We're super excited to finally reveal the 6 winning maps following the Reforged Realms map contest earlier this year! The roster is absolutely incredible, and we did our best to bring them as visually close to official maps as possible via new landscaping tech, new shaders and updated lighting. All 6 maps are now available to play in-game! 🗺️

In addition, we've added 15 structures, 18 materials and 2 secret props to discover, as well as releasing our brand new Witch It website! Read on for more details... ⬇️

🦴 Moody Town

Sneak into Moody Town, a reforge of Sleeping Rose Cemetery. Explore this prehistoric-industrial landscape where something seems to have gone terribly wrong. Hide amongst the toxic pools and disturbing architecture, but be aware - the entire underground is inaccessible (for reasons we fear to discover), limiting your hiding options. Get creative with your hiding spots and use the verticality of the architecture to your advantage! 🧗

Moody Town was created by distortion, marking their first ever win as a Grand Architect.

Well done for creating a spectacular reforge! 🏆

🦈 Reef of the Drowned Potato

Wade through the Reef of the Drowned Potato, a reforge of The Chummy Potato. Tour through the familiar streets now contained within a huge aquarium, and hide beside the sealife that call it home. Possess the floating fish to stay undetected, and scout all the new shortcuts and tunnels to make a quick escape. Keep an eye out for the monstrous shark circling overhead; it (probably) won't bite, right? 👀

Reef of the Drowned Potato was created by Obscura, securing their second win as a Grand Architect.

Such incredible effort and ambience, well done! 🏆

🏰 Sunset Halls

No word describes Sunset Halls better than extravagant! Located in the upper floor of Ebonwhite Castle, these luxurious rooms are filled with glorious riches, trinkets and treasures that would make even the richest hunters envious. Each room is dense with props, providing witches with countless hiding opportunities. Gates and hidden passages can be opened between the rooms - open them as a witch to maximise your escape options, or close them as a hunter to deny witches an easy getaway! 🧙‍♀️

Sunset Halls was created by Venena, their first ever win as a Grand Architect.

⭐ Useful Tip: Stand on these pressure pads near gates to open them. Be aware that you will have to transform from a prop back into a witch to use these! You can also find hidden switches nearby to invert the gate logic - this will cause the light of the gate to glow red. Use this information for a strategic advantage! 🔒

🎢 The Luaq Park

Step right up... The Luaq Park is now open for business! Rollercoaster Island has reopened under new management, with plenty of surprises waiting inside. Check out the wide variety of attractions scattered around the park, and equip Power Ball as a hunter to ride the coaster! If you're not a fan of fast rides, take shelter in the haunted house or try your luck at the carnival games. Grab your ticket and join the fun! 🎟️

The Luaq Park was created by Farbenkeks, earning their 3rd win as a Grand Architect!

☃️ Snowstorm at Morgenstund

Ever wondered what Morgenstund might look like in the Winter? Wonder no more; Snowstorm at Morgenstund transforms our beloved village into a frosty wonderland! Hunt and hide in familiar locations from the original, or make use of the previously inaccessible areas that have now opened up, revealing strategic escape routes. Don't forget to wrap up warm! 🧣

Snowstorm at Morgenstund was created by fri., his 3rd win as a Grand Architect.

🌴 The Tower Out Of Oblivion

Set on a sun-soaked cove, The Tower Out Of Oblivion is equal parts tropical retreat and unsolved mystery; nobody quite knows what the tower in the middle was used for when it was known as The Tower Into Oblivion, but it sure does make for an excellent witch hunting ground! Use the pipes to traverse around the map unseen, or disappear among the vines that cling to the rocky cliffs. 🌿

The Tower Out Of Oblivion was created by kas, their 1st win as a Grand Architect!

18 New Materials and New Tileable Ground Shape

Creating round structures and maps can be frustrating, especially when limited to square tiles, so we're introducing a round tileable ground shape to make this process much easier! ⭕

Both square and round tileable grounds now have 14 new materials:

🪨 5 basic paving stone / cobblestone materials materials tinted for different themes.

🌱 9 mixed materials overlaid with dirt, grass, sand and puddles.

There are now 2 liquid materials for puddles: one translucent water material, and a greenish, toxic-looking, flowing substance. 💧

In addition, there are now 2 new branch leaves: besides green and snow-covered leaves, you can now also choose between two materials featuring autumn leaves. 🍂

2 New Secret Props

Without spoiling too much, the 2 new secret props can be found on maps similar to the ones featured in Prop Sumo: Dream Valley Castle (Castle), Shard of Wiqqarra (Desert), Shipwreck Hollow (Cave), Morgenstund (Treeshroom), and Morgaryll Forest (Witch Forest)! 🍄

Seek them out and add them to your prop collection! 🔎

Summer Festival Returns!

