Over the past few weeks some kind people of our Doodle Derby community pointed out a couple of bugs in the game. I am very happy for this feedback and did my best to fix these things as soon as I could. Please stay alert and report any issues you might find and I will check it out and fix things.
So let’s just call this Doodle Derby v1.01. ːsteamhappyː
What where the issues?

After collecting a map you would lose all your single player progress. Unfortunately we can’t recover any progress you might have lost.
The second issue was that uploading a level to mod.io would give an error. This is now fixed and you can start sharing your wildest creations. Looking forward to seeing them.
How was this possible?
Well, without becoming to technical, when you fix things in a game or implement some optimization, sometimes, new bugs slip in. Things we missed. So again, please stay alert and let me know on the community discussions when you find something suspicious.

The past few weeks have been exiting and weird. Finalizing the game and getting it ready for the final release. I’ve been working on it day and night for the past three years. So this moment is something I visualized many times, a dream come true. And here we are Doodle Derby has left Early Access!

The creation of this passion project was a hell of a ride. It sure wasn’t without bumps and I had to learn a lot along the way. It was a struggle to get visibility and recognition. The support of friends, family and you has been incredible helpful and supporting. You gave me the energy to push forward in stressful times when work kept piling up.

I would like to thank all the people who helped out testing the game since the very buggy beginning. Thanks for your bug reports and suggestions. This was invaluable feedback and brought the game where it is today.

The 1.0
It took me 3 years. It was a blast. And here it is version 1.0. Fromto: Toy Cars in Hell became Doodle Derby. And now we are leaving Early Access. This opens the game up to all the players who just won’t play early access games, which is very understandable. Now as the game is at 1.0 we are also ready for the release on Nintendo Switch. Yeah!
Enjoy the game, buy it if you haven’t already. I mean it’s the price of a fancy cup of coffee. ːsteamhappyː

Doodle Derby v1.0 release notes:

12 new steam achievements.
World records and your rank on the leaderboard is shown per single player level.
localization update: Missing translations and overlapping text issues are resolved.
Some UI improvements.
The game now uses 3d sound.
Sync projectiles in tank battle mode in a better way.
General optimization to make the game run as smooth as possible.
Medal sprites updated.
Switch version done
Some improvements on the level editor
Mod.io functionality improved and updated.
Bug fixes:

Elevator sound bug.
fix a bug where the game would act as a tank battle in race mode.
Fixed the thing where you could pause the game at the start of a single player level and start driving while paused. This way you could reduce your time drastically.
Fixed the thing where the timer could occasionally be negative.
Fixed a thing where you could get an error when a gamepad was lost.

I hope everybody is doing well in these strange and scary Corona times.
Although it has been quiet the past few weeks around Fromto, this doesn’t mean we have been standing still. On the contrary I would say. We have been working really hard to take the game to the next level. We feel this update is a giant leap forward.
Big changes, new name.
We decided that from the moment of this update ‘Fromto’ will get an entirely new name: ‘Doodle Derby’. We feel that Doodle Derby has more appeal to it and reflects the game better.
More game for less money.
We lowered the price of the game so all those people, currently sitting at home, can start playing the game right away without any hesitation. If you already own the game, you will get a copy for free. It will be added to your steam account. So you can give it to a friend and double the fun!
Here is a summary of the new stuff:
A new game mode: Tank battle!
The single player challenges are done
General optimization for better performance
Pimped multiplayer levels
New fancy backgrounds
Menus have been updated
New ‘ultra noob’ setting to flatten the curve
Improvements, additions and changes on multiple track elements
Some bug fixes

It is time for the big winter update. This is the second content update during early access. I really enjoyed working on it and added some crazy new stuff. I made a bunch of new single player challenges which will truly test your skills. I also created a few winter themed new track parts and special effects. Watch out for icicles!
Oh and in case you didn’t notice we are currently on sale 50% off! (or this will happen any time) Now would be a good time to invite a friend to come and play Fromto: Toy Cars in Hell!
Finally here is what has changed in this winter update:
New content:
12 new single player challenges
A new multiplayer map: “Snow time”. Unlocked and ready to go
New Track parts: Ice platform with dangerous icicles, snowman, snow cloud, snowy trees
During winter rain is snow and the goo canon is a snowball canon
It actually snows in some levels
The shop is extended with the new items
New backgrounds
Warm Santa hats for the drivers during winter
Minor fixes:
The ‘Beetle’ car and the black sports car got mixed up sometimes. That’s now fixed
Smoke emitting from coals is a bit slower
The way medals are drawn in the over world has changed
Physics particles are more consistent
Background sprites are saved and loaded differently. This could cause your custom backgrounds in your custom levels to be removed. You can regenerate another one of course
Rebuild level option appears more clear now in single player
The physics for the drivers have been modified slightly
The winner of the ‘evil level’ challenge is Nik with "evil cat"! Congratulations! We will send you another key to give to a friend.

