Update Highlights
SPIT and FIRE

SPIT - we've started making tweaks so that spit is less overbearing to deal with. Globs of venom and acid now travel slower, so they are a bit easier to shoot down in midair and don't go quite as long distance.
Spitters can still snipe, but will have to work a little harder to hit enemies long range. A reduction in charged spit lifetime makes it harder to send bombs across the map. Cryo acid pools now fade faster and have a slightly smaller radius to help humans out in GTTC.
It's not all nerfs, though. Dilophosaurus has been given a damage buff in the form of a bugfix.
At first we were going to give the Dilo extra bite damage, but we discovered that damage over time from venom was failing to be applied properly. Previously if you kept biting then timers in the code would get reset and you'd never deal DoT.
This has been fixed, so DoT and instant hit bite damage now stack together, making Dilo quite a bit more dangerous in close quarters.
FIRE - the flamethrower has been a balancing problem for a long while. It is actually a pretty unreliable gun due to the way it was implemented back in the day, depending on particle collisions which quickly lose precision when you encounter lag.
The stats we see show that flamesaw users are honestly among those with the highest deaths. However, we've also seen that under ideal conditions the weapon can be a monster. We've attempted to address both sides of the equation this patch.
Flamethrower particles now have much higher velocity, letting them hit targets faster. Previously, it'd be difficult to ignite a raptor running away from you since it was faster than the fire. Higher velocity plus a slightly longer flame distance should largely resolve the inaccurary problem.
To offset its greater reliability, we reduced overpressure and proportional damage for the flamethrower. You no longer get a such a massive damage boost flaming Tyrants, as fire scaling has been reduced across the board. We'll be watching closely how these changes play out.
Several other tweaks have been made in response to player feedback, such as a reduced stamina cost for heavy melee and the fact that Tyrants are now worth up to 3 kills in TDM!

FULL CHANGELOG
Version 3.1.99
FLAMETHROWER CHANGES
flamethrower now has higher velocity
hits targets faster and more often, making it more reliable
old velocity for flamethrower could barely keep up with a running raptor
increased flame base damage by 10%
reduced overall overpressure damage by 14%
reduced proportional damage scaling for flamethrower...
Without Overpressure:
raptors now receive -3% less damage
bruisers now receive +3% damage
tyrants now receive -11% less damage
WITH Overpressure:
raptors now receive -11% less damage
bruisers now receive -17% less damage
tyrants now receive -25% less damage
SPITTER CHANGES
Dilophosaurus can now extinguish larger dinosaurs without having to charge up spit
fixed bug where a Dilo rapidly biting a human ended up resetting the venom timer with every bite, which caused no damage over time to be applied:
venom DoT now applies at the same time as bite damage
bite damage + venom being simultaneous makes Dilo able to kill faster in close combat
reduced travel speed of spit projectiles
charged spit now stays airborne for half as long before auto detonating
increased stamina cost for charged cryo spit from 45 to 55
reduced cryo acid pool radius, duration from 10 seconds to 6 seconds
GENERAL GAMEPLAY
Scoring change:
Tyrants are now worth 3 kill score when taken down in TDM
score is divided up to three ways to reward team play
player that lands the killing blow always gets at least one kill point
up to two other players who caused the most damage to the Tyrant also get kills
(so long as they hit it within the last 7 seconds)
if only one player did damage to the Tyrant recently, that player gets the full +3 kills
if two players damaged it recently, the one who lands the killing blow gets +2 kills
reduced stamina cost of heavy melee
increased heavy melee dash range
increased spaz shotgun fire rate slightly
reduced default sniper rifle fire rate (both scoped and unscoped)
increased ammo picked up by dual pistols to 4 "clips" instead of 3
adjustments / enhancements / optimizations to several particle effects
a few weapon sound tweaks
fixed Survival vending machine animation playing twice over, now upgrades faster
fixed Pyro sometimes defaulting to the deprecated "babyfaced" model
changed Primal Games Nova name to Thunderstruck Nova
fix for pilot commando bags not rendering properly
fixed missing spikes on Lobo Cryo skin
fixed a Carno skin not having correct head textures
Thalassic Nova complexion tweak - no longer nuclear bright
optimized Dilatatum mutation models

We hope you're having a great 2026 so far!
Our team has been stuck trying to get the PlayStation version certified for the past couple months but we're nearly done with that at long last.
The hope is to have version 3.5 in open testing by end of March, we're looking forward to both Evolution's release and finally bringing a bunch more new content to PC.
Before that, we're investing in new official dedicated servers, soon offering more places to play PCE on PC around the world. As always, thankyou for playing and for your support!
Lots of love,
-The Primal Carnage Team