Remember all the way back in 2017 when we hosted our summer event? What a year! ☀️

We're excited to bring the festival spirit back once again! During the event, you can earn "Starfish" and craft summer items while the event lasts! 🩳

The Summer Festival will end on July 22th, 6pm CEST.

How do I obtain Summer items?

Opening Witch It during the Summer Festival event will grant you 30 "Sand Castles"! A Sand Castle contains a random Summer item, which can only be opened by combining them with "Starfish". ⭐

To earn Starfish, fill up the Item Cauldron with 250 experience points. You can see the item cauldron fill up at the end of the round, on the level up screen.

Starfish have a 60% chance of being earned on any Official server once the item cauldron is filled. If you're lucky enough to earn one, head back to the main menu and press 'Summer Festival' to combine it with a Sand Castle! 🏖️

Every Summer item earned through Sand Castles are tradable and craftable even after the event is over. If you use up all your Sand Castles, you can craft more by combining 5 Starfish together!

Note: Starfish can only be obtained in Official servers.

You can also receive summer items through:

Random drops from filling up the item cauldron at the end of a round.
Crafting summer recipes in the witches' cauldron.
Trading with other players (we recommend using our Discord server to find traders).

How do I obtain CNY items?

Opening Witch It during the Chinese New Year 2026 event will grant you 30 "Fireworks"!
A Firework contains a random Chinese New Year item (including CNY items from previous years), which can only be opened by combining them with "Gunpowder". 💥

To earn Gunpowder, fill up the Item Cauldron with 250 experience points. You can see the item cauldron fill up at the end of the round, on the level up screen.

Gunpowder has a 50% chance of being earned on any Official server once the item cauldron is filled. If you're lucky enough to earn one, head back to the main menu and press 'Chinese New Year' to combine it with a Firework! 🎆

Every Chinese New Year item earned through Fireworks is tradable and craftable even after the event is over. If you use up all your Fireworks, you can craft more by combining 5 Gunpowder together!
Note: Gunpowder can only be obtained in Official servers.

Welcome to Reforged Realms, our 5th Official Map Contest!

🗺️ Theme

Reforged Realms - You must redesign an existing map in a new theme, atmosphere, or context!

In this contest, we're challenging you to redesign an existing map you have previously created, or one of Witch It's default maps! 🧙‍♀️

The original layout must serve as a foundation, but the final result should feel familiar, yet different - with a new visual theme, mood, identity or story.

We encourage you to preserve recognisable elements of the original map, so that players can immediately understand it's transformation.

Take creative risks, reframe how the original space is experienced, and perhaps consider opening up new paths, opportunities and stories that weren't available in the original maps!

Reforging can be interpreted in countless different ways.

Maybe you're introducing a new weather event, drastically altering the mood of the map, or reforging it into a different time period.

What if your map was abandoned, reclaimed, or repurposed over time? Or what if the same layout existed in a completely different reality?

Whatever your idea is, be creative and have fun! 🤩

Bring together your best ideas and pick one of the two options:

1️⃣ Redesign any Barrel Roll Games Official map!

2️⃣ Redesign a workshop map that you previously uploaded to Steam (no stealing)!

Note: Featured maps can only be reforged by their original creators!

🥇 Main Prize | Official Implementation

As always, we plan to implement multiple winning submissions into Witch It as Featured Maps, which can be played on both official and custom servers.

No specific number of winners is determined, but the winning maps will replace a number of previously featured maps.

All winning maps will receive baked lighting, and will be played by thousands of players in the years to come! 🌍

Each contributor in a winning map will also receive:

By participating, you are agreeing that we can use your creation as an official featured map in Witch It.

⚠️ Theme Rules

🔸 You can build on any map template or within your previously-uploaded workshop maps.

🔸 You are allowed to use empty templates for more structural freedom, but the drawback is that you will lose structural elements that resemble the default map. Consider rebuilding these elements if you're attempting to use empty templates!

🔸 The prop layout of your map doesn't need to match an Official prop layout. Make sure your prop layouts are suitable and well-balanced.

🔸 You can only reforge Official maps (created by Barrel Roll Games), or a workshop map you have uploaded before 19th December 2025. We will check upload dates!

