Today you are treated to an update that has been a long time in the making. It contains many improvements - some obvious, some less so, but all designed to make things better for you.
Changelist:
- Upgraded to the newest version of Senile Team's custom-made game library. This means better compatibility, automatic scaling to adapt to different screen resolutions, and you can now switch between full-screen and windowed mode by pressing Alt+Enter or F11.
- More sound effects were added in various sections of the game. For example, coins now make a sound when bouncing around, which makes them more satisfying to collect. Additional sound effects were also added to the arcade, NPCs and enemies. Even more will likely be added in a future update.
- Some players had difficulty figuring out that the large stone block in Blobby Blob Dungeon can be pushed. Now it has an arrow on it.
- The menus have been improved, especially the controller configuration menus. For example, an option to cancel changes to the configuration was added. And if you are using an official PS4 or PS5 controller, the game will detect this and display the appropriate button images in the menu.
- Pictures of Izzy in various costumes were added to the title screen.
- Izzy in bat form is now blocked from flying through bridges, to avoid confusion about where you can and cannot go.
- On the technical side, many changes were made that you will not (or should not) notice, at least not directly. They are mostly important for code maintenance and future updates. For example, the Steam SDK was updated to a newer version. Also various code optimisations were applied, and some redundant code was removed.
This update required many hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of changes to the data and code. Of course great care was taken not to introduce any bugs, but if you find any that escaped my attention, please do not hesitate to report it.
