Iterum Autumn 25 update

UI

- Custom map menu updated to use more sliders and dropdown menus rather than integer inputs.
- Re-skinning of Roman UI begun.
- Playing as the Gauls or Germanians now uses different colors/skins of the UI.
- Terms of Service and privacy policy updated. These are now available on the main web page too.
- Units in (transport) ship cargo now display and properly update HP and Food bars.
- The Encyclopedia now displays Unit and Improvement bonuses (similar to New Unit and New Improvement screens)
- Credits updated.
- Default tooltips now also uses the main UI 9slice texture.
- Settlements list in top right no longer displays Supplies posts.
- Tutorial added explaining bonus to military sea vessels from boarded military units.
- Tutorial added explaining bonus from elevation in fights.
- Messages which are displayed are also entered into the Event log and can be clicked to be displayed again.
- Opening the Happiness breakdown will now recalculate most of the numbers upon display (previously would update after 1 in game day).
- Timer/progress circles are now displayed in multiple locations where there is progress/time required, such as Fortifying, Settling, combat panel auto-closing.
- Combat Panel now automatically closes after some time of inactivity. Hover over it to make it remain longer.
- Cursor now updates to clarify Boarding and Disembarking actions with units and ships.
- Colors and tooltips when Settlement have been adjusted to clarify current exploration knowledge, and distinguish settling new settlements from settling into existing settlements (Blue).
- Fixed several issues with the trader Trade dialog and Supply Army dialogs.
- Icons added to Combat panel for Elevation bonus, Panic and Flanking.
- Added button to Garrison units into Settlement.
- Several tutorials in the Raider and Defender reworked/added.

Settings

- Can now reset all settings to default values

Gameplay

- Units now refill their food supplies at a rate of 3 daily rations per day within your territories.
- Units gain a small amount of experience points when building or upgrading a Fortification.
- Volcanic eruption events added, including warning tremors.
- AI will now try to re-explore tiles after some time has passsed to refresh map knowledge.
- New tile type introduced: Mountains. The mountains are by default not traversable.
- Settlement culture alignments now persist in saves. Happiness penalty from low cultural alignment now reduced, and varies with difficulty.
- Risk of Rioters and Leavers at low happiness reduced, and now varies with both difficulty and population size.
- Traders now stop their trading cycle if the target Settlement gets converted to your nation.
- Units with specific Improvement requirements are no longer recruitable if the Improvements are asleep/inactive.
- Units which are captured to stop/reset their orders.
- Wood-cutter Camp is no longer required to construct Docks and Ships, but will instead decrease their construction cost (or rather, cost is now increased for Docks without having this improvement).
- High Ground bonus added, where units and armies fighting from a higher elevation get an advantage - higher bonuses at higher inclines.
- Can no longer disembark or board ships where the land elevation is more than 0.5 (cliffs).
- Armies can now flank enemies, gaining attack bonuses and demoralizing the enemies.
- Suffering Morale losses below certain threshold can cause units to panic.
- Panicing units will be near worthless in battle.
- Units which enter panic may demoralize other units in the same army and cause chain-panics, making well-timed flanks very powerful.
- Capturing Traders will make them automatically join your army. Traders with food supplies cargo will automatically distribute food supplies to the army.

Multiplayer

- Fixed demolishing of improvements.
- Fixed so you can dismiss units and armies.
- Players can now select color for their nation.
- Can now rejoin started games where you had disconnected (non-host clients only).
- Configurable Limited # of pauses-system added.
- Pause and Disconnect menus added/updated when in-game.
- Can now board ships and disembark units in multiplayer.

Graphics

- Adjusted day/night cycle for smoother transitions at game speeds 1 and 2.
- Settlement borders now generate and render properly for irregularly shaped settlement domains.
- Particle effects are now colored/shaded depending on day/night cycle colors.
- Fixed several textures displaying debug purple (bad paths)
- Fixed some river rendering issues between certain tiles.
- Updated how we render plains and Farms when Plains tiles are worked by a settlement.

