Original postEarlier this month, NCSoft announced that it was shutting down WildStar developer Carbine Studios, and that support for the sci-fi MMO would be coming to an end. The publisher has now confirmed that WildStar's servers will be going offline permanently on November 28th.
"At launch, the Carbine team delivered a deep, engaging, and spectacularly fun game full of outlandish adventures on the most legendary planet in the universe," a new post on the WildStar website explained, "And it has been our great privilege to share those adventures with all of you over the last four years... Unfortunately, as you may have heard, those adventures are coming to an end. It's never easy to say goodbye to something, especially something that has meant so much for so many - but the WildStar game service will close on November 28, 2018."
Despite WildStar's looming demise, NCSoft says it plans "to do everything we can to honor the WildStar community" prior to servers shutting down. As confirmed when news of Carbine's closure broke, that will include offering refunds on all real money purchases made since July 1st this year, and on prepaid Signature Memberships that run past September 26th. More detailed information on those purchases eligible for a refund can be found in NCSoft's news post.

When Carbine first started working on what would become WildStar back in 2005, the team set out to make something special that presented a different kind of MMORPG experience. At launch, the Carbine team delivered a deep, engaging, and spectacularly fun game full of outlandish adventures on the most legendary planet in the universe. And it has been our great privilege to share those adventures with all of you over the last four years.
Unfortunately, as you may have heard, those adventures are coming to an end. It’s never easy to say goodbye to something, especially something that has meant so much for so many—but the WildStar game service will close on November 28, 2018.
From now until then we’re going to do everything we can to honor the WildStar community, and show thanks for your support. In an attempt to recognize your dedication and love for WildStar and for those of you who have come to call Nexus your home, here are our plans from now until the servers close:
Refunding Recent Purchases
- All real money purchases have been disabled on the website and in-game store.
- Refunds for the purchases will be processed by October 3, 2018.
- Real money purchases (including Protobucks, C.R.E.D.D., and Signature) made since July 1, 2018 will be refunded, and we will also process refunds for prepaid Signature Memberships that still have time remaining past September 26, 2018.
- C.R.E.D.D. that remains unused and where the account holder has been active within the last 90 days will have their C.R.E.D.D. converted into equivalent NCoin for each unit.
- C.R.E.D.D. that has been used to redeem Signature and where remaining active days extends beyond September 26, 2018 will be reimbursed in NCoin for each day remaining on a prorated basis.
- Steam purchases have been disabled, and all purchases made on or after July 1, 2018 will be reimbursed in full.
- Steam users who made purchases through Steam using funds from their Steam Wallet will have the funds returned to their Wallet.
- Steam users who used other payment methods will be issued refunds to their original payment method.
- If there are any issues, please contact the Steam Support team.
If you have any questions regarding refunds, or if your qualifying recent purchase was made with a non-refundable payment method, please read through our Sunset FAQ before contacting Customer Support.

Original postNCSoft has confirmed reports that it's shutting down WildStar developer Carbine Studios, and that support for the sci-fi MMO will come to an end.
In a statement provided to Kotaku, NCSoft said that it was closing Carbine Studios, as of September 7th, and that it was beginning the process of winding down WildStar in order to "ultimately shutter the game". The publisher noted that it was still identifying the teams that would be responsible for bringing WildStar to a close.
"These decisions are very difficult to make", it said, "and we are in the midst of shifting as many of our teammates as possible into other roles within the organization." NCSoft also confirmed that it would be refunding any purchases that WildStar players have made between July 1st this year and the date that the MMO's payment system is shut off.

During the event you can earn Elder Gems twice as fast to purchase items like Ability or AMP points. When you hit the weekly cap of 350 Elder Gems, your XP is converted to gold. It’s a good time to make good use of your time!
Don’t have any WildStar characters yet? The Double XP X-Plosion! event is the perfect time to start, and it’s completely free!

Madame Fay’s Frightful Fall Fortunes Resurrected!

