Who are WDC?
WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation are the leading global charity dedicated to the protection of whales and dolphins.
Their expert-led teams in the UK, Europe, the Americas, and Australasia work across the whole spectrum of threats, from climate breakdown to accidental entanglements in fishing gear, pollution, captivity and hunting and whaling. They bring together, and work hand-in-hand with, businesses, philanthropists, scientists, NGOs, governments and grassroots communities to find solutions to the problems faced by whales and dolphins.
Their mission is to reverse the global decline of whale and dolphin populations by creating safe seas for these majestic beings. And their vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.What is ghost gear?
Ghost gear is fishing gear that has been lost or abandoned at sea. It’s a deadly menace to whales, dolphins and other marine life.
When a whale or dolphin gets tangled in it, it can kill them in the most horrific way, by preventing them from getting to the surface to breathe. Or they can carry it for days, weeks or even months suffering a slow and painful death as it cuts into their skin, restricts their movement and hampers their ability to hunt and feed.
But it’s difficult and expensive for fishers and other ocean users to dispose of gear they find at sea, or even to responsibly get rid of their own gear at the end of its life.
Did you know that about 1/3 of marine litter found in European seas is discarded fishing gear? That's estimated to be over 11,000 tonnes entering the sea each year!
It is a massive problem and so WDC are working on some innovative solutions.How your support will help this year

Whales and dolphins are awe-inspiring, intelligent beings. The ocean produces more oxygen and absorbs more carbon than all of Earth's forests combined, and whales help it flourish. Yet 300,000 whales die in fishing gear every year.

We can't wait for our wonderful Swim Out fans to dive into Rip Them Off!Speaking of which, ahead of our September 24th launch, we need YOUR help. That's right, we're launching a beta test program that'll give you the chance to play Rip Them Off before anyone else, and become an integral part of our development process by providing us with essential feedback on your experience.
Using your feedback, we'll be able to further balance the game, learn what you love, what you think could be improved, what might be missing from the experience, etc. Your feedback is essential for us to release the absolute best game possible, one that you'll want to play and recommend to your friends.
Excitingly, we're giving selected beta testers the option to have their name credited in the game, as our way of saying thank you for providing us with your wonderful feedback.
The selected players will also be invited to an exclusive Discord server where you'll be able to feedback to us directly (or fill out our feedback form if you'd prefer!). Of course, this means you'll also have the opportunity to ask us any questions that you may have about Rip Them Off, Swim Out, or game development in general.

Rip Them Off is a minimalistic new puzzle game of economic management and tower defense. An easy to pick up but hard to master challenge, created with love and passion by this husband-and-wife team.
Several months of intensive economic simulation got us a bit wicked and there's still lots of work to do, so may you have any comments or questions... even answers… feel free to head to the game’s Steam page and leave them there on the Community Hub, we want them all!
And don't forget to Rip them Offfff... Oh, you'll have to wait until the 24th of September to invoke your own inner schmuck so until then, don't forget to "Wishlist them all!” and follow us here on Steam. We think that all fans of Swim Out will enjoy this one too!