🔸 Featured maps and workshop maps can only be reforged by the original map creators!

🔸 You must add a link to the original workshop map in the description of your entry (if it's an Official map, just include the name).

🔸 If you want to reforge a workshop map you made with other collaborators, you must give them the opportunity to collaborate with you on your reforged entry (or ask for permission to work alone).

This is to ensure every creator is properly credited and considered.

🌐 World Properties were added back in May, allowing you to configure light, fog, and music. World properties are not a requirement, but if you want to alter these visual configurations, you'll need to use an empty template map such as "town day", "desert sunset" or any blank map. If you use these, please consider the player's visibility levels - powerful configurations like sky light or fog can look interesting, but might result in frustrating gameplay!

⚠️ General Rules

🔸 You can submit as many maps as you want, but remember: quality over quantity.

🔸 You can either make your map solo, or collaborate with up to 3 other creators - all creators must be marked a contributor on your workshop item!

🔸 You cannot enter using other creator's maps that you are not an original contributor on (we will check for stolen work).

🔸 Offensive/NSFW content is strictly prohibited!

🔸 All users can enter, including Grand Architect and staff members. Users with ongoing bans are not eligible to win.

🔸 Absolutely no AI-generated content (for graphics/screenshots/lore).

🔸 Switches are allowed in maps.

🔸 Please avoid using out-of-bounds water in playable areas of your maps.

⚖️ Fairness Rule: One creator cannot win the main prize twice in a single map contest - only your best map will be chosen, the rest will not be eligible! This rule does not apply to our additional awards. Collaborative maps are included in this fairness rule, so feel free to submit a separate solo entry if you'd like!

🚫 Breaking these rules may result in disqualification from the contest!

💡 Advice

🔄 Swapping Templates

If you're reforging a workshop map you created, you could use a useful trick discovered by fri allowing you to change the map template (and therefore the default lighting and atmosphere).

Locate your map file in %appdata% > Local > WitchIt > Saved > SaveGames, and copy it to another map template folder of your choice.

If you don't have all the map template folders, open the one you want in Creative Mode then it save - the folder will appear!

This trick is unofficial and isn't guaranteed to work well for all maps, so please create a backup in case something goes wrong.

📕 Balance Your Map

Since you're working mostly within the confines of existing maps, the balancing is almost done for you already!

However, please consider the amount of props in your map, and how easy it is to navigate around your layout.

Do the witches have plenty of hiding options? Can hunters check for witches efficiently?

For those working on reforged workshop maps - please build small.

If your reforged workshop map is bigger than Morgenstund, you're probably building too big.

We cannot stress this enough - a beautiful map is worthless to us if it's too big.

📙 Playtesting Is Key

Round up your friends (or even other entrants) to test your maps thoroughly.

A great looking map will be not be approved if the gameplay mechanics are inconsistent or broken.

Watch out for things such as stairs that don't work, ladders that can't be climbed, doorways that are too small.

Switches are permitted, but not necessary for most maps.

📒 Optimise Your Maps

Optimise your prop and utility use to ensure your map is smooth to run.

A well optimised map often has less than 500 props, any amount of structures, no utilities stacked on top of each other (e.g multiple lights in one position), and no unstable frozen props that jump away erratically when touched.

If you are building in a map containing out-of-bounds water, the physics of the water does not work properly and therefore should be avoided in playable areas of your maps.

📗 Broken Hiding Spots

Combining structures together can occasionally lead to small gaps which props can fit into.

Often, this happens with world boundaries, rocks, and ice structures - but can easily be avoided by vigorously checking intersections of structures (don't forget: playtest!).

Even just one small gap in a structure may break your map, as witches can use these areas to avoid hunters with no risk.

Please keep this in mind during and after the creation of your entry.

📘 Gamemode Compatibility

Your map must be compatible with Hide & Seek, Mobification and Hunt a Hag.

Please consider using a variety of props and gameplay options for both teams, and take into account the skills each team may use.

🗓️ Deadline

We are closing entries on Wednesday, 18th February 2026 (midday, 12:00pm UTC)!

You are allowed to make minor updates to your maps after the deadline, such as fixing errors or exploits. Large-scale changes after the deadline, such as redesigning areas of your map, is not permitted. Doing so may affect your chances of winning.

