Balance
🟢Lucky Clover: 2 Charges --> 1 Charge.
🟢Turnbound Ring: 0 dmg --> 20 dmg | 3.5s CD --> 3.4s CD. | Melee --> Ranged (updated projectile).
🟢Katya (d4) "Take my Spear": Gain a Refined Spear with +5 dmg / +3 types --> +10 dmg / +5 types.
🔴Mass Production (perk): Now only works on first 3 shops day 3.
Other
Added Lifesteal variant to home-brew (w/ vampire tag).
3-Star Home-Brew now always gains Lifesteal as well.
Reverted 3-Star Recharge Rod to give unlimited charges.
Time Tonic / Time Vial reverted to flat CDR. Reason: After testing it more, the % reduction works nicely on Dreamcatcher, but not the potions. This is because when using potions you often want to know exactly how much it reduces, so you don't "waste" any CDR (due to 1s cap). This is not the case with Dreamcatcher, as you can really use it as much as you want, but potions are single-use.
"One Trick" perk now always prioritizes types and only picks neutral if you don't own any items of types. So: 4 neutral + 1 dark --> Dark is majority. 3 Neutral 1 dark 1 holy --> Randomly selects dark or holy as majority. Only Neutral --> Neutral is majority.
Reworked the requirement for "Midas' Regards" unlock to simply picking the "Random Blessing" option.
Fixes
General Fixes:
Fixed a bug where earning 10 trophies with all items in the game would only count as 96,12% completion.
Fixed a bug where the log achievement would be mistakenly given.
Fixed a bug where the Home-Brew variant with all tags were missing Fairy+Vampire.
Fixed a bug where the "longest endless day" record would not be counted in stats.
Trophies/Prices in collection are now fully aligned visually.
Fixed a crash on day 5 when picking Refreshments perk.
The Refreshments perk now always offers 3 unique potions.
Raised max hp cap from 1T to 1Q in respect of red rose. (also red rose now obeys the hp cap like everything else)
Fixed a bug where right-clicking Rare items would not count towards the perk unlock.
Fixed a bug where Jack of Clubs and Queen of Hearts would not trigger Ace of Spades.
Fairy Orb 3-Star now actually gives the All Tag.
Did some fixes with warhorn, maybe(?) the rare crash in endless mode with warhorn/lifesteal/red rose has been fixed. Let me know.
Fixed a bug where Butterflies in the shop would show an incorrect cooldown.
Fixed a bug where you could unlock perks from match history.
Fixed the Steam screenshot bug - the F12 steam hotkey now works for screenshots.
Fixed a bug with Sugar Rush where it spawned candies that you had to purchase to use them...
Fixed a crash when using 3-Star Goobert.
Fixed the One-Trick perk. Now also doesn't care if you buy neutral items, and only items that you buy in the shop count towards it.
Fixed a bug where Lucky Clover on enemy team would give you a lucky reroll.
Fixed a possible crash when clicking on a build in history which contained a Slot Buff.
Fixed a bug where Enchanted Deck would be considered a part of the neutral item pool.
Fixed a visual bug where King's Bow and Home-Brew would not show their prices in the collection.
Duos Fixes:
Fixed a bug where pings would dissappear for 1 round if you selected Granny encounter.
Fixed a bug where Red Rose + Lifesteal would mess with the Max HP of players and not be counted correctly.
Possibly fixed a rare crash happening randomly when playing duos.
If you click the emote wheel and drag the mouse outside of it, it will now let you "ping" something without saying "need" or "want?".
You can now ping perks and encounter options.
You can now ping during the encounter phase.
The "Portal" ping icon has been replaced with a brown mystery box icon. Meant to signal if the teammate wants a "random item" from Seer etc.
The Freeze ping icon has been replaced with "?". This is because you can already ping the freeze button which did the exact same thing.
Fixed a bug where Rare Find or Risky Business could give you shards.
Fixed a bug where you could press [escape] while the shop was continuing to fight, resulting in "waiting" bug.
Fixed a bug in duos where Pandoras Box would show up in the neutral pool.