Original postMadame Fay has been communing with otherworldly entities, ready with new Fortunes (her own special antiquities). Her latest commodities so prime for the season—the terrifying tale of Jack Shade is the reason. His legend lives on in your children’s own nightmares, but remember that Shade’s Eve is mostly just jump-scares. This terrible season isn’t so terrible at all, it’s really just a party we throw in the fall. And Madame Fay’s new items aren’t reserved for the zealous; collect costumes and mounts to make all your friends jealous!
But, if you’re not yet ready to embrace the occasion, you must grab old Fortunes first before the Shade’s Eve invasion. On the fourth of October your time will expire, as Madame Fay’s old Fortunes will finally retire. And she’ll have spooky new goodies for you to explore—ghastly costumes, décor, and oh so much more!
Don’t take these new rewards as just a seasonal fare, you can use them all-year-round! As long as the fashion police don’t care.
Returning are true bone-chilling mount variations, each for you to bring scares to any location. But combine the Skelocirex of copper, bone white, and chrome, and the ultra-rare tar version will be yours to take home. That’s four freaky flesh-less rides to score from the dear Madame, so stop reading these rhymes and go out there and get ‘em!

Original postYou’ve explored Nexus and beyond—now it’s time to come home. The next major WildStar content update, Homecoming, arrives Wednesday, September 6, and it offers players an assortment of new and updated activities!
Watch the official Homecoming game update trailer.
New Feature: Communities
You’ve invested impressive amounts of time and effort in designing rich, elegant living spaces to call home. And with Homecoming you’ll at last have the ability to find neighbors who can move into properties right next door! Collaborate together to build a vibrant and bustling Community—a massively expanded housing social feature that affords players the cosmic opportunity to relocate their homes to shared land.
New Event: Residential Renovation
Residential Renovation is a new in-game event that will run for one week every month. Pulling many of the rewards previously offered through Chase events, Residential Renovation will task players with a variety of largely housing-centric activities that yield stellar upgrades in home décor.
Residential Renovation will begin its inaugural run on September 15 at 10am PDT and last until 10am PDT on September 22—get ready for show time!
New Contest: Community Showdown
Get your sharpened pencils, tracing paper, and protractors at the ready. The Community Showdown is the preeminent competition for seasoned architects, landscapers, and interior designers to flaunt your elite skills and let vanity be thy true tape measure. But this isn’t your mama’s House of Haunts contest. This time, through the foundation of a Community, you’re in it to win it with a full five conjoined Housing plots fashioned to elegant perfection!
Registration is now open and will close at 11:59pm PDT on September 20. Before getting started, we highly recommend you read the Official Contest Rules.
New Prime Content
The Homecoming update once again expands the amount of Prime content available to battle-hardened adventurers. The Sanctuary of the Swordmaiden dungeon and Deep Space Exploration Expedition are the latest instances to be elevated to Prime status, calling all players to organize with capable friends to brave new levels of challenge for due rewards.
Madame Fay’s Fortunes Update
The release of this content update also coincides with Madame Fay marvelously restocking treasures that had previously been depleted. The Arcterra collection is quite literally the coolest set of Fortunes she’s ever supplied, and beginning September 6 they’ll again be available for a limited time.

Original postOn September 6, Nexus will host its Homecoming, a cosmic block party to celebrate the grand opening of Communities, in which players will band together to create unique living spaces on shared land. And with a game update so lovingly devoted to enriching WildStar’s brand of Player Housing—Communities deliver a bona fide new social system that’s anchored by the creativity and collaborative spirit of every contributor—it’s a cherry-on-top opportunity to introduce the brand-new recurring event: Residential Renovation!
Intelligent Design
Sara Conavius, housing designer and renovator extraordinaire, will be touching down on Nexus for one week every month to look for properties to feature in new episodes of her intergalactic hit holovision show, “Residential Renovation.” The self-proclaimed Genesis Prime of Home Improvement, Sara will be visiting Illium and Thayd to help you make your home really pop for the cameras in the new “Neighborhoods of Nexus” edition of her Protostar Academy Award-eligible series. (She’s also more than willing to sign autographs for her sea of adoring fans—the largest audience to visit a quest giver, period.)
Let Your Hearth Be Your Guide
Do your part to aide in the production of Sara’s broadcast by completing a series of home improvement tasks—and probably take some time to shower her with adulation—and she’ll reward you with Home Renovation Guides. These guides can be turned into Sara’s Production Assistant for a variety of rewards, including housing décor, achievements, pets, and mounts. This is a fine opportunity for architects, landscapers, and interior designers alike to further inflate their prolific troves of decorative treasures!
Chase Booty
There are three separate sets of rewards lifted from the former Sim-Chase, Battle Chase, and Dungeon Chase events. These three reward sets will be on distinct rotation each month when Residential Renovation is active, which means the reward cycle is completed and starts again every few months. Additional goodies may be inserted into this rotation in future updates.
Here’s but a small sampling of the rewards that are available to you while taking part in the Residential Renovation.
We hope your collaboration with Sara not only results in fabulous home restorations, but makes for great holovision too! Following Homecoming, Residential Renovation will begin its inaugural run on September 15 at 10am PDT and last until 10am PDT on September 22—get ready for show time!

