Hello everyone! I have been working on Rootlash in the past months and some major changes have been made in which I will be sharing some insight and sneakpeeks.
First and foremost, the biggest change that we've made is to change the character model. The old character had some issues with its movement and fighting. Sadly, I was unable to resolve these so I had to opt in for using another model. Our new Tree character does come with some new awesome animations and moves! From new fighting animations to simple things such as running will now be possible. This will also up the pace of the game, which was a critical feedback point for the game as some people felt that the pace was too slow.
But enough talking and let's share some footage of the new tree in action!

Here you can see our tree fighting off the wood workers who are trying to destroy his forest! To improve the feel and flow of combat, the tree will now automatically target an enemy when you want to smack them.

And as you can see these new animations feel and flow a lot better than the previous model that was used before. I am looking forward to your thoughts and feedback about this change.
So what's next?
For the coming month. I am also planning to improve the AI as a matter of look and feel. I also want to replace the current "soldier" model to more fit the theme of the game. I also want to introduce fleeing behaviour for the AI in which they will try to run away if they feel like they're losing.
Also as for the open world, I have been prototyping and testing around various of settings, and now I have come up with a solution of having a world with different biomes, seasons and more. This is all still a Work In Progress so stay tuned for more news!
That will be all again for this week and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas for Rootlash! :)
