Hi all,
Before discussing the immediate and longer-term development priorities, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has purchased Fantasy Classic: Dungeon Crawler (FC/DC) during pre-release. Having an income stream while I continue working on this project is an enormous help, and I genuinely appreciate the support.
I have divided the roadmap into three broad sections—Immediate, Near and Distant—to reflect both priority and the estimated workload involved before full release.
Immediate — next week or two
Replacing creature icons with animated sprites.
Adding on-screen combat feedback, including damage, healing and conditions inflicted.
A number of UI/UX improvements to the combat screen.
Ongoing creature balancing as testers report issues.
The usual bug stomping.
Near — next month or so
ART! A major part of the game’s development is working with talented fantasy artists to bring dungeons and adventures to life, much like the classic old-school modules. I have several exciting announcements planned as this work progresses. Stay tuned.
Replacing character combat icons with animated sprites. This is a major change and will begin with basic male and female models for all races. Over time, additional models, equipment and cosmetic options will be added. If you prefer the existing portrait system, do not worry, there will be an option to continue using it.
Adding a detailed isometric exploration mode for dungeons. This will take over much of the work currently handled by the overhead map. If you enjoy the existing overhead-map look and feel, as I do, it will remain available and can continue to be used much as it is now. The isometric view, however, will allow for much greater environmental detail and more direct character interaction with the dungeon.
Expanding individual character activities during isometric exploration, including scouting, trap interaction, campsite placement and similar actions.
More adventures. Two modules are currently in development.
Distant — next six months or so
ART! A broader revision and replacement of art assets as budget allows.
Morale and Morality systems.
Town maps and town exploration.
A dungeon/region authoring tool.
Multiplayer.
Please feel free to comment below. Your feedback is very welcome and genuinely valued.
