I’m stoked to finally share that Obliterator-X is launching on February 20th, 2026. It feels good to take a moment, step back, breathe, and look at how this whole crazy project came together.
If you played my previous game Bilkins’ Folly, you might be expecting another wholesome puzzle adventure from Webbysoft… in which case you’re in for a rude shock. Where BF focused on companionship and cosy puzzle solving, O-X throws all of that straight out the window. This one fishtails into brutal top-down combat, short rounds of tower-defence inspired chaos, and a whole lot of levelling up between waves.
And before you even touch a button you’ll be hit with the heavy riffs of Rotting Christ, followed by one of the heaviest in-game soundtracks I’ve ever worked with. The main soundtrack was composed by Joe Haley from Psycroptic, who wrote each track three times so the game can shift between versions depending on what’s happening. It’s wild and it adds so much energy to every run.
Here’s a quick peek at what you’ll be doing on February 20th:
1. Scavenge, Explore, Prepare
Every run kicks off with a short scavenging phase. You’ll poke around ruined buildings, hunt for better weapons and blueprints, and grab whatever scraps you can before the real madness begins. Sometimes you luck out and find great gear. Sometimes you’ll scrape by with almost nothing. That mix of luck, panic, and planning is a big part of what makes O-X fun to build and fun to play.
2. Build Your Defenses and Hold the Line
Once the waves start rolling in the tone shifts fast. You’ll be placing traps and turrets, fighting off hoards of enemies, and trying to survive as long as you can.
Drones play a huge role here. You can assign them to scout for loot, build structures, mine scrap, or follow and defend you. A good drone setup can completely swing a run in your favour and I love how much personality they add to the flow of the game.
3. Upgrade HQ and Push Further
After each attempt you’ll head back to HQ to build new structures and unlock upgrades. This is where you slowly shape your preferred style. Maybe you want stronger defenses. Maybe you want more efficient scrap gathering. Maybe you want drones doing most of the heavy lifting.
This part of the game went through the most changes during development and I’m really proud of how it ties everything together now.