Here I am with another small Fromto update. It came to my attention that many people are playing the game with the keyboard (of course). Some of you had problems with remapping keys and no wonder… There were some loose ends in the remapping system. So I decided to take the time to make this work properly. In addition, I upgraded the UI so the controls are displayed more clear in game:
I am working on the new levels for the single player campaign. This takes time to do it right.
I will let you know when the next batch arrives. For now, I added one extra level to play around with.
Here is what has changed with this keyboard UI update:
I changed the default keyboard mapping to something that works better
(You can manually rebuild the previous setup, if you prefer the old one)
The controls remapping system should work now properly
You can now actually save your custom controls setup
There is a double check now when choosing a key which is already in use
The in game controls help system got a paint job and looks much clearer
Other things:
Single player level 8: I gave a bit more points to spend in the shop and some easier track parts as it seemed too hard for some in this stage
Added one extra single player level (more to come!)
Changed the Font for Arabic users
Lastly:
The design an “Evil Level Challenge” is still on. I am really hoping to see your creation!
You can win the extra steam key to give away to a friend

Here I am with a small update. Last week I was ill for a few days so I had to lay down more than I wanted. Fortunately I managed to improve a small number of things anyways. But most important I want to invite you to a little challenge! ːsteamhappyː
THE CHALLENGE IS SIMPLE:
Design a multiplayer level in the level editor and upload it so we can all enjoy it
The theme is ‘evil’. Make it cruel, make it hard, make it evil
I will pick the best -most evil- level and reward the creator with another steam key to give to a friend
The last day for your submissions is Friday December the 13th (of course)
Make sure you tag your creation with ‘evil challenge’
The winner will be announced here on Steam!

MINOR FIXES
Clear the inventory properly after building
Some weird sound-keeps- going issues have been fixed
No mouse pointer in Free ride please
When you finished as last the camera will stay on you
A fatal error involving the hand of God has been fixed
A few UI improvements
In a few rare occasions you could get stuck in a shop that wasn’t there anymore. That should be fixed
The syncing of points should be fine now
SAW FUNCTIONALITY

First off all: Thanks to all the players who jumped into the game from the very first start! It is great to read your super positive feedback. You have given me some very useful ideas and suggestions. Great!
Here is what has changed with the first Early Access update:
MINOR FIXES
Selecting custom levels could cause a freeze when a custom map wasn’t finished.
Rotation of items in level editor resets now after picking something up.
Prevent some objects from spawning twice when reloading a level.
No more negative points.
Some sound effects volumes/ fixes.
Your zoom level is now maintained for the duration of a game.
Sound settings save correctly now.
The right message shows when prompted for mod.io validation code.
Restore the menu background when leaving the level loader.
No more drawing of in game player info while paused.
Unlock menu now hides the game summary.
Deselect car selection button in the over world when not hovering over it.
Some medal times weren’t configured correctly. This is now fixed.
The “shark” didn’t destroy blocks in the Harbour level. Which it should!
When someone leaves an online game the rest can continue playing!
FEATURES
Start a free ride in any level from single player menu.
The level loader (mod.io) is upgraded.
A few more levels are now unlocked from the start of the game.
Harbour level had a small make over.
The single player flow has been improved and allows for faster retrying.
The first set of Steam achievements has been added!

Early Access is only three weeks away. So let's highlight a few cool things that will be within the Early Access release version.
The core gameplay
In Fromto: Toy Cars in Hell you must build the track before trying to reach the goal of the level. You will start off as a little helicopter, collect crates and use the items inside to pave your way to the finish. After building you can try to make it to the finish in a hell of a ride. Can’t do it? Rebuild it.
Highlighting some Early Access release features:
2 Multiplayer Modes
Race in turns: the traps YOU place won’t harm you, but they will be a pain for the rest.
Race together: you can crash against each other. Push them of the cliff!
Singleplayer Campaign Chapter 1
Combine your brains with your skills to earn gold medals on all levels. (about 20 levels)
Gameplay Customization
Customize your multiplayer game with your own gameplay settings. (modifiers)
Level Editor
Build your own multiplayer map in minutes and play / share them instantly.
Download and play maps build by the community.
