During 2025 we’ve officially celebrated our 10th anniversary as a studio, but during 2014 Christmas we did our very first holiday greeting card. In 2024 we wanted to pay a tribute to that very first festive illustration and we hid some easter eggs that we want to reveal today, as there aren't any spoilers anymore.
The most noticeable is the composition. In 2014, when only Nika existed, we had to make a personal appearance to complete the scene. Mariona and Javi to be precise. For 2024 Nika had been promoted to replace Javi and lifted Agatha as best as she could.
In 2024, as we hadn’t revealed Clem’s face in social networks yet (we did during her launch's first anniversary), we found a way to place her casually without showing her face. It wasn’t the right time, yet.
The tree ornaments in 2014 were just all MechaNika’s gears. Luckily, 10 years later we have more games under our belt and you can find all our games referenced. Can you spot them all?
And last, the star, the most special ornament, it’s also an easter egg. It’s an element of the Wand of the Eternal Smile from Angie Magica, our WIP game that we started precisely in 2024.
We hope you liked this end of the year’s post. If you feel like more mysteries and easter eggs, we can give you a last riddle. In the last room of CLeM, on some book spines, we hid a message connected to the game Tunic… Everything is connected.

Last week we announced this new project as the next Psychotic Adventure. Your support was amazing! And even though we tried to answer everyone, we were super focused on Angie's first public appearance at BCN Game Fest.
We had so much fun talking to everyone who passed by our booth to play the premiere demo, get some merch or just say hi.
Working in secret for more than a year was kinda hard, this is why we wanted to make this first appearance so special. For the occasion we prepared a lot of cool stuff. Let’s take a look!
We had this very clear vision that we absolutely needed a real life sized wand in our booth, so we decided to craft it. Jordi modeled a 3D version ready to print and with some coats of primer and paint made by Mariona, we got this amazing prop for all upcoming events.
Check out how it was “magically” appearing. It’s mesmerising.
We just crafted one single wand but, in case you also want to run around with your very own Wand of the Eternal Smile, we got you. This keychain version can be with you everyday, ready to unleash all your power to face any challenge that requires a little bit of magical girl energy.
Another cool thing we had was a TV with an early gameplay video of the game running during the event. A retro pink CRT TV with DVD player, how cool is that?
There was even more awesome content, but we don't want to overwhelm you with too many cool things at once. We are so grateful to every fan and new player who tested Angie Magica and shared their impressions with us. We can't express how happy you made us with your kind words about the art, characters, puzzles, cooking, combat and any other aspect of the demo.

Unlike other psychotic girls, she was fully designed and portrayed for the first time back in 2007. She waited patiently 8 years to be reborn again as a videogame character, the little blue haired butcher that you all know.
Today we celebrate 8 years since she reappeared as an interactive persona, showing you these 8 eras, 8 different Agathas. Paying homage to all the faces she showed us along these years, we prepared this stunnig collage.

Mango Protocol is part of our lives (a really big part, frankly!) and if we keep pushing the Psychotic Adventures it's because all the good things we found along the way. The journey hasn't been perfect, of course, but at the end of the day we just decide to stick to what makes us happy and keeps us going.

It's the year 1999. Alternative metal band KoRn releases their fourth album, “Issues,” featuring cover art depicting a torn rag doll on it. The album’s last promotional single, “Somebody Someone,” and its music video, released in 2000, features the band performing the song amidst some arthropods, like roaches, a spider, and a fly. Two years later, the band released a DVD compilation of music videos, interviews, and different behind-the-scenes clips. But, the twist was that once you put the disc on the DVD player, you would find yourself immersed in some kind of creepy escape room game, navigating through an apparently abandoned asylum and looking for hidden codes to unlock new videos in different locations.
A rag doll, arthropods, and an abandoned house. Sound familiar?
Well, fast forward to 2006, Mariona, now creative and art director in Mango Protocol, drew inspiration from listening to KoRn during those years to write a short and abstract story. In that story, she introduced a character based on the ragdoll from the "Issues" album cover. The narrative unfolded as the ragdoll explored around a house divided into concentric spaces, looking for insects to deliver to a girl who seemed to be working on some kind of obscure project.

While originally envisioned as a script for a puppetry-based short film, it wasn't until 2018 that the pieces fell into place. Mariona, along with Javi and Jordi, transformed her earlier ideas into the foundation for the fourth installment of the Psychotic Adventures saga: CLeM, a mystery puzzlevania adventure with a dark twist.
Javi started working on that original abstract story and, knowing Mariona for more than 14 years, distilled all the ideas and thoughts behind it and adapted it into something that could fit better with the team's vision for a narrative-driven puzzle game. Maintaining the dark essence and main elements from Mariona's initial script, he expanded it into a fully realized story that resonated even more personally with her. Meanwhile, Jordi, armed with this narrative blueprint, crafted the gameplay, designing a really wide range of environmental and self-contained puzzles, each intricately linked to the overarching story. Every puzzle is tightly connected with the narrative, so they always feel coherent with the story, the characters, and the world in the game. Mariona, on the other hand, reimagined all the visuals for the story, starting with the player character — the ragdoll. However, as it usually happens when Mariona starts doodling ideas, not many drafts are needed until the team falls in love with one of them.
We always wanted CLeM to be a cute and creepy experience, and Mariona knew that the ragdoll (that we call “the servant”) needed to have the “cute” element, with a tiny body but a big head, and a static but friendly face. Contemplating a few ideas for the inventory system, the concept of a zip on the nape of the servant’s head emerged as a practical solution since all items could be stored inside, which made a lot of sense and simplified the general design of the servant. It also allowed Jordi to add a nice animation to the zip puller while the servant is walking.
Lastly, Mariona still had many options for the eyes, the zip, maybe an eyebrow and some hair, and other details like patches or the actual colours for every part. Greenish, so they look more like a zombie? Brownish, so they somehow resemble the fabric of a potato sack? Well, during the first year of development we called that character “potato”, so you can guess which colours Mariona decided to go with.
And that's how our cute servant ended up looking how they do!
