Start out on one of the tropical islands of New Haven as a shape-shifting, DNA-eating slime. Chew your way through salamanders, seagulls and crabs to assume your initial shape. Take on bigger, stronger opponents as you work your way up the food chain. Mammals, birds, insects, dinosaurs and more are all on the menu!
To give you an idea of how it looks, here are a few mutants that were randomly spliced together by our creature constructor:
One of our big game design focuses is making evolves really game-changing, enough that Strange Seed could also be called a Metroidvania. Big, strong creatures can break down barriers; thin, small ones can traverse hidden holes; lightweight creatures with wings can fly; smart ones can read a biology textbook… Of course, you may need to eat a human’s brain to get that last one.
During July, we'll also begin work on allowing players to swap skins and further customize their weird creation. And we're working to figure out pacifist playthroughs, too -- DNA can be given freely, not just stolen.
It’s early days: we began work on Strange Seed in January 2023, and we don’t plan to launch until mid-2024. But your support and interest would mean the world to us. It’s terrifying to start on a big new game (and this one is much, much larger than Reverie!) and every wishlist or comment counts.