Input

- Can now Right click on the buttons of Units, Armies and Settlements to make your units walk there and attack targets (previously had to click on the tile or 3d entity).
- Hitting the Next Settlement arrow buttons (or comma ,) will now center the camera on the selected Settlement as well.
- Feedback from clicking on the map is now same speed regardless of chosen in-game speed.

Editor

- New Scriptable Event Triggers added:

  • Settlements settled, similar to 'Built Fortification'
  • Nation built Improvement of given type

- Several new Scriptable Event actions added:

  • Set Improvement Buildable/Not Buildable for nation
  • Spawn Mineral
  • Set Trade route
  • Set Bad Weather on specific tiles
  • Add Armaments to Settlement
  • Trigger Volcanic Eruption
  • Set Settlement culture level
  • Set Tiles untraversable
  • Set Unit trade Cargo (for Traders, Trade ships)
  • Reveal Tiles (for x days)

- Adjustments to some Actions:

  • Can now set Game speed when toggling Cinematic mode.
  • Army templates including both ships and land units will now make the units auto-board the ships if spawned on water tiles.
  • Set Move Destination will now automatically trigger disembarking and launching attacks if used on fleets with military units in cargo.
  • Multiple Show Message actions can now be stacked into the same Scriptable Event for sequential display.
  • Multiple Triggers now save the unit which triggered the event, which can then be used in the associated event Actions (added to the Unit dropdowns).
  • Can now set Resupply settings in the Set Patrol Path action, to let units automatically resupply and recover from cold damage and low food supplies at the nearest or designated Settlement or Supplies post.

- Can now adjust Armaments and initial Taxation settings of Settlements in the inspector.
- New Movable Traits added which can be applied to Units and Armies, including:

  • No starvation
  • No Freezing
  • No Desertion

- UI added to manage garrisons in Settlements.
- Several Drop down menus can now be filtered quickly by typing: Trigger Type, Unit Selector, Improvement type, Event selector, Unit Type, etc.
- Playtest map button changed into a Dropdown to easily playtest in the 3 difficulties: Easy, Medium, Hard.

Bug fixes

- Several crash bugs fixed.
- Fixed so Elite Attack Ship can hold 1 unit as transport cargo.
- Fixed issue where Settlement buttons remained visible even when Settlement was destroyed.
- Fixed issue where some texts in the Buy Improvement screen would display red when becoming affordable.
- Fixed issue where Years were displaying incorrectly in the victory conditions.
- Fixed issue where Settlement borders would sometimes shrink when building certain improvements.
- Fixed issues with Static unit behavior for units. They will now hold their ground.
- Fixed several locations where Factions were displayed as selectable which are not relevant anymore (only Romans, Gauls, Germanians now).
- Fixed some issues with settling multiple peasants simultaneously.

Audio

- Minimum delay set between voice effects when selecting units and armies rapidly.

Localization

- Latin localization updated with 485 missing entries.
- Renamed 'zones' to 'rutor' in Swedish loc.
- Added disclaimer in our Terms of Service that we use AI-powered initial translations. Please contact us if you find issues!
- French localization reviewed and iterated.
- Polish localization partially reviewed.

Technical

- Discord rich presence added. Discord will now display what you are doing in-game, including what scenario you are playing.
- Adjusted handling of particle systems and particle emitters which was causing crashes.
- Process set up for saving crash dumps on game crash so we can iron out the remaining crash bugs.
- Console commands added to set and view map variables, and reveal all tiles for debugging.
- Several text sizes fixed for Mac OSX build (retina resolution displays).
- Improved performance when having many units on the map at the same time.
- Adjusted how instance buffers are invalidated/re-populated, increasing rendering performance.
- Improved ways to save current scroll position and re-scroll when lists are re-populated.
- Enable using F-keys and Cmd+V on Mac OSX.
- Increased performance of text rendering by cache optimization.

Planned development

- Fix multiplayer crashes and synchronizations still missing. - Add Mountains to the main map generator. - Add Rivers placement to the main map generator. - Add food production bonuses to tiles next to Rivers. - Continue iterating UI reskinning. - Iterate 3d visuals of the world map and surroundings. - More Roman empire historical scenarios in the works.
