to add more penalties like pass interference, illegal contact, defensive/offensive holding, etc?
Yes! We are constantly adding new penalties to the game to reflect the product that you see on Saturdays and Sundays. We are doing this slowly and with intention as we gather the appropriate animations and ensure that the penalties are properly balanced.

Hi Maximum Football Fans,
We’ve just rolled out a new hotfix to address several issues introduced in last week’s title update. Thank you for your patience while we worked to get these fixes into your hands.
Here’s what’s included:
Fixed an issue where MPL playbooks could be incorrectly swapped between home and away teams in multiplayer matches.
Fixed an issue where the MPL depth chart did not function correctly in multiplayer matches.
Fixed a bug where defenders would stop pursuing after a catch instead of continuing to chase the receiver.
Fixed the “Play Type” filter in play selection not working correctly.
Fixed an issue where audibling from a Gun formation play to a QB Kneel could result in losing the ability to snap/audible.
Fixed CPU-controlled teams using incorrect playbooks.
Tweaked offensive line run blocking strength for improved balance.
Fixed an issue where “Show Blitz” and “Base Align” adjustments could cause offsides.
Fixed man coverage alignment issues after no-huddle offense.
Added further tweaks to the profanity filter whitelisting.
We’ll continue monitoring feedback and working to ensure a smooth gameplay experience. Thanks for playing Maximum Football!