New Perks
8 new unlockable perks have been added to the game.
These are a mix of safe and more risky perks for different playstyles.
All new perks are unlockable and come with a matching Steam-Achievement.
Picking Random Perks and Random Packs now provides +20% rating boost instead of +10%. This change was made to encourage variety.
Player Stats
You can now see some cool stats on the Main Menu!
The 10-Trophy meter fills up as you get 10 trophies with all items in the game.
To keep track, you can go to collection and click the little trophy icon.
Besides the new perk-achievements, I also added an achievement for earning 10-Trophies with all items in the game:
One more thing: You will also be able to track items you won with as 3-Star:
UI Improvements
The Pack/Perk selection screen has been improved:
New player QoL: You can now hover packs to see a little preview.
New Neutral item: Air Blast
Legendary | 45g | 1.5s CD | 1 Multicast | 30 dmg | On Trigger: Gain +2 Bonus Damage.
Air Blast is Spell / Wind type, and in the future I intend to add the Wind pack, which this will become a part of.
Pandora's Box made Special rarity. 20s CD --> 18s CD | 50g --> 45g.
Poison Dagger is no longer Crystal. New item to take its place: Opal Knife (Crystal/Fairy dual-type).
Recharge Rod made Epic. Now gives +1 bonus charge on trigger, instead of "recharging".
For Fairy balance reasons, Turnbound ring now says "This item always has the same types as the items in your tower" instead of simply having the "all" tag by default.
For Fairy balance reasons, the Katya encounter now gives a Refined Spear with +3 random types, instead of the "all" type.
Starlight Potion rework
Starlight potion did not really serve any purpose. Too expensive early game, too weak late game.
Price: 60g | Upgrade a plain item to a 1-Star item.
Cooldown reduction
Flat cooldown reduction has been reworked to % cooldown reduction. This is to prevent CDR from being exponentially more beneficial on low CD items.
The only Flat CDR that is left in the game, is Carmen's "Walk on Water" (-0.3s).
🔄 Time Tonic: -10% Cooldown
🔄 Time Vial: -5% Cooldown
🔄 Dream Catcher: -5% Cooldown | 4 Charges.
The % reduction will always reduce a minimum of 0.1s CD.
This means that Dream Catcher will be better than before on items that have 3s+ CD, and equally as good as before on items below 3s CD.
Quality of Life
You can now Right-click chest rewards to instantly open them.
Added a button in the collection to view item prices:
You can now see shop rarities at a glance. (Click on it to turn off)
[DUOS]: Right-clicking a stack of shards to quick-pass them will now send max 5 shards at a time (you can still spam right click it, but this avoids sending 2000 shards at once in endless etc.)
[DUOS]: When both players select "Random Packs" they will now get the same random selection of packs. This ensures you don't get completely different packs, so you can help each other by sending triples etc.
Favourite builds
You can now add up to 10 builds as Favourites in your match history, to save them for all eternity!
Other
Bleed is now applied before damage. This is mainly a "logical" change, but also a slight Bleed buff.
Updated the graphics of a few projectiles.
Random Packs: +10% --> +20% rating
Random Perks: +10% --> +20% rating
[DUOS]: If you get the "Waiting.." bug in duos in the enemy preview screen due to connection issue, you will not lose any rating by leaving. This is a temporary solution as I try to actually fix this issue entirely.
The game now loads textures on startup during the splash screen, completely eliminating the initial lag experienced in the first ~30 seconds of playing the game.
Added "Bugphobia" mode to the accessibility settings (replaces all bug-projectiles with regular projectiles like arrows). //After fixing so many bugs I feel a bit of bugphobia myself.
Divine Axe made neutral to make room for Fairytale in the Holy pack.
Items that generate more items no longer create triple-chest rewards too.
General Balance
Items
🔴Frozen Jaw (legendary): 50g --> 45g | x3/x4/x5 --> x2.5/x3/x3.5
🔴M’Arrow (Common): Now gains 1 less Multicast per 50% crit at 2-Star.
🔴Refined Bow (Epic): Now says "gain multicast per other elven item."
🔴Midas Diary (Epic): 3s CD --> 4s CD.
🟢Soulsplitter (legendary): 0 multicast → 3 multicast. | Now only gains +1 multicast per unique debuff. //Dev comment: Soulsplitter is now less reliant on debuffs and can work nicely in an axe-build for example.
🟢Bat Wing (legendary): 40 dmg --> 50 dmg.
🟢Redemption (legendary): 4.5s CD --> 4.2s CD.
🟢Kingslayer (legendary): 4.4s CD → 3.7s CD | 0% Crit → 15% Crit. //Dev comment: Kingslayer was severely underuperforming, so it’s gaining a nice boost this patch.
🟢[DUOS] King'S Bow (Rare): 35g --> 30g | 10 dmg --> 12 dmg | 4.5s CD --> 4.2s CD.
🟢[DUOS] Whetstone (legendary): 25 Shield --> 50 shield.
Perks
🟢Archmage: Gain a random common spellbook and a magic slot day 5 → day 3.
Encounters
Enchanter: Option to upgrade a rare item now costs 15 gold.
Master Alderos: Option to upgrade an Epic item now costs 25 gold.

