This time around we've squished a few bugs and changed some of the controls:
QoL Changes

You can now drag classes to re-arrange the order once more.
We've changed how the scroll wheel interacts with some menus.
We've also made a series of improvements to seme designs.
Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue where a child of the current gender couldn't fulfill Expectations.
Fixed a bug where parents' personalities wouldn't change even after a new generation became the new parents.
Fixed an issue where pressing space repeatedly in the Friends and Study menus would make the game get stuck in dialog or continue to pop up new dialog even if the menus hadn't been closed yet.
Fixed a series of other small issues.
Please note that the first two bug fixes mentioned above (Expectations/Personality) only take effect after starting a new generation.

Hello Parents,
We've received plenty of feedback since the new version went live. And we are working around the clock to resolve these issues.
Resolved issues:

Fixed the issue where the game might freeze when choosing a profession at turn 24.
Fixed the issue where your parents' profession info may be displayed incorrectly under Personal Info after converting your savefile.
Fixed a series of interaction and UI issues.
Note: It was only the profession titles that were displayed incorrectly, meaning that you still received the amount of money that you were supposed to. However, if you've played the 2.0.0.0 version and want to re-convert your save anew, follow the steps at the end of this update log.
Known issues we are working on:
Inability to import old saves
This issue is because the old save folder was in Chinese, and for users whose computers are unable to show Chinese characters, the folder name is instead a string of random symbols. While this won't affect you loading these saves in the 1.0.9.7 version, later versions than 2.0.0.0 will be unable to find the correct folder, and therefore can't convert the saves. We are currently working on a fix for this.
How to re-convert your saves (this will DELETE your current 2.0.0.0 save files)
First, disable Steam Cloud for now (right-click on Chinese Parents in your Steam Library, then choose 'Properties...'. Then simply untick the 'Keep games saves in Steam Cloud for Chinese Parents'.)
Now, navigate to the C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\moyuwan and delete the chineseparentsgame folder (this is where the new version's saves are kept).
Ensure that you do NOT delete the other folder as that's where your old saves are kept: 中国式家长 (or a string of random symbols if your computer can't display Chinese)
Now, press Win + R, then write 'regedit' and press enter to access your registry.
Here, navigate to the following folder:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\moyuwan\chineseparentsgame
Find and right-click OldRecord_Conversion_Success_h1722812532 and delete it.
Boot up the game again and check whether your saves have been converted.
Now that that's done, make sure to turn on Steam Cloud again.
If you still don't get a prompt about the conversion, try going to C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\moyuwan\中国式家长\Save and delete the steam_autocloud.vdf file and try again.
If that still won't work, please send us all content in your C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\moyuwan folder and we'll have a look.

Long time no see! During the past months, we've made plenty of new content and have ported the game to other platforms as well. Looking back at the previous version, it's become apparent to us that it would be incredibly difficult to iterate and improve upon much of our content with minor patches. And so, we've opted for making a complete overhaul of the game instead!
This overhaul comprises the features as well as the art. Oh, and you will be able to continue playing with your old saves right where you left off. However, the new version also comes with plenty of content unavailable in the older version, and we've changed the way in which talents are gained.Should you prefer playing the older version of the game, you can do so by changing which version you're playing on Steam.
PS. Due to the pandemic, we don't have access to all devices. As we're worried that we haven't done enough testing on the Mac version and that it might have too many issues, we will be releasing that version at a later date once we've made the necessary changes.
This update contains the following:
Content Updates

Added Parent Types

Choose just what kind of parent you'll be. Will you be more lenient with your child? Focus on grades above all else? Or support them fostering a new interest, perhaps? It's your family, so you get to set the educational policy.
Added More Besties & Bros!

We've also added new social activities to join in on. Your child can now go out with their friends to eat kebabs, go shopping, or play basketball to further their friendships.
Added Character Gallery

The Character Gallery is a record of everyone you've met, and can meet. If you're unsure how to meet someone, try checking their info in the Character Gallery.
Added Family Gallery

Study hard and you can level up your Family Gallery, unlocking more content and granting later generations Talent boosts.
Assets & Balance Adjustments

Improved character art.
Improved UI.
Improved the Profession selection interface.
Improved the Family Tree interface.

Previously text-only, the Family Tree has now been augmented with images. We've also added more content to the Family Tree, so you can boast about your achievements for generations to come.
When playing on a pre-update save, some of the previous generations' Family Tree records will be blank, as this content's only just been added.
Optimized how Talents are inherited.

Talents are now split between Family Talents and Parents' Talents. The former are improved by leveling up your Family Gallery, and apply to all later generations. Parents' Talents are determined by the profession you take on, and the spouse you end up with, once reaching adulthood. They only apply to your child in the following generation, however.
Your existing Talents will remain unchanged when playing on a previous save from the 1.0.9.7 version.
There's been a change of sales policies in the Shop, and the owner's no longer offering lottery tickets. The [Fortune's Favorite] achievement has been replaced with [Happy Mother's Day]; purchase certain items in the Shop and give them to your mother to unlock it.
What do I do if I want to play the old version?
Find and right-click [Chinese Parents] in your Steam library, then choose [Properties] and navigate to the [BETAS] menu. Once there, simply select [good_old_times] in the "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" drop-down menu.
About Saves
If you've played Chinese Parents before and you've got the save on your computer, your old saves will automatically be copied to the new save folder and converted into the new version the first time you boot up the 2.0.0.0 version.
For your information: the new saves are saved in a different directory to the old ones, so if you choose the good_old_times version, your old saves will be used instead. Oh, and no progress you make in the 2.0.0.0 version will affect your old saves.

One Act - The Early Access version features one Act, providing 5-6 hours of playtime per playthrough.
Six heroes - At the moment, players can choose from six different heroes each with their own unique class, skills, and playstyle to form a party of three and bring to adventure. At launch, there is a swordhand, a cleric, a ranger, a scoundrel, a druid and a spellbinder.
Hundreds of skills - The heroes have a combined total of close to 500 passive and active skills that can be deployed during turn-based battles, allowing players to discover and formulate their favorite combos.
Train and equip heroes - Heroes can be upgraded, trained and equipped with a large selection of weapons, armor and enchanted trinkets to enhance their abilities.
High replayability - Procedurally generated maps and dungeons and randomized hero skills make each playthrough different from the last.
Various difficulty levels - Take on hardcore mode for a teeth-gritting permadeath experience, or play more casually where death is only a setback.
Loot galore - Gather items and relics throughout your journey to boost your heroes’ abilities. In the future, you will also encounter mysterious items that can bless your heroes but also cripple them with a curse at the same time.
Carryover rewards and progression system - Get rewarded the more you play. Progressing in Acts with each hero lets them start off with a bit more resources, items, or even granting the ability to modify their starting decks.

Three more Acts - The completed game will feature four fully fleshed out Acts to explore - each with new heroes, skills, quests, relics, items and NPCs to discover. Each Act will introduce new gameplay mechanics that expand on and enrich the base game experience.
More heroes - Encounter more heroes from all over the realm and form new party combos and relationships. We are anticipating adding at least 10-16 more heroes.
Relationship system - Future development will introduce a unique system where bonds of friendship, rivalry, mentorship or even love among the heroes in the party can be uncovered to unlock secret combo abilities.
Shape the course of your adventure - Align yourself with different factions, embark on side quests and eventually shape the course of your adventure with critical decisions.
Endless mode - This special mode makes the game a perpetual adventure and allows you to keep on questing, slaying more monsters and collecting more heroes, skills, relics and weapons.
PVP mode - Engage in skirmish fights with other players using your preferred mix of heroes and skills.
