Over the past two months we've focused on improving the overall gameplay experience based on your feedback. Alongside many bug fixes, we've also introduced new content and significantly improved performance.
What's New?
Improved tutorial and quest progression for a smoother start.
New Blood Ruins quests and expanded progression with additional NPCs and rewards.
Improved world map with clearer quest markers and better group information.
Better combat feel with improved ability targeting, new consumables, and clearer item tooltips.

Throughout January, we ran playtests every weekend and released three major patches.
A huge thank you to all testers for your feedback, bug reports, and continued support — you played a key role in shaping the game!
Patch 1 – Stability, Fixes & Playtest Improvements
Numerous bug fixes across gameplay, items, UI, and backend
Corrections to stamina, health orbs, damage numbers, and character effects
Fixed movement, collision, and climbing issues

Usurpator Playtest – Sign Up Now!
Registration for the Usurpator Playtest is now available via our Steam page! We are currently working on several hotfixes and hope to release the playtest version on December 27th and 28th.

In the current gameplay build, our main focus is on identifying critical issues that could prevent players from progressing. This is where your feedback is especially important.
What to expect in the playtest: All players will start at maximum level 20, receive 10,000 gold, and have maximum reputation with all merchants. This gives you immediate access to all game mechanics: -Buy and upgrade weapons and equipment -All runes in the game are currently available for purchase -Easily test different weapon and build combinations -Several extraction missions are also unlocked and available to play
Arena Combat System: The arena system currently supports 1v1 battles. The winner gains points from the loser and can climb the global leaderboard to prove their skill.

Important note: All unlocked progress may be reset with each new playtest restart.

The Blood Ruins are now available as an extraction mission You can now experience the Ruins as a standalone extraction scenario and try out new strategies.
Daily Rewards further improved We fine-tuned the reward system so logging in daily feels even more worthwhile.
Major UI enhancements Numerous interface elements have been reworked, cleaned up, and visually improved to create a smoother experience.
Various minor bugs fixed Several community-reported issues have been resolved.
Looking Ahead: December Playtest
We’re currently working hard on preparing a Steam Playtest for December. It will give you access to upcoming features and changes and marks an important step in our development roadmap.

October brings fresh improvements to Usurpator! With the brand-new Daily Reward System, it’s now even more rewarding to log in and play every day. We’ve also made several gameplay, quest, and loot improvements to make your experience smoother and more engaging.
Daily Rewards!

You can now earn up to three daily rewards, no matter if you play Survival, Arena, or Battlefield.
The system resets every day, so make sure to log in daily to claim your rewards!
Gameplay & Balancing
(✓) Starting weapon is now Sword and Shield
(✓) Treasure chest placements have been reworked
(✓) Loot from destructible objects has been adjusted and improved
(✓) In Survival Mode, you now receive a new quest: → Extract once all primary quests have been completed

🔧 Item Bar – Improved Handling
Items can now be added to or removed from the item bar using Ctrl + Left Click – quick and easy!
The auto-fill function for the item bar has been fixed.
Only usable objects can now be assigned.
Assigned items that are not present in the inventory are now shown with darkened icons.
Tooltips now support holding the Alt key to display additional information.
⚒️ Forge & Improvements
The upgrade area in the forge window now also supports Ctrl + Left Click – quickly assign or remove weapons.
Inventory slots now indicate an "IsBlocked" state if the item is currently in use.
The "IsBlocked" state now also works for stacks.
Tooltips in the Forge Improvement window have been fixed and now support the new interaction hotkeys.

Our Kickstarter campaign sadly did not reach its goal, but we are not giving up just yet!
We plan to continue the development at our usual pace and hope to have an Early Access
version of the game ready by Q1 2021!
Both Sebi and I thank each and everyone of you, for the support and feedback you are giving to us. We have come a long way and seeing the community grow is what keeps us going!
So what is next, you ask?
- Well, here are the things we are working towards rights now:

Create a coop adventure level, with an incorporated tutorial, so people have a better experience when they start with the game.
Integrate the talent system, so classes can have different builds.
Improve and expand the crafting system with new resources and items.
There are many things, bugs and improvements we are working on too, but those are the main tasks we are chipping away at right now.
We will use this ROADMAP to show our general progress.
We hope you stick with us and help us test the upcoming patches so we get a good idea of how our plans are shaking out.
Regarding the demo we sadly have to remove it due to the running server costs.
We will think about how we are going to let people get access to the pre alpha, now that the demo is going offline, but this might take a few weeks until we have a good solution.
For all the pre alpha testers who already have a key, there will be a server up for testing purposes. We will host a playtest with a new patch every Wednesday going forward too.
So that is it for now, we will keep you updated!