Fixes
[DUOS]: Fixed a bug where items gifted by Seer would not properly triple.
[DUOS]: Fixed a bug where Seer’s “Give a 1/2/3-Star common” would not have the correct stats.
[DUOS]: Shock damage for your teammate is now properly applied.
[DUOS]: Potions, shards, etc. can no longer be held onto while going into a fight (caused bugs).
[DUOS]: Fixed a bug where the Glass Knife could sometimes become negative sell value, causing you to lose money by selling it.
Fixed a bug where King Midas' Corrupt Blessing would not work properly if it was the 3rd Doom Guide obtained.
Items now filter out duplicate types so "Goblin" "Goblin" is not possible. etc.
Fixed a bug where 3-Star Cauldron would not show how many potions it generated during a fight.
Fixed a bug where 2-Star Arcane Mace would not get Shock.
Fixed a bug where Lesser Health Potion and Morph Vial would not show up in potion generator items.

Addressing rating-system feedback
Thank you for all of the feedback for the new Season 2 rating system.
The new system definitely made the game more competitive, and made the high ranks a lot harder to achieve. As Fluffeh mentioned, I think I might have "overcompensated" from the season 1 system, which was much easier to climb in.
Today I am adjusting the system and making it slightly more forgiving. During the Early Access we have to find the perfect middle-ground, where the ranks are competitive, but there is still some room for experimentation, which is what makes the game so fun.
The 2 main changes:
0 trophy rating loss is now capped at -100. One bad run should not result in many hours wasted.
You now break-even slightly faster (8 trophies in GM instead of 9). Only earning rating at 10 trophies didn't work well, as the last round was often luck dependant on which opponent you faced. This is more forgiving than the initial S2 system, but still a lot more competitive than S1, where you broke even at 6 trophies in GM and gained +100 rating.

I will be keeping a close eye on additional feedback and how this revision feels.

Duos Balance:
Most shards have been made cheaper.
Seer "give shards" option heavily buffed.
Seer "Give freerolls" option buffed.
Seer "Give candy" option buffed.
New Seer option: Give your teammate a Crit / Bleed / Multicast slot.
Other:
Fixed a bug in Duos where ghosts were not properly uploaded.
Fixed a bug in Duos where you would lose an item if you were holding it while the game was proceeding to the battle phase.
Fixed a visual bug where priest said +100% HP instead of +85% in its tooltip.
Fixed a visual bug where the "Pass" text inside the duos portal would go out of the portal in some languages.
Fixed a bug where the sell value of generated items would be higher than intended.
Fixed a German translation error on the Refined Bow.

Reworked Rating System
The rating system in Oaken Tower has always been very forgiving. Actually so forgiving, that it ended up in massive rating-inflation. The current system ended up being a measure of time spent rather than skill, and for season 2, I am trying to go the other direction.

The new rating system is inspired by the system in Down with the Ship and many other games.
Essentially, the high ranks become very demanding, and you should find the ranked ladder much more competitive. Grandmaster will now be a true achievement.
Better UI for "Random Packs"
You can now clearly see if you have equipped fully random packs, which provides +10% rating boost.
What's coming next during Season 2?

I plan on the perks for the Q3 update to be a mix of safe/reliable perks and some crazy high-roll ones.

Gameplay Changes
Leveling up early game tended to be very strong. In high-elo, the main strategy was to power-level early game and choose the Healing Touch option from the priest to gain large amounts of Max HP - essentially winning on HP diff, gaining access to legendary items AND gaining extra income to outscale anyone who didn't level up.
To make early game leveling more punishing I am introducing 2 new gameplay changes:
Healing Touch (priest, d3): Gain +100% Max HP --> Gain +85% Max HP.
Losing / Winning a combat grants: 4 / 8 XP --> 4 / 12 XP.
The last change makes tempo builds fall less behind, because they are rewarded with more XP.
I will be monitoring this gameplay change closely over the next weeks.
The intent is not to make scaling builds bad, but to make the game more dynamic and make buying items early game a more viable strategy in high ranks.
Duos changelog
Added 3 new Want?/Need ping options.
You can now emote during combat.
Fixed connection issues. The game will now automatically reconnect in the background if you briefly lose connection.
The Oak fight in duos now only fights with your board.
Duos has been translated into all available languages. (Please report any bugs you find in the Discord)
Added ranked mode and ranked leaderboard.
The host chooses Casual/Ranked, but the joiner can ping to signal what they want to play.
If you play with a random partner and they leave mid-game, only they will lose rating.
Projectiles are now destroyed when a new tower swaps in.
Fixes
Hovering your ranked flag in-game no longer shows 100 more rating than you actually have.
Various Duos bugfixes.
Other
The game now shows "Update available!" for players who are playing when a new update rolls out. This will also disable ranked and duos until you update the game.