Homecoming: To Build a Community Everlasting

Original postThe Communities Housing system is a marquee feature making its grand debut in Homecoming, the next major WildStar update arriving September 6. For the first time ever players will be able to join their Housing plots together to create an otherworldly neighborhood with near-limitless customization possibilities. Before you plunge head first into this rich new feature, let’s cover some of the basics that’ll put you on your path toward expert Community planning.
Social Engineering
At their core, Communities are designed as a social feature that’s structured much like the guild system. You can think of the logistics of Community membership as similar to belonging to a guild, and your Community can be entirely independent of your guild (if you’re in one). Various ranks can be set for Community members, beginning at the top with the leader, to customize permission sets and determine who has the ability to make a number of key decisions that shape the Community. And while up to a maximum of 20 characters may belong to a Community, it’s important to note that no more than five Housing plots can be actively displayed within the collective Community plot. In addition to the five Housing plots, there’s a common area to which multiple members can contribute decorations to help tie the neighborhood together. Express yourselves!
It Takes a Village
Any character that’s a home owner and can create guilds and Circles can also establish a Community. To get started with founding your Community, speak with the Protostar Community Director located in Illium and Thayd in front of each city’s Housing display. Just be sure to give some thought to naming your Community! It’ll cost 50 Platinum or 600 Service Tokens to register, so it may be worth making arrangements to split the cost among the people you’ll be inviting to be your neighbors. A character may only belong to one Community at any given time. To that end, if you’ve always dreamt of building a shared living space for your alts, and you have the funds to unlock a Community by yourself, more power to you! At its core, the Communities system is designed to be a social feature, but solo Communities are an option too.
Phenomenal Cosmic Power, Not-so-Itty-Bitty Living Space
Given that the Communities system pulls together characters’ existing Housing plots, it’s worth understanding how belonging to a Community will affect your personal living space. Whenever your home is occupying a physical space in the Community it won’t also be available to visit as a separate Housing plot. On the flipside, if you’re a member of a Community but your home isn’t currently occupying one of the five plots, you’ll retain access to your individual Housing plot. To put it simply, you get one location on which to display your personal property at any given time, whether that’s within a Community or on your own plot.
There are various options available to members for selecting or reserving plots depending on how ranks are established by the Community Leader—remember there are a total of five plots to display members’ homes. If there’s a vacant plot whenever you visit your Community, at virtually any rank you can choose to display your Housing plot in that space for the duration of your play session. The plot is then relinquished to be used by another member of the Community once you log out of the game. On the other hand, with sufficient permissions you can reserve a plot, which is a way of staking long-term claim to the land that persists whether or not you’re online. A reservation is removed when the plot owner or someone else with appropriate permissions revokes it. The goal with these placement options is to give larger Communities the opportunity to be flexible in how access to plots are shared, while also allowing smaller Communities to lock down who gets each piece of land.
Win Big in the Community Showdown
We know a lot of determined builders are enthusiastic about the introduction of Communities to the ever-expansive Player Housing system in WildStar. With this in mind we’re jumpstarting Homecoming with a brand-new Housing contest on a scale we’ve never done before! In the coming days you’ll have the ability to register a team to compete in the Community Showdown to make the coolest, most unique, and awe-inspiring Community in the galaxy! If you’re up for the challenge, we recommend you start gathering your team of up to five players and think of what to name your Community. We’ll open a signup page for you and your teammates to register, and you can get started on your shared masterpiece the moment the Homecoming game update goes live! Stay tuned in the coming days. We’ll announce when signups are open and contest rules are available.
We’re thrilled to be bringing this new feature to WildStar and can’t wait to stop by your neighborhood!

These holographic simulations left behind by the Eldan not only allow adventurers to experience simulated stories, but could offer clues as to the disappearance of the Eldan. To this end, the CoGS are offering rewards for anyone who can complete Sim-Core simulations (widely known as Adventures).

