A new "Background quality" option is here. "High quality (AI background restoration)" uses an on-device AI model to restore the texture of the background, so the original text disappears naturally instead of being covered by a flat color box. It works especially well on movie and live-action subtitles.
You can pick it on first launch or anytime in Settings > Display, with side-by-side sample images showing exactly how each mode looks. The default stays "Standard" (light, works on any PC).
High quality needs a GPU (DirectML). It adds about 0.5 seconds when new text appears, and if your GPU cannot run it (or a game is using the GPU heavily), the app falls back to Standard automatically. Everything runs locally on your PC as always.
Also includes a small fix for pre-downloading the Thai offline translation model.
