My name is Giorgio, I’m a marketing and community guy that has recently joined the ranks of Feardemic, the publisher and developer of this game. Before we get to the subject of this post, allow me to say “thank you” on behalf of both Bloober Team and Feardemic for having supported 2084 by purchasing the Early Access version - it should have been said a long time ago.
As you might have heard, Feardemic has just revealed The Raid, a new fast-paced multiplayer shooter with PVP and PVE elements set in the same universe of Observer. For those of you who have seen the trailer (linked below), what we have shown probably looked very familiar, and therefore we owe you an explanation. I’ll also take the chance to finally address some of the many questions you have written in the forums over the past 21 months. But let’s start from what The Raid actually is.

What is The Raid?
As I just stated above, The Raid is a multiplayer shooter with PVP and PVE elements set in the same universe of Observer.
In this grim cyberpunk world, The Raid is a VR tournament organized by the almighty Chiron Corporation, which attracts the distraught lower ends of the population looking for any opportunity to make some money.
The players, as tournament participants, compete both between each other and against hordes of virtual enemies, ascending upwards in a tower with the goal of reaching the top and kill the boss to take home the prize
The players will fight using a range of unique and customizable weapons, as well as hacking abilities that will allow them to manipulate environments and opponents.
Players will be able to use their tournament rewards to personalize their characters’ appearances.
How The Raid is different from 2084?
As a matter of fact, the only things in common between 2084 and The Raid are that they are set in the Observer universe. The reason why they don’t even share the name is that The Raid goes in a completely new direction to that originally intended for 2084, and with a much wider scope - we don’t want to spoil everything, but we can guarantee you that 2084 is just a tiny fraction of what The Raid will be.
What happened to 2084? When it will leave Early Access?
Let’s address the elephant in the room by finally breaking the silence on the status of the development: to no one’s surprise, the development of 2084 has been interrupted and won’t be resumed.
The reasons behind this decision are many, but essentially it’s because the concept and development plans of 2084 have been altered so much to make it easier to start building a new game from scratch rather than working around an existing one. Thus, the idea for The Raid was born.
Will I get rewarded for supporting 2084? And why is 2084 still in on sale?
Actually, YES - we intend to reward all of you who purchased 2084 by giving you almost-free access to The Raid once it’ll be released. Due to the much wider contents and higher development costs of The Raid as compared to 2084, we cannot afford to give you The Raid completely for free, but we promise that the purchase price for owners of 2084 will be merely symbolic.
This also brings us to why 2084 is still on sale - consider it as a way to support the development of The Raid by “preordering” it. Eventually, once The Raid will be released, 2084 will be removed from sale.
Will The Raid be an Early Access game?
NO - we intend to release The Raid as a finished, completely functional experience that will eventually get expanded through updates depending on its initial success.
Are you going to keep us updated this time?
YES, we do intend to keep you updated about the development of The Raid before, during, and after the launch.
While there are no excuses for the complete wall of silence that surrounded 2084, we promise you that the development of The Raid will be transparent, the communication regular, and that we will keep all of you posted through the official Feardemic channels (you can find the links below) as well as here on the 2084 Steam community spaces.

At the moment, the release is set for early 2022. The Raid is in the very early development stage, therefore it might take some time before you’ll get to know more about it, but we guarantee you we won’t withhold any information about it.
