Some quality of life update to our map editor - v1.1.22

The map editor overhaul is here

The map editor got a decent quality of life update: you can now move and rotate everything you have already placed, snap elements onto each other, and test drive your map as a real race. On top of that there is a whole pile of multiplayer fixes.

New Features

  • Move and rotate placed elements. You can now properly select placed elements, and then translate, rotate them etc.

  • Snapping. Elements snap onto each other now, so ramps, platforms and bridges line up on their own. The scroll wheel (LB/RB on controller) cycles through the possible snapping points.

  • Multi selection. Select several elements at once, either by holding Shift or by dragging a rectangle over them. Moving, rotating and deleting then works on the whole selection.

  • 19 new map editor elements: ramps, platforms, a triple and a quad jump, a start and goal line, towers, a tree, an arch, a bridge, scaffolding, a roof, a spinner and more.

  • Test map. The new button in the map editor menu drives your map as a real race, with checkpoints, laps and the race UI, and brings you back into the editor right where you left off.

  • Controls panel. A panel in the map editor lists every key and button it uses. F1 toggles it.

  • Deleting custom maps is possible again, right in the island menu of the map editor. For maps you are subscribed to on the Workshop, the button unsubscribes instead.

Improvements

  • Multiplayer: a race now starts as soon as everybody who is waiting in the garage is ready, instead of sitting out the rest of the countdown. The countdown itself is down from 2 minutes to 1 minute.

  • Repairing and resetting are now only possible while a multiplayer race is actually running. Before the start everybody stands on the same spot, and a repair shoved all the cars around you away.

  • Map editor elements now show their own name in the parts menu. Until now every single one of them was called "Angled beam".

  • Menus no longer keep a button preselected while you play with mouse and keyboard, so a menu key cannot click a button you never pointed at.

  • The V1 deco panels do not take up the space behind them anymore, so you can build parts right behind them.

Fixes

  • Fixed cars getting blasted apart when somebody changed cars while everyone was spawned in the same spot.

  • Fixed the wheels of other players' cars spinning around the wrong axis, and the wheels on one side of the car flipping over as soon as they were steered.

  • The engine sound of other players' cars was stepping along with the network packets. It follows the revs smoothly now.

  • Fixed the drivers license, the tutorials and the tech tree still being shown in multiplayer.

  • Fixed the daily best times button in the garage sitting on top of the chat.

  • Fixed only one of several spinners of a custom map being synced in multiplayer.

  • Fixed the settings of a checkpoint being lost when another element was selected right afterwards.

  • Fixed the properties panel staying open for elements that have no properties at all.

  • Fixed elements on a slope being tilted off it while they were rotated into place.

  • Fixed the invisible helper colliders of map elements getting in the way during a test drive.

  • Fixed scaled elements like the roof and the scaffolding snapping too close to their neighbour.

Thank you for all the reports and feedback as always. Wish you a happy week!
Simon
