Yesterday, Xbox announced that they were spinning off five major studios in the course of the latest round of "historic" restructuring, with 1600 jobs instantly chopped and 1600 more layoffs to follow over the next financial year. It's the latest in a string of failures on the part of Xbox leadership, who have repeatedly butchered the division after an evidently overambitious acquisition spree that dates back to the 2010s. It has, at least, not yet resulted in any outright studio closures.
Double Fine and Compulsion are going indie again with a little funding from Microsoft, keeping ownership of their games. Ninja Theory and Undead Labs have been sold to unnamed new owners. And then there's Dishonored and Marvel's Blade developers Arkane, whose fate is still being negotiated.

Well, still no, probably, but Arkane Studios founder and Dishonored co-creator Raphaël Colantonio did recently say that he could at the very least see himself working on a follow-up.

In a pretty big leak of documents that have come from the FTC's court case with Microsoft , it's been revealed that Dishonored 3 is in the works. Back in 2018, developer Arkane said that Dishonored was " resting for now ," meaning it was moving on to develop other projects. That
In a pretty big leak of documents that have come from the FTC's court case with Microsoft, it's been revealed that Dishonored 3 is in the works.
Back in 2018, developer Arkane said that Dishonored was "resting for now," meaning it was moving on to develop other projects. That resting period appears to be over now, though, as over on Resetera it's been spotted that a series of documents revealing all sorts of confidential information from Microsoft has been leaked. This includes a lineup of games currently in the works at various Microsoft owned developers, and notably it mentions Dishonored 3 could be released in 2024.
Now, that should come with a big asterisk as it feels pretty unlikely that Arkane would announce and release a game all within such a short timeframe. Not only that, the document notes that Starfield and Redfall were planned to release in 2021, but both were initially announced as releasing in 2022, later being delayed to 2023. On top of that, the untitled Indiana Jones game was also slated for 2022 in the document, so it's probable that this document is a bit outdated.

After some speculation from fans, Deathloop director Dinga Bakaba confirmed that the game is in fact set in the same world as Dishonored.
Arkane's games all tend to have some similarities here and there, being one of the few big developers to actually make immersive simulators, but Deathloop and Dishonored obviously shared some DNA in more obvious ways. But according to Deathloop's director himself, the games are both in fact in the same world, something likely to please fans that have theorised as such.
Bakaba confirmed the connection on the most recent episode of the Xbox Podcast (thanks PCGamer), where he said that Deathloop is "one of the futures of the Dishonored world." Asked directly about the connection, Bakaba noted how due to the nature of the game not everyone will see the same thing, "so it was nice to see the community pick up the little clues that we did sprinkle everywhere that, yes, indeed, we envisioned Deathloop to be happening in the future after Death of the Outsider."

Seven-day speedrunning marathon Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 has ended, raising a brilliant $2,758,847 million (around £2 million) for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Occasionally, the best stealth games are their own thing, resulting from a developer channeling all the mechanics into the suspense and satisfaction of killing, stealing, and infiltrating unnoticed. Most of the time, though, stealth is just one of several ways to navigate a game, as you consciously opt for the path of the shadowy rogue or incisive assassin over more forceful approaches.
Nothing beats the thrill of doing things on the down low, which is why some of these are the best PC games. Stealth games highlight that neat joy of entering a space and leaving it unchanged except for the briefcase you need to extract or that one person who was your target now lying dead without anyone having noticed - the alarms going off at the precise moment you coolly walk away from the scene undetected.