You can now ping in the lobby screen and the end game screen.
When you recieved a passed item, the game now automatically "unreadies" you.

Passing items that builds up stacks (like Anvil or Whetstone) now keeps their stacks.
Fixed a connection issue that was related to multiple bugs. The game would not disconnect properly after leaving a duos lobby. This also meant you could sometimes still see your old teammate's tower in the portal-peek, even if you entered a new game.
Seer "+Max HP" option now also updates current HP.
Slot Buffs now actually work on the 2nd tower.
You can no longer Deep Freeze: Candies, Presents and Shards.
Passing an item that you used Celestia's "Wish" on, now keeps its Wish status (becoming 3-Star on d11).

SEASON ONE CONCLUDES JULY 31st
From next week Season 1 will conclude, players will be awarded a player title, and ranks will reset for the start of Season 2. With season 2, the brand-new multiplayer co-op mode Duos launches, with duos-specific items and encounters.
I expect there may still be some bugs and issues needing to be ironed out, so I'll be actively pushing out fixes and tweaks to Duos over the next few weeks.
Duos
14 new duos-specific items!

You and a friend each build your own tower, then team up to take on other duos. After one tower dies, the other one will swap in to continue the fight.
During shop phase, you can pass items and potions to each other for 3 gold. You can also communicate with pings!
On days 3, 8 and 11, the special "Seer" encounter will appear, offering 2 out of 23 possible options that buffs your teammate.
You have a seperate rank for Duos, and there will also be a seperate leaderboard for duos.
There is also endless mode in duos!
I made matchmaking, so you can queue up with a random partner.

Ranked update for Season 2
With the rank reset, I have decided to try to make the top ranks more competitive. In Grandmaster, you now need 7 Trophies to gain net rating. The matchmaking for high ranks has also been improved, and you should face more challenging opponents in the highest ranks moving forward.

Fixes
3-Star Brass Shield on enemy team no longer gives the player gold.
Conjure Spear no longer copies an enemy spear if put in the lowest tower spot, and enemy had a spear in one of the top spots.
Duos teasers (Art not final)
The next big patch will feature the new Co-Op mode in Oaken Tower: Duos!
In the current iteration you can invite a friend on steam, or share your lobby code. I might add matchmaking as well, so you can queue up with a random partner.
You can pass items to each other at a cost of 3 gold. I am adding a bunch of unique duos items, that benefit from passing!
Clicking the portal will let you peek to your teammate's shop and tower, to see what they need.
You can communicate with the buttons above the inventory. You can signal that you "need" some specific item or type, ask if your teammate wants something, or simply send a pog emote.
In combat, one tower starts in the fight, and when it dies, the other tower swaps in to take over!

The update is set to come out in July, and I plan to do a ladder reset as well and begin season 2!

Quality of Life:

The game now waits 0.25s before starting to check the match result, rather than 5 frames.
If you choose the "Find Dragon's Hoard on day 10" encounter option, but don't reroll at all on day 10, you no longer just "lose" the dragon's hoard. It will just appear on your next non-lucky reroll on any day from day 10+.
New encounters now actually visible when using build-codes.
Fixed M'Arrow translation which was wrong in all other languages than English.

The Q2 Update: Goblin & Dragon Pack are now live!
Today I’m rolling out the planned Q2 update, which adds two brand new packs:

The Dragon set is very versatile and primarily focuses on abilities that can crit for a stronger effect.
The Goblin set has cool bombs that you can build around, and tools to create some strong tempo builds.
Two New Encounters:
Katya (Day 4)
Lemons & Limes:
Slice Lemons and Limes to earn gold. This requires a Sword, Dagger or Axe, and will start a small minigame.
Take my Spear:
Gain a Refined Spear with the ‘All’ tag.
Drakk'Zar (Day 9)
Dragon’s Hoard:
Tomorrow: find the Dragon’s Hoard.
If you pick the Dragon's hoard, it will appear on day 10 on your first reroll. It contains valuable items, and 2 new potions:

Goldplating: Double an items' sell value.
Vaultkeeper Potion: Gain +20 Gold, +10 Income and +8 XP.
Sharp Claws:
Give an item +80% Crit Chance.