Original postFor centuries, the Ekose Shiphands Union has been running cargo from planet to planet. And if there's one thing the alien Ekose know, it's spaceships—how to use them, live on them, build them, take them apart, and put them back together again.
How do they manage these staggering feats of interstellar travel? With the help of an amazing discovery that lets their technology work longer and steadier than any other—the elusive Eko Particles! They're what Ekose pilots use to keep their ship engines running smoothly for extended periods. And once again, as part of the limited-time Space Chase event returning 10am PDT July 31 to 10am PDT August 7, Ekose ship captains Exchanger Beno and Collector Torio will be letting everyone get in on the secret and unlocking the coolest spaceship components in the galaxy—parts you can use to build your own unique spaceships on your housing plot!
Beno and Torio can be found in each capital city near the contracts board.
When the Suns Align
Since the discovery of Nexus, many Ekose traders have visited the Eldan planet to haul cargo and goods to and from the planet. In that time, more than a few Ekose ships have crashed on the surface, leaving lots of stray Eko Particles to be collected. Eko Particles are so valuable because they can only be detected when exposed to certain types of stellar radiation, meaning they can only be found on Nexus when the planet's trinary suns align perfectly. That time frame is known among Ekose traders as the "Space Chase."
Embrace the Chase
Need a quick refresher on how this all works? During the Space Chase, every time you complete an Expedition that's within your level range you'll earn Eko Particles that you can trade with or sell to other players. You can then bring them to Exchanger Beno, who will exchange them for valuable Eko Chits that you can then trade with Collector Torio for exclusive spaceship housing décor items, as well as all-new rewards this time around! Want to skip the step where you complete Expeditions? Just buy Eko Chits at the In-Game Store using Protobucks or OmniBits—Collector Torio doesn't care how you got the Chits, as long as he gets his hands on them!
Of note: Eko Particles can only be earned by playing Expeditions that are at the correct level range for your character. The level ranges for each Expedition are as follows:
- Level 6-12: Fragment Zero
- Level 10-19: Outpost M-13
- Level 17-27: Infestation
- Level 20-27: Evil from the Ether
- Level 25-31: Rage Logic
- Level 29-33: Space Madness
- Level 31-41: Deep Space Exploration
- Level 39-49: Gauntlet
- Level 50: Any Veteran Expedition or Vault of the Archon
Space Chasers Unite
Earning Eko Particles Expeditions to trade for Eko Chits is just one way to participate in the Space Chase event. You can also use OmniBits or Protobucks to buy Space Chase Cases directly from the In-Game Store. Space Chase Cases have a chance to give the same ship components you can purchase from Collector Torio, plus they're the only place to find exclusive Space Chase rewards like one of fifteen new décor NPC characters, complete ship replicas, or one of three exclusive new housing music tracks! And remember, you can always trade anything you get from a Space Chase Case with your friends, or buy/sell them at the auction house.
Just in Case
Like the ships themselves, Space Chase Cases come in three flavors, and each one will only initially be available during a specific two-day period. At the end of the event (10am PDT August 4 to 10am PDT August 7) all three will be up in the In-Game Store for a limited time.

More Space Chase Takes

But you can also get the décor, mount, and pet (and music tracks mentioned above) directly from the Expeditions in the form of mini-cases that have a chance to drop at the end of Expeditions.
Time Bandit
Too busy folding space-time down at the ol’ collider to run Expeditions and get Eko Particles? No prob! You can use Protobucks or OmniBits to purchase Eko Chits directly from the In-Game Store, and then snag a selection of Space Chase items available from Collector Torio. So prepare to race into space and face the Space Chase!
Show Us Your Creations

Original postMadame Fay is continuing the trend of bringing back stock that has come and gone, and for the next run her inventory is going retro again. She’s packed her Fortunes full of throwbacks and is offering some truly incredible rewards, in addition to some of the standard stuff—like OmniBits and Service Tokens.
If you’re looking to claim any of her remaining space inventory, be sure to get what you can before August 2. After that she’ll only be offering her retro-inspired Fortunes.
Let’s take a look!
Mounts for Gold
As with previous Madame Fay updates, you’ll have the ability to turn in one of each of the three mount color variations for the rarest-of-the-rare gold version—normally obtainable only as a super-rare Fortune drop. Through alchemical reactions you shouldn’t ask any questions about, you can purchase a Retrosaur Gilding Catalyst for 1 gold from the Madame Fay Far-Traders found in Illium and Thayd. Using the Gilding Catalyst will then consume the three mounts and spit out a shiny golden version (again, best to not ask too many questions). All Retrosaur color variants will be obtainable from Fortunes at any time before the next full inventory refresh.
Fortune Coins are purchased directly from the In-Game Store, and can be redeemed for Madame Fay Fortunes, which can include a wide variety of items, décor, mounts, currencies, and consumables. Hit your ‘N’ key to bring up the In-Game Store.

