Recently, we announced our plans for the release of Gold Mining Simulator: Definitive Edition and the discount structure for our existing players. We’ve been closely following your comments and discussions.
💬 While some of you were excited about the direction we are heading, we also received a significant wave of criticism and dissatisfaction.
We still deeply believe that creating the Definitive Edition is the right and best decision for the future of the game. 🚀 It gives us entirely new technological possibilities and allows us to expand the title in ways that would be impossible on the old base game. However, we cannot and will not ignore the voice of our community, even when the criticism is harsh. 👂
Many of you have been with this franchise from the very beginning, even before our new team took over the studio. Your support over the years demands our full respect and concrete actions, not just empty words. 🤝
After careful consultation with Steam we decided to make a significant change. We are taking a step further regarding the pricing offer. 👇
💸 What is changing with the discounts?
❌ No more full DLC collection requirement: You do not need to own the Collector's Edition or the complete set of all 4 DLCs to receive the highest discount.
✅ The base game is enough: Anyone who owns just the base version of Gold Mining Simulator 1 will receive the full 90% discount on GMS: Definitive Edition! 🎉
⏳ Offer Duration (Pre-Order + Post-Launch)
There have been many questions about whether the 90% loyalty discount will be available on your accounts forever. The answer is no. Due to Steam's limitations, we were unable to negotiate a permanent, indefinite loyalty discount. 🛑
After careful consultation with Steam we decided to make a significant change. To give you as much time as possible to use this option, we have planned it as follows:
🛒 Pre-Order Period: The 90% discount for GMS1 owners will be active throughout the entire pre-order phase.
📅 Post-Launch Period: We perfectly understand that many of you don't want to pre-order blindly. Because of this, the 90% discount will remain active for 14 days after the official release. You will have plenty of time to check out reviews, watch gameplay videos, and read other players' opinions before making a decision to buy it at the same, maximally reduced price. 👀
🤝 Regarding Recent DLC Purchases
We are sorry for all the trouble. If you bought DLCs right after our previous announcement solely to get the 90% discount on the Definitive Edition and you now feel cheated, please do not hesitate to refund them on Steam. 💸 If your product is no longer eligible for a standard Steam refund, please contact us directly, and we will do our best to help you out. 📩
🚧 Moving Forward
We want to make things clear: We are reading what you write, and we know this isn't just about the discounts. As we explained in our previous video, creating GMS: Definitive Edition is a necessary step forward.
The old version of the game hit a technological wall. 🧱 The hardware limitations of some players, combined with the need to create a completely new port for current-gen consoles (previous-gen consoles simply cannot handle the new content anymore 🎮), made creating DE the absolute best option for the franchise's future.
That being said, we are analyzing your suggestions and the issues you've been complaining about. We don't want to promise anything right now, but if time permits and we manage to implement some of these community-requested changes, we will let you know in a future update. 🛠️
❓ FAQ
In response to the influx of questions, below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions so far:
What about the leaderboards?
Thanks to introducing the custom game system we plan to make the LB more interesting and focus only on Definitive Edition from now on (there will be one last LB in the original game to allow for a smooth transition)
Apart from a main community goal rewards we will leave the top 10 max gold & seasonal gold to honor the tradition.
Participating in the community goal will yield reward for everyone who contributed. The ones who reach top 10 will get 2 rewards.
There will be no DLC & non-DLC split, but ocasionally some DLCs might be turned off as part of the LB modifier
Will WV + DC be included in LB rotation?
Yes, all the parcels will be in the pool of starting LB parcels, including Waterfall Valley and Diamonds Creek
Will gems be on every parcel?
Yes! We plan to add a tiny bit of gems everywhere, but still Diamonds Creek will be a main place to find them.
Will skin rewards transfer to DE?
We can't promise that right now since we are still researching how to do that. If it's possible then we will try to make the transfer near release date.
Did you add dual joystick and steering wheel support?
No, the update targeted gameplay and performance oriented areas in the game.
Will this version have multiplayer?
No, we are not able to make it with our current team. It would take us few years which we prefer to spent making GMS2 with other cools stuff that weren't possible in GMS1.
What else did you fix in DE?
We fixed the excavators power issue while driving up hills, the performance related issues
