Video game publisher THQ Nordic says it will celebrate its 10th anniversary by announcing six new games, including new installments in "legendary franchises" that apparently "fans have been waiting decades" for. Well!
The reveals will be made in the company's first ever digital showcase event, to be broadcast on 17th September at 8pm UK time (that's 5pm Eastern, or 12pm Pacific).
This showcase will be fronted by Geoff Keighley - who else? - and be shown on YouTube, Twitch and Steam (no word yet on 8chan).

Both fighters begin with a variety of different attacks but will gain access to more devastating and fascinating ways to smash demons on their journey through hell. "Creature Cores" can be picked up afters slaying enemies and bosses and are also available for purchase at Vulgrim's store in exchange for souls.

The "Creature Core"-system allows the player to shift the balance between the different playstyles of WAR and STRIFE. Would you like to increase your attack power or add a lava trail to your dashes? Would you like a chance to spawn a hellhound whenever you attack or do you want to increase the amount of health & ammunition your enemies will drop?
Tailor your characters abilities to match your personal playstyle with the "Creature Core"-system.
Darksiders Genesis features the debut of the fourth and final horsemen – STRIFE – who battles alongside his brother and fellow horsemen WAR in the first ever Darksiders two-player co-op mode. Solo players will be able to alternate between STRIFE and WAR on the fly, taking advantage of STRIFE’s ranged and WAR’s melee style attacks. Both characters can build up a special attack meter that, when activated, temporarily turns them into a colossal creature that leaves epic destruction in its wake.
Darksiders Genesis is currently in development for PC, Google Stadia and all current-gen console platforms. The PC and Google Stadia versions of Darksiders Genesis will release on December 5, 2019. The console versions will release on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2020.

It’s Gamescom this week, which can only mean one thing – more confirmed ray tracing games for Nvidia’s RTX and selected GTX 16-series graphics cards. Indeed, the big one that’s just been announced is Minecraft, which (like Quake II RTX) is getting full, real-time ray tracing support for everything from water reflections to its entire lighting system. That’s not all, though. Dying Light 2 will also be getting real-time ray tracing, while Tencent’s freshly-announced action survival game Synced: Off-Planet will be getting ray-traced reflections and shadow support.
In truth, the number of games on this list that you can actually play with ray tracing enabled right this second is still pretty small. A lot of the confirmed RTX games you’ll see below still haven’t received their promised ray tracing and performance-boosting DLSS support, so this is more of a complete ‘this is how many games will have it eventually’ kind of thing than ‘these are all the games you can play with ray tracing right now’. Still, if you’re currently on the fence about buying one of Nvidia’s RTX or RTX Super graphics cards as opposed to the new AMD Navi GPUs, this guide should hopefully help you decide whether ray tracing is something worth investing in. THQ Nordic's spending spree continues. After buying Kingdom Come: Deliverance developer Warhorse Studios and Gothic developer Piranha Bytes earlier this year it's now opened its wallet for Gunfire Games, the studio behind Darksiders 3 and shooter Remnant From the Ashes, which comes out next week.
Gunfire Games and its 63-strong development team will remain an "independent development studio under THQ Nordic", the publisher said. "The team will...[have] full creative freedom and maintained relationships with current publishing partners. Gunfire will continue to be led by CEO David Adams and all active founders will remain in their current roles," it said.
"Through the acquisition THQ Nordic adds a strong team of RPG experts and award-winning VR developers with an existing intellectual property IP portfolio and an exciting new game pipeline." In addition to Darksiders 3, Gunfire is known for its VR games, which include the excellent third-person action-RPG Chronos.
The publisher did not disclose the purchase price, but said it expects to recoup its investment within three to four years as Gunfire releases more games.
THQ Nordic published Darksiders 3 and acquired the rights to the Darksiders franchise in 2013 when publisher THQ went bankrupt, so the deal isn't a huge shock.
Gunfire Games' Adams said: “Having worked together on the development of Darksiders, we are confident that becoming part of THQ Nordic is a great next step for Gunfire. I believe that the experience and publishing capabilities of THQ Nordic will be important in supporting our growth journey and enabling us to continue doing what we love—making great games. We are excited to continue working together going forward.”
On the same day it announced the deal, THQ Nordic also revealed it planned to change its name to Embracer Group in September. Embracer Group will be the name of the parent company, which three operating groups beneath it: Koch Media/Deep Silver, Coffee Stain and THQ Nordic GmbH.

Keepers of the Void Features:
• New Weapons: Unlock an alternate weapon for each of the Hollows by defeating the 4 bosses found in the Void.
• Abyssal Armor: Defeat the final boss of the Void to unlock the Abyssal Armor.
• New Enhancements: a whip focused enhancement and cross blade focused enhancement are hidden somewhere in the void.
• Hollow Weapon Switch: Option to allow quick switching between a hollow’s two weapon forms has been added, it is off by default. It can be turned on in the options.
Non-DLC related features:
• Nightmare mode option: How good are you at the game? Care to put that to the test? Dying once will delete your save. Proceed with caution.
• Arcane Shards: Arcane shards can now be purchased from Vulgrim.
• Hollow themed armor: 4 new color variants of Fury’s base armor, each themed after a specific Hollow with a boost to the specific Hollow’s damage output. Available from Vulgrim after receiving related Hollow.
• Hollow Counter switch: After successfully executing a perfect dodge, activating a Hollow Form will trigger it’s Arcane Counter.
Bug Fixes:
• Shade: Shade’s Damage reduction was not working correctly, issue has been addressed and the number will appear lower than it previously was, but now works correctly.
• BFA: Fixed issue with BFA Achievement not unlocking correctly.

During THQ Nordiq's ill-fated 8Chan AMA, an image was uploaded by an employee of the company showing a list of games to be shown at E3 in June. On the list was Destroy All Humans and Darksiders: Genesis.

All DLC progression will be reset upon starting a new Armageddon Mode, and must be unlocked again naturally in the new playthrough. All rewards and tokens will carry over into the new game.
