Milestone 1.1.0 Has Arrived!
Pilots,
Today we’re rolling out Milestone 1.1.0, a major update focused on refining how microdrones behave in flight. This update brings a broad set of improvements to core flight simulation, alongside a leaderboard reset, new content, and several usability fixes.
Physics 6.0
This release introduces a significant overhaul of the underlying flight model. The goal has been to tighten up realism and bring component behaviour closer to real-world micro drone performance.
We’ve improved how drag is calculated, refined propeller aerodynamics, and updated internal motor and battery statistics to better reflect their actual performance characteristics. These changes affect overall handling, responsiveness, and efficiency across all setups.
As always, we’re keen to hear how this feels once you’ve had time in the air with it.
Leaderboard Reset
With Physics 6.0 now active, we’ve performed a soft reset of all leaderboards.
Scores from Physics 5.0 have been archived and removed from the active rankings to ensure a fair baseline under the new physics model. Nothing is lost—your previous runs can still be viewed by enabling the archive filter in the leaderboard menu.
Time to rebuild the rankings under the new system.
New Drone Blueprint
A new configuration blueprint has been added featuring the Whoopdfarkndo frame.
It’s available as a ready-to-fly reference setup or as a starting point for your own builds and experimentation.
Component Updates
Several internal parameters for the BetaFPV LAVA battery series have been updated to better align with their real-world performance profiles.
Drone Editor Improvements
We’ve made a set of improvements to the drone editor to streamline setup and reduce friction when configuring builds:
Default flight mode can now be selected directly in the Overview section.
Camera angle adjustment has been moved to the Frame section, and is now available where the selected frame supports it.
Fixes & Quality of Life
Fixed an issue where a popup could remain visible after sharing content to the Steam Workshop.
Removed the popup prompting to save drone configuration changes when exiting a flight session.
Thanks for all the feedback and testing that continues to shape these updates.

Over the past few weeks, our team has been hard at work bringing Liftoff: FPV Drone Racing’s Physics 6.0to Liftoff: Micro Drones. After receiving a lot of positive feedback on the new Physics 6.0 system, we decided it was time to implement it in Liftoff: Micro Drones as well.
As of today Physics 6.0 is available for testing on the Experimental Branch.
This first iteration introduces several improvements aimed at making the flying experience more realistic, responsive, and closer to real-world performance.
What to expect in Physics 6.0
This update focuses on refining some core systems:
Improved drag system
Improved system for estimating drag coefficients
Improved propeller aerodynamics
Updated internal motor and battery statistics to better reflect their actual performance
Updated top speed display in the drone selection menu
Join us on the experimental branch!
Physics updates affect every aspect of flying, which is why the community is incredibly valuable during this phase. We encourage everyone who is interested to try the Experimental Branch and share their thoughts and feedback on our Physics 6.0 update!
Join us on Discordto discuss the update, report issues, and let us know your feedback!
How to Access the Experimental Branch
To try Physics 6.0, you can switch to the Experimental Branch in Steam:
Right-click “Liftoff: Micro Drones” in your Steam Library
Click “Properties”
Open the “Game Versions & Betas” tab

Happy New Year from the entire team! 🎉 We hope you’re kicking off 2026 with fully charged batteries and smooth lines.
We’ve got a lot of exciting things planned for this year, and we can’t wait to start rolling them out.
For our very first update of 2026, we tackled something many of you asked for: improved camera noise. We’ve improved both the analog and digital degradation to make those visuals feel even better and more immersive.
Looking a bit further ahead, you can also expect Physics 6.0 to land in Liftoff: Micro Drones later in 2026, now available for testing in Liftoff: FPV Drone Racing. Curious to try it out or want to know more? Hop into our Discord and join the discussion!
We also want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of you. Your creativity and passion, especially through the track editor continue to make Liftoff: Micro Drones an amazing place to be. To show our appreciation, we’ve put together a compilation featuring some awesome community-created tracks.
And we’re not stopping there! Our roadmap includes an expansion of this idea with a drawing board–style environment, making it even easier (and more fun) to bring your creative ideas to life.
Thanks for flying with us—2026 is just getting started!

Just two clicks (and a small scroll adventure) stand between us and eternal bragging rights. With the Liftoff franchise turning 10, this would be the perfect cherry on top of a decade of hard work.

A Heartfelt Thank You
Once again, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the entire Liftoff and FPV community for being part of this journey. FPV has always been a passion-driven niche, and while it may be a smaller market, it’s one with a big heart. Projects like Liftoff: Micro Drones only exist because of your collective support. Every single pilot makes a difference.
What we’re launching today is not just the result of our development efforts, it’s the achievement of an entire community. True teamwork.
A special thank you goes out to our testers, who’ve spent the past weeks relentlessly bug-hunting and stress-testing the new Track Builder. Your dedication and detailed feedback have been invaluable.
A Tribute
Lastly, we’d like to dedicate this launch to someone truly special, a legend in the Liftoff community whose creativity and passion have touched us all.
Shane Hirst, known to many as Mekon, gave us countless hours of joy through his incredible tracks. His talent, generosity, and love for the game inspired a generation of pilots and creators.
Though he’s no longer with us, his legacy lives on in every turn, dive, and gate we fly.
This one’s for you, buddy. Thank you, Shane. You will be missed.
