Monsters, Mysteries – and Loot
In venturing beyond the Belfry, the thrill of exploration and combat is complemented by meaningful progression. Towerborne’s gameplay draws inspiration from iconic side-scrolling brawlers, blending familiar couch-co-op feels with a deeply customizable and modern action RPG core. Discover new gear, unlock powerful abilities, and grow stronger with every mission. The loop is simple yet satisfying—face deadly foes, gather treasures, and upgrade your character to take on even greater challenges.
Intricate + Intuitive Combat
Towerborne delivers fast, fluid combat that’s easy to pick up, yet rewards players who dig into its combo-based systems. Whether you prefer to mash buttons or master complex combos, Towerborne ensures every fight feels dynamic and satisfying.

On top of that, you can customize your character’s look with endless options for armor, weapons, and more—ensuring your Ace stands out in every battle. How to Play Towerborne Early Access on Steam
Step 1 is to purchase a Founder’s Pack - but don’t worry, being a Founder isn’t just early access to the game; Founders will also unlock exclusive cosmetics, Umbra skins, and monthly rewards. These packs are designed to offer unique customization options for your Ace and will carry over to future releases. In terms of the game itself, we’ve packed a lot into our Early Access build; In Early Access, players get to experience the full core game loop, including missions, combat, and exploration. You’ll engage in dozens of hours of gameplay, experimenting with different weapon classes and Umbra companions.
The launch of Towerborne in Early Access is a major milestone for our team. From day one, we designed this game to be a free-to-play experience, built with Early Access in mind, allowing us to gather feedback from players and refine every aspect of the game.
We chose Steam Early Access for two main reasons: first, it offers the ideal space for a studio like ours to gather feedback and iterate quickly. Second, starting with Steam helps us build a solid foundation before expanding to the larger, global audience that comes with Xbox Game Preview (in 2025).
For those of you who choose to become Founders, we’re excited to build, refine, and realize this game’s potential alongside you. And for those waiting for the full game launch, we can’t wait to deliver a polished, refined experience—shaped in part by the feedback from our Founders.
Shaping Towerborne, Together
Since our initial concept pitch years ago, we’ve been committed to making Towerborne a fair and fun free-to-play experience. The only things you'll ever pay for — if you choose — will be cosmetic items and convenience features, never anything tied to power progression. Our goal is to delight you with what we build and enhance your gameplay, without compromising fairness.
At Stoic, we’re incredibly fortunate to have forged a special bond with those of you who’ve played our games. Our first IP, Banner Saga, was a labor of love—a journey fueled by our passion to create and your eagerness to experience it.
With Towerborne, we’ve brought that same dedication into every aspect of the game, staying true to the spirit that defines Stoic. Steam Early Access is just the beginning of this exciting adventure. We’ve crafted something we’re incredibly proud of, but it’s your support that makes it all possible.
Now, after years of hard work, we’re handing this world over to you. From here, it only grows bigger and better, and we can’t wait to see how you shape the future of Towerborne.