🔴Regular Bow 3 Star: +12 dmg → +10 dmg.
🔴Fire Orb: +2 permanent burn → +1 permanent burn. | 5.1s CD → 3.7s CD.
🔴Flare: 1 Burn → 0 Burn. | 4.1s CD → 3.9s CD.
🔴Razorleaf: +10 Multicast → +9 Multicast. | 45 Damage → 40 damage.
🟢Decay: Start of Combat: deal 250 dmg → 300 dmg. | At 2/3 Star, also inflict 100/200 Poison.
🔴Stormguard: 2.5s CD → 2.7s CD.
🟢War Bow: 12 DMG → 10 DMG. | +1 Multicast → +2 Multicast.
🟢Cauldron: 4.5s CD → 4.3s CD.
🔴Crook 2-Star: "Whenever this crits, gain 3 random Vials." --> 2 Random vials.
🔄Elven Shield 2/3 Star: Ability --> "Star of Day: Permanently gain +8/+20 Poison."
🔴Cursed Shield 3-Star: "Start of combat: Permanently gain shield equal 2x to this item's multicast." --> 1x this item's multicast.
A note on Endless Mode:
The Cursed Shield nerf is intended for endless mode, but please keep in mind that the game is balanced for normal, 10-trophy runs. Endless mode was added because people really wanted a way to keep playing after they won 10 trophies, so I added it. But due to the exponential-scaling nature of the game, endless mode will contain broken builds, and it is impossible to balance the game around it.

None the less I hope you welcome the nerf to 3-Star cursed shield, and in fact, I also made another change that is good for endless mode:

The game now waits 5 frames before starting to check the match results. This allows all Start-of-Combat abilities to trigger before checking anything. This was actually why A Thousand Cuts was so prominent in late endless rounds. It started with A, and was therefore the first item to trigger in the internal trigger-order, making it uncounterable.
In future updates, I will keep working on smoothing out endless mode as much as possible!

Added a tooltip for "Start of Day" effects that tells you that these effects work from inventory.
Fixes
Fixed a bug where spawning goblets with 3-Star Hook could cause the game to lag a lot and bug.
Fixed a bug where the game would lag a lot when having multiple item-spawning items proccing at the same time.
Pandora’s Slot no longer keeps spawning while in-combat if you quickly pass the shop phase.
The Merge perk has been fixed. It will now proc and merge into 3 star when using Alderos “Ascension” option, when using Mirror potion and when you enter day 7 with multiple 2-Star items.
Fixed a bug where the game would lag a lot if you had many 3-star candles and then right clicked many potions in the same frame.
Fixed a bug where some items from an item-discovery would not show when pouch was open.
Fixed text-issue when hovering "Power" perk.

Finally… I’ve been “quietly” working on something not previously on the roadmap… Duos!
What is Duos?
A brand-new real-time co-operative 2-player mode in Oaken Tower
How will Duos work?
You and a friend each build your own tower, then team up to take on other duos.
During the buy phase, you’ll be able to pass items from your inventory straight to your teammate for a fee
During the buy phase you’ll also be able to view your friends tower to understand the kind of items they need
It’s easier to build synergies together! But remember… your opponents have the same advantage…
Will there be different items or abilities in Duos?
I’m also playing around with the idea of unique “Duos-only” items that take proper advantage of the mode.
Will Duos wins/losses count towards your rank?
Duos will have its own leaderboard and you’ll gain a separate rank when playing duos.
Will there be an opportunity to playtest duos before it fully releases?
If you’d like to get your hands on it early, I’ll be slowly rolling out closed playtest access via the discord community.
All of the above is very much subject to change but represents what I’m currently thinking.

🔴 3-Star Regular Bow: +15 dmg --> 12 dmg. //dev comment: the merge bow combo was still somewhat oppressive in Grandmaster. Slowly and steadily we will make it on par with everything else :P
🟢 Turnbound Ring: 35 gold --> 30 gold.
🔴 2-Star Crook: +3 Vials --> +2 Vials.
🔴 Mythic Rod: 3.2s CD --> 3.3s CD.
🔄 Cauldron: 4s CD --> 4.5s CD | New ability: "Use a potion on this to gain an ingredient stack. On Trigger: Spend an ingredient stack to gain a random Potion." //Dev comment: This ability is much more thematic, letting you "brew" new potions by pouring other potions into the mix. It is also a much needed buff for cauldron. Expect a hotfix if this isn't as balanced as it initially seems.

Starlight Potion now costs 100 gold, but can appear pre day 8 in a lucky roll.
Since the GM pool is big enough, the matchmaking will only make GM's face each other.
Slightly improved matchmaking for endless later days.
"Upgrade" option from Blacksmith (day 4) can now be used on any item, not just "Weapons".
Fixes
Essential Oils perk gave +5 starting gold even though it didn't state so.
You can no longer use Pandora's Box to farm pandora's slots against The Oak before going into endless.
