This update is the same as v1.30.1b, but has been taken out of beta. This version was in beta due to a restructure of the save game system. We have tested this internally and externally, but we advise backing up your saved games before using this version as a precaution.

Fixed issue where previous save games could sometimes fail to be cleared when a new save was created, causing many unloadable save files to appear in the load menu
Fixed issue with unloadable saves being displayed on load screen in some situations

This update includes a number of fixes and performance improvements, to generally improve the stability of the game. Saving and loading is now faster, as is game startup, the progress of which is now shown by a loading bar on the splash screen. The installed size of the game has also been reduced, without compromising in-game visual and audio quality.

Changed backend of database loading to prevent memory allocation crash which was occurring on game startup for some users

We’ve just released the Refresh Update for Need to Know, featuring a streamlined start to the game, dozens of usability updates, and all of the changes and fixes we’ve made since release.
For this update, we’ve focused mainly on structural amendments, particularly in Clearance Level 10. Some story elements have been repositioned, including the opening prologue and some early scenes. Our goals are to get you into gameplay quickly, space out the early story development, and allow you to advance to a higher difficulty level earlier. However, no missions have been removed, simply relocated to different points in the story, or made optional.
Home missions now have a lock-out deadline, so you’ll face a (forgiving) time pressure to make the experience a little more intense. We have also made several usability improvements, such as making it easier to skip the PeepR tutorials.
We’ve made an effort to ensure all existing save games will work with these changes, so please let us know if you experience any issues! As always, thanks so much for your continued feedback and bug reports. If you have any bug reports or suggestions to make - you can also visit this board to post them.

We’ve been working on some structural changes for this update, particularly in Clearance Level 10. Some story elements have been repositioned, including the opening prologue and some early scenes. Our goals are to get you into gameplay quickly, space out the early story development, and allow you to advance to a higher difficulty level earlier. However, no missions have been removed, simply relocated to different points in the story, or made optional.
Home missions now have a lock-out deadline, so that you’ll now face a (forgiving) time pressure to make the experience a little more intense. As usual, we have also made several usability improvements, such as making the PeepR tutorials more easily skippable.
We’ve made an effort to ensure all existing save games will work with these changes, and while we haven’t encountered any issues with this, it’s possible that some saves in CL10 might load in slightly the wrong place - this is why the update is currently in beta, so please let us know if this happens!
