Original postHey everyone. As I had mentioned in the last major update, I've been devoting most of the past year to working on a new project. I'm still supporting Noir Syndrome - answering questions, helping users if they run in to issues, etc.
Defragmented is a Cyberpunk Action-RPG that just went up on Kickstarter. If you want to jump straight in to the demo build, click here.
I'm at a point where I feel quite happy with the prototype version and wanted to share it with the community. If you're interested in top-down shooters, action-RPGs, cyberpunk, sci-fi, synthwave, or a variety of neon-fueled scenarios, I recommend taking a look. Maybe even tell your friends, any support is very greatly appreciated. Either way, thanks a lot for supporting my first Steam release. It definitely helped drive me to go much further with my next game.

As you may have heard in my past updates or on our various social media, I have been hard at work on a new project over the past few months. I have, however, still found time to sneak in the occasional update to Noir Syndrome. Overall, the game is in a state where I feel comforta
Original postAs you may have heard in my past updates or on our various social media, I have been hard at work on a new project over the past few months. I have, however, still found time to sneak in the occasional update to Noir Syndrome. Overall, the game is in a state where I feel comfortable leaving it as is. Providing additional free content for nearly half a year after release seemed foreign to many, but I loved improving the game at every step.
As with all of my game projects, Noir Syndrome holds a special place in my heart. I cannot say that it will never be updated again, as I have gone back and changed games that were many years dead. However, I must announce that my focus is now shifting completely to my new project, Defragmented.
For those wondering what my next project is all about: Defragmented is a third-person 3D cyberpunk action-rpg. Since this is, after all, a board specifically for Noir Syndrome, I won't go much further in to the details of that. If you would like to follow the development of my latest work I recommend watching the IndieDB page.
As always, I extend my greatest thanks to all of you who've played Noir Syndrome, whether you've spoken to me about it or not. Simply knowing there is an audience out there enjoying my work is a reward in itself. For those of you looking to stay connected to my work and Glass Knuckle Games, I'll provide a few links below. I have, however, still found time to sneak in the occasional update to Noir Syndrome. Overall, the game is in a state where I feel comfortable leaving it as is. It may be the last major update for a while, but I'll post an announcement on that later. For now, take a look at the full patch notes below!
New Features:
- New purchasable item: Hit Contract
- Hit Contracts stop any current hitmen that are after the player
- Hit Contracts also greatly reduce the chance of seeing another hitman for a while
Gameplay Changes:
- New vendor added to the Slums that sells Hit Contracts
- New vendor added to the Department Store that sells food
- New vendor added to the Mechanic Shop that sells lockpicks
- All locations now have vendors and/or unique elements that are worth visiting for
Fixes and Improvements:
- Wiping out the entire town will prevent events that couldn't occur without people
- As intended for Sandbox mode, you cannot gain progress for incremental badges
- Previously Sandbox mode only prevented earning "one-time" badges
- Job-related issues such as blank jobs and nameless NPCs have been fixed
- Minor AI improvements

Version 1.7 Now Available
Version 1.7 is now available for all users! As I had mentioned in the preview, this update brings a fair amount of new content with some nifty gameplay changes as well. The Post Office is an ideal non-violent alternative to the Hunt Club, and now both areas are considered "jobs".

The Post Office is an ideal non-violent alternative to the Hunt Club, and now both areas are considered "jobs". To go with the new job statistics are the first costumes that can be unlocked without collecting costume scraps.
For players looking to complete Impossible mode and get the highest scores, challenge points have become even more critical. Now, every challenge point gives 2 starting hunger in addition to the old effects. To encourage players to try harder modes, solving a case on Hard awards 1 challenge point while solving a case on Impossible awards 2 challenge points. Coupled with the Hard/Impossible bonuses for completing challenges, you could earn up to 5 points in one game!

- Delivering packages to people rewards money, a non-violent alternative to the Hunt Club

As I had mentioned in the preview, this patch is on the larger side. An all new "Sandbox" mode has been added that provides unlimited days and hunger. Additionally, the killer has taken to hiring hitmen to stop you from eventually capturing them. As you get closer to solving a case, hired hitmen will try to track you down and try to stop you. Anyone could be out for you, so pay attention to what people say and you might get an early warning that you're being hunted.

- Sandbox mode gives the player infinite hunger and infinite days
- Sandbox mode works in the Dinner Party as well, except there is still only 1 day
- You cannot earn score, unlock badges, purchase scraps, or complete challenges in Sandbox mode
- Added hired hitmen to the main game who will search for the detective
- The chance for a hitman to appear increases as clues, suspects, and days are accumulated
- Killing hitmen will not anger any factions and will prevent any more for a while
- Added unique screen overlays for each costume pair
Gameplay Changes:
- Camera shifted slightly so the player is more centric
- Each hitman eliminated will provide a significant score boost
- Hitmen will show up much sooner and much more often on Hard and Impossible modes
- NPCs may warn the player when a hitman is currently searching for them
- Slowed hostile NPC's initial shooting times slightly on all modes
- Slower shooting only affects the first shot, so players can load in and react better