Once the contest ends, we will take time reviewing every entry and deciding on the winners, which will be revealed shortly after. 🏆

Introducing new Winterdream skins, the Winterdream 2025 player icon, a long-awaited event ingredient drop change, more skin slots, quality of life improvements and more!

2 New Winterdream Items!

Two brand-new seasonal skins have been added to Winterdream, including the Sweet Tooth Luaq for hunters, and Santa's Little Sweeper for witches! 🍬

Events have now been changed so that event ingredients can now be earned on any map in an Official server. To learn more, read on!

How do I obtain Winterdream items?

Opening Witch It during the Winterdream 2025 event will grant you 40 "Filled Boots"!

A Filled Boot contains a random Winterdream item (including Winterdream items from previous years), which can only be opened by combining them with "Cinnamon Star". ⭐

To earn Cinnamon Stars, fill up the Item Cauldron with 250 experience points. You can see the item cauldron fill up at the end of the round, on the level up screen.

Cinnamon Stars have a 60% chance of being earned on any Official server once the item cauldron is filled. You can earn cinnamon stars on any map! If you're lucky enough to earn one, head back to the main menu and press 'Winterdream Festival' to combine it with a Filled Boot!

Winterdream 2025 items have a 20% chance of being crafted when combining a star and a boot. Every Winterdream 2025 item earned through Filled Boots are tradable and craftable even after the event is over. If you use up all your Filled Boots, you can craft more by combining 5 Cinnamon Stars together! 🥾 Note: Cinnamon Stars can only be obtained in Official servers.

You can also receive the new items through:

- Random drops from filling up the item cauldron at the end of a round.

- Trading with other players (we recommend using our Discord server to find traders).

Winterdream 2025 Icon!

Unwrap the gorgeous new "Winterdream 2025" player icon, available for a limited time! 🐔

Play at least one round of Witch It in an Official server during the Winterdream 2025 event to earn the icon, but be quick - the item will never return once the event is over!

Winterdream DLC Sets!

A quick reminder that the premium Winterdream sets are available all year around via our DLC page!

Quality of Life!

Increased Skin Slots:

You now have 50 skin slots for each team, because somehow 20 wasn't enough! 🧣

In total, you can now store 50 witch skin sets and 50 hunter skin sets.

Select Prop Layouts:

When creating a custom match, you can now select a specific layout for the currently selected map.

This feature only works on maps with multiple prop layouts. 🗺️

Custom FPS Limit:

You can now set your FPS limit to any value between 30 and 240. 🏃

We know it's been quiet from our side these past months, and we're truly grateful for your patience during this time. A whole lot has happened behind the scenes, but we won't keep you waiting this long again. Rest assured, we've been hard at work on planning Witch It's future updates, preparing for the release of Prop Sumo, and working on our next major project which we will talk about today.

Witch It

Next year marks Witch It's 10th year of development, and we're really proud of how far our game has evolved! Over the years, we've welcomed over 3.5 million players, and it's truly incredible seeing our community so active to this day. 💜

We've heard your calls for updates regarding long-standing community suggestions and quality of life improvements. Next year, this will be our primary focus for Witch It updates alongside seasonal events.

We're first looking into long-requested quality of life features like being able to pick custom quantities for ingredient crafting, and adding search bars in places where finding things can be difficult (such as locating custom maps and browsing your inventory). We're also exploring QoL improvements to Creative Mode, as well as adding missing props and utilities that you have asked for in the past.

Events are also receiving a much needed update, starting as soon as next week by making event ingredients obtainable on all maps, and next year we will trial reintroducing classic event formats (such as summer chests). Following this, we will continue to look into your suggestions and do what we can to improve Witch It in the areas that need it most! 🔧

Prop Sumo

Back in July, we ran our first playtest for our second game Prop Sumo, and we really appreciate all your in-depth feedback and support so far! 🥊

From your feedback, we discovered that Prop Sumo had a slight identity crisis, sitting somewhere between a technical fighter and a casual party game. As a result, we've made some significant changes to the game's feel, opting for a light-hearted party approach over a combo-heavy fighting game.

Next week, we will be launching our second playtest for everyone to try! In this playtest, we have replaced prop modifiers and power-ups with 22 unique items that you can pick up within each arena. The items you obtain will be based on your position in the scoreboard, which we hope will result in more exciting matches and fairer gameplay.

We're curious to hear what you think about these changes and provide us with feedback in the coming weeks before we prepare for the full release!