Madame Fay’s Space Fortunes Return!

Original postMany people from all over Nexus have been hoping for a day when they’d have another shot at Fortunes long since retired from Madame Fay’s tiny golden orbs. Well good news—the Madame has sensed the desires of the people and is in the business of keeping attuned to their sympathetic vibrations! Her inventory has been fully refreshed with a bevy of returning space-themed Fortunes, including unique mounts, pets, toys, and cosmetic changes for your character. What’s more, joining this revived selection are three all-new mounts! With each Fortune you open there’s a chance to score a yellow, blue, or ultra-rare gold Industrial BoreBot mount.
Unlike recent Fortunes updates, there’s no gilding catalyst this time around you need to trade in BoreBot variants for the gold version, nor are these mounts on any sort of limited rotation. All three colors have a chance to appear in your chosen Fortunes for the duration of this stock’s availability, but it’ll take a little extra luck to strike gold.
Take a look at some of the returning goods and see if there’s anything you fancy.

Dungeon Chase July 3–10!

Original postThe Big Game Hunters of Nexus have been stalking the wild beasts and challenging the nastiest depths of this mysterious, treasure-filled planet for years now, and they simply don't have enough room to store all the amazing loot they've accumulated. But they can't just give these amazing rewards away to anyone who hasn't earned them. By completing dungeons during the Dungeon Chase event you’ll earn Small Game Scraps you can exchange for Big Game Bucks with Exchanger Gigax. Dungeon Cases might contain housing plot décor pieces, in addition to other exclusive rewards like the Torine Stripe Pumera or Swordcat mounts, Swordkitten pets, or one of the Dungeon Crawler décor NPCs decked out in stunning Osun armor. The Future of In-Game Events

Original postNow that the Starfall anniversary is nearing its end, it’s high time to look ahead at what the future holds for these types of recurring festivities and talk about what is happening with Chases.
With any in-game event, it’s important to us that your participation feels especially rewarding and relevant to the content being highlighted. One issue with the current Chase events is that a bulk of the rewards are valued housing customization pieces gated behind activities that aren’t necessarily geared toward the dedicated builders out there. To address this we’re going to be phasing out Chases and introducing a new, more fitting event to offer the décor sets and many other housing pieces previously found as Chase rewards.
Embrace the Chase
Before we get to the new event, we’re going to spin up each of the Chases for one last hurrah. We hope you’ll enjoy and take full advantage of the Chase finales, especially if you want to collect the rewards they offer sooner rather than later:
- Dungeon Chase: July 3–10
- Battle Chase: July 17–24
- Space Chase: July 31–August 7
- Sim-Chase: August 14–21
Full details for each Chase will be posted with the launch of the event.
New Event! Residential Renovation
After the Chase events are indefinitely paused, in a future update we’ll be introducing Residential Renovation! Players will help housing designer and renovator extraordinaire, Sara Conavius, by completing a variety of activities to earn currency which can be traded for rewards.
We’re currently planning to run this weeklong event once a month, and rotate former Dungeon, Battle, and Sim Chase rewards each time—this means rewards from each former Chase will be available on a three-month rotation. We’ll share more details about how the Residential Renovation event works, as well as what we plan to do with former Space Chase rewards, at a later date.
Very Eventful
Before we signoff, let’s recap all events that’ll be in rotation following these changes.
- Double XP X-Plosion! – Make the most of your leveling adventures by earning twice as much XP from all sources.
- Power, Prestige, and PvP! – Square off against other players in PvP to receive double the Prestige reward.
- Glory Days – Boost your PvE prowess with double the Glory gains from all sources.
- Blessing of Essence – Blast through your Primal Matrix to reach new levels of power with double the acquisition of Crimson, Cobalt, and Viridian Primal Essence.
- Boss Hunter Challenge – Earn extra rewards every time you slay a world boss or legendary champion.
- zPrix Invitational – Take a break from combat and hit the race tracks for some fast and furious rewards.
- Residential Renovation – Upcoming new housing event! Stay tuned for details.
Annual Holiday Events
- Starfall Anniversary – Grab a bevy of bonuses and login rewards to commemorate WildStar’s birthday during the month of July.
- Shade’s Eve – Enjoy this unique fall holiday with a slew of seasonal activities and rewards.
- Protostar’s Gala Winterfest Extravaganza – Get caught in the season of gift giving (and buying) featuring all kinds of activities and rewards.
