BACK TO FUN STUFF, MOSTLY
THE MINECART
Every now and then, a floor opens with a minecart sitting in the path.
- JUMP IN or I'LL WALK. Your call. (It defaults to JUMP IN, because obviously.)
- Darrell rides it through the floor at speed, flattening everything that pops up ahead of him. Full XP for every kill.
- Hands up on every hit, hair in the wind, sparks off the wheels, leaning into the corners.
- He's got opinions about it. Check your DMs.
- It's got its own music, too.
AFTER DARK
- Five brand new tracks on AFTER DARK. The old ones are retired.
NO MORE MUSIC WHIPLASH
- Every time the music changes (town, rage, bosses, the radio, the minecart), the old song now fades out while the new one fades in. No more going from one loud track straight into another loud track.
WHILE YOU WERE AFK
- Walk away for a while and leave the game running? When you come back, you'll get a little recap of what Darrell got up to while you were gone: kills, levels, floors, deaths, the works.
- It shows up after 30 minutes of no input, so leaving it running overnight counts.
- This isn't offline progress. It's not supposed to be. Darrell isn't quite the offline kind of game, but for those of you that want to play other games, eat food, or do normal human shit while Darrell punches stoned mushroom monsters, now you'll know what you missed when you come back to play.
FIXES & QUALITY OF LIFE
- Fixed cutscenes and other videos getting choppy after dragging the game window to a different monitor (especially between monitors with different refresh rates, like a 144Hz/360Hz screen and a 60Hz one).
- The title screen video loops smoother now.
- If the game opens but nothing shows up, it'll now tell you that instead of just leaving you staring at a blank window. It also saves a little report (startup-report.txt) to your AppData folder, and the message tells you exactly where, so I can use it to figure out what went wrong.
- Options and the AFK recap now sit centered on the actual game area instead of the whole window.
Not much else to say here, so I'll leave it there. Happy punching!