Project 3

Earlier this year while working on Prop Sumo, we were awarded a grant for our next major title... and we're proud to announce that it's been in full production for the past few months! 🏗️

We're not ready to talk much about our new project just yet, so we'll leave you with this:

8 New Skin Items!

Creep out your friends with the "Two-faced Gravekeeper" and "Dark Coat of the Gravekeeper" cosmetics for the Witch, or blend into the coven with the "Witchy Set" for the Hunter, complete with a shroom projectile and broom melee weapon! 🧙‍♀️🍄

How do I obtain Halloween 2025 items?

Opening Witch It during the Halloween 2025 event will grant you 40 "Gloomkins"! A Gloomkin contains a random Halloween item (including Halloween items from previous years), which can only be opened by combining them with "Haunted Candy". 🍬

To earn Haunted Candies, fill up the Item Cauldron with 250 experience points. You can see the item cauldron fill up at the end of the round, on the level up screen.

Haunted Candy has a 60% chance of being earned on any Official server once the item cauldron is filled, but must be earned on specific Halloween maps: Sleeping Rose Cemetery, Cursed Ruins, Grunewald Library or Grave Gulch. If you're lucky enough to earn one, head back to the main menu and press 'Halloween Event' to combine it with a Gloomkin!

Every Halloween 2025 item earned through Gloomkins are tradable and craftable even after the event is over. Halloween 2025 items have a 30% chance to appear via event crafting. If you use up all your Gloomkins, you can craft more by combining 5 Haunted Candy together! 🍭 Note: Haunted Candy can only be obtained in Official servers.

You can also receive the new items through:

- Random drops from filling up the item cauldron at the end of a round.

- Trading with other players (we recommend using our Discord server to find traders).

Halloween 2025 Player Icon!

Celebrate the spooky season with the limited time "Halloween 2025" player icon! 🔮

Play at least one round of Witch It in an Official server during the Halloween 2025 event to earn the icon, but don't miss out - the icon will never return once the event is over! 🕷️

Sorcerer's Spire!

Sorcerer's Spire is a mystical new map set in a spectacular observatory. It's what happens when you mix the fantastical world of Dream Valley Castle with the chaos of Twisted House! 💫

Explore the observatory - a once serene place now unleashed with magical chaos! Hunt and hide amongst the sorcerer's tools and tomes, or take flight on one of the flying books circling the central orrery! 📖

Drop down the centre of the spire to find a huge spiral staircase, and if you're brave enough - enter the portal at the bottom to see where it takes you! 🌀

Prop Sumo is a physics-driven fighting game that pits ordinary props together in extraordinary battles. Your goal in Prop Sumo is to be the last prop standing - brawl your opponents with a mixture of different melee moves, combo attacks, and ultimate abilities! 💣

In Prop Sumo, you can shape your playstyle with wild prop modifiers that transform your ultimate ability in powerful ways! For example: pair the beehive prop with the cannonball ultimate to create a huge explosion that covers your opponents screen in a swarm of bees! Or pair the mandrake with the wrecking ball ultimate to snare your opponents to the ground and crush them! 💥

There are over 100+ ultimate-modifier combinations that you can experiment with to find the most powerful build! ☄️

Back in November, we launched Castle Catastrophe, Witch It's 4th map contest! Following the release of 200+ new creative mode structures and material overrides, participants now had more creative options than ever while building their contest entries. 🏰

"Castle Catastrophe" was the contest theme - participants were tasked with creating a castle-themed map that has been struck by a disaster. Map creators had the freedom to interpret this theme however they like, while remaining true to it's core intent. As a result, we had received arguably our most unique, diverse, and incredible selection of entries we've ever had the privilege of judging! 🤯

Each winning map is now implemented into Witch It and playable on the official Servers.

Each winning map will be implemented into Witch It in our next content update in the following weeks. Each winner will shortly receive the Grand Architect's Helmet, a Witch It Steam Key, two DLC sets of their choice, their name added to the description of a Creative Mode structure (revealed soon), and the outstanding "Grand Architect" title within our community! 🌟

We decided these winners based on a range of different factors. For us, it was important each winning map was visually pleasing and unique from other entries, but a primary factor for us was ensuring each map was suitable to be played on for potentially thousands upon thousands of rounds! Map size was a paramount factor in judging, and while many entrants made beautiful maps, only a select few creators really got the balance between aesthetics and gameplay just right. In addition, we had introduced a rule that meant an individual person could not take multiple winning spots in Castle Catastrophe - which we felt gave new creators an opportunity to shine through... and that they did! 🏆
