This entire update stems from us having no impulse control and running with every dumb idea that crosses our minds.
We were debating about what incentive we could provide for folks to fully level up ooblets without goofing with the dance battle balancing, and it came down to either a congratulatory “got-to-level-10” hat they could wear orrrr…
OOBMOBILES!
We picked oobmobiles. Now your ooblets can ride around in little cars!!!
It took a lot of fiddly work but the results are better than we could have hoped for. Way better than a lousy hat.
There are some barriers to getting your ooblets driving though:
You need to have unlocked the *Dept. of Ooblet Vehicles* (DOV) which is related to the “Mystery Door in Town Hall” Tinstle Task available after reaching a player level of 5. It should become available a day after that’s completed (you’ll get mail about it)
Your ooblets need to be level 10 to get a license
It costs a lot of gummies to get a license (currently 800 but that may change)
We also tweaked the ooblet level requirements so it won’t take as long to get to level 10 and gain access to oobmobiles, but still keeps it a fun longer-term goal.
You can also buy oobmobiles at the kiosk in the DOV regardless of whether or not you have any ooblets that are licensed, but you won’t be able to equip them on ooblets until they’re licensed. Currently, we have a kiosk that picks a different random oobmobile to be available each in-game day. During events, there might be a special event oobmobile kiosk that does the same for event-specific oobmobiles. And speaking of which:
Halloween Oobmobiles are available for a limited time!
(depending on when you’re reading this)
While the Halloween Event is running, you’ll be able to snag some unique spooky oobmobiles from the Halloween oobmobile kiosk in the DOV. The oobmobile available will change each in-game day.
If you haven’t leveled any ooblets up to 10 yet, you can still stock up on the event oobmobiles (if you can afford them) to save for when you do have licensed oobs. And if you miss the event oobmobiles, they’ll be back next year! And we absolutely cannot condone you fiendishly modifying your system clock to trick our poor gullible game into thinking it’s still Halloween!

However, that particular book has now finally been closed, as the game arrives on Valve's platform, runs "really well" on Steam Deck, and you can even transfer your save over if you want to keep your progress.

Quirky indie farming sim slash dance battler Ooblets is offering a "hefty" 40% discount on Steam this week to celebrate its launch on the storefront, following the end of the game's Epic Games Store exclusivity on PC.
Playing like a mix of Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons, and Pokémon, Ooblets sees you grow the titular critters in your garden before siccing them on each other in battle. However, since this is the very definition of a cosy game, said battles are firmly non-violent, non-contact affairs involving friendly card-based dance-offs.
Ooblets is, frankly, a ludicrously twee game, made charming by the fact that its tongue is lodged firmly in its cheek on the subject of its own quaintness. The Steam launch coincides with the return of the game's annual Halloween event, which runs until November 15th and this year includes both new and returning seasonal content.

Our big new Halloween Event just started and is running until at least Nov 15th so you’ll have plenty of time to do and collect all the spooky things!
Keep an eye out for our upcoming v1.4 Oobmobiles Update that’s launching soon and be sure you’ve joined our email club and discord to be notified when that and other important things happen!
Thanks!
We’re so incredibly proud of everyone on our team and all the folks who have worked with us over the years. Ooblets represents many people’s astonishing hard work, creativity, humor, personality, individuality, care, and love—and we hope that shines through when you play it.

If you’re new to Ooblets, there are A LOT of things to do but no pressure to do them in any rush. If you get stuck, run into a bug, or find something confusing, join our discord and we’ll be happy to help.
If you’re already an Ooblets player and it’s been a while since you’ve played, there are so many new things we’ve added through past updates, and the game is continuing to get new content updates, like:
The v1.3 Halloween Event Update
Which will be live when the game launches on Steam, so there will be loads of event stuff to do and collect.
Here’s what’s in store for the event:
🪦 Badgetown’s got a huge spooky makeover
🧛 The townsfolk have costumes!
👻 There’s a brand new event-limited ooblet
🔮 An awful lot of new clothes/accessories/furniture/decor items you can get from making potions
🍂 Colors and lighting have been tweaked to make everything feel more autumnal
🦴 There are new event collectables and an interesting way to find them (consider a mix between licorice sticks and dowsing rods…)
🍬 AND we’re bringing back trick-or-treabie-ing along with the previous year’s Halloween collectables in case anyone missed them (also the Nullwhere riddles are back!)
The 2023 Halloween Event will run from Oct 1st through mid-November, but it may get extended depending on how festive everyone is feeling.
It’s going to be interesting to see new players starting out during a Halloween event. The game is weird enough normally, but Halloween takes it all a bit further.

But, never fear! Indescribably adorable farmy-dancy-dressy-uppy simulation gameOoblets is getting a whole new region for Halloween, and according to the Ooblets Twitter account, it won't just be a limited-time seasonal update, either.
"Anyone else hyped for Halloween Month?," Ooblets developer Glumberland recently asked on Twitter, before sharing a short clip and a couple of screenshots from the 0.4 Nullwhere update. From the shots, it looks like a gloriously Ooblets twist on what you might think as a traditional Halloween region. We spotted some effervescent swamps, gnarled trees, and tiny ghost lads that might be spooky if they could stop being adorable for a few seconds. They can't.
A few users have asked whether the content will be limited-time. Good news: It absolutely won't. In the comments to the Twitter thread, the dev confirmed the update will "stick around" past Halloween itself.
