This time we've polished up tons of rough edges that were meant to be fixed some time down the line. From minor visual glitches and small detection edge cases to gameplay pacing, we've been busy smoothing things out. There's not much new content this time, but the overall player experience should be much better.
The most obvious would be the death cause scene. We've heard from playtesters that they were sometimes confused about how they died. We are now isolating the offending enemy and the player the moment death occurs. And if the cause is not obvious, it'll even tell you directly what effect killed you.
This took us long enough to implement. 🙈
Now when you open up the inventory, you will find 2 new tabs. Check out the monsters you've defeated. These entries update themselves whenever you find new info about them. Learn about Mini as you collect her memories and related stuff!
Currently, we have an enemy page and Mini's fave page. A Cards page will come later detailing their effects and, if any, relation to Mini!
Instead of Mini's memories unlocking seemingly at random points during your fighting journey, they now have a special nook of their own. This should pace the gameplay better!

So, what's new?
Every defeated enemy has a chance of dropping coffee! Even breaking the crates may spawn a coffee!
Also, unwind in Mini's cafe and sip coffee for as long as you wish. All you need to do is talk with the patrons first! Of course, you can still skip all the dialogue. You’ll just miss coffee time. I figured this would be a better way to encourage players to read. (hopefully!)
It's like a treasure goblin, but rat. This little creature runs around carrying a Card Bonus Machine, and it may also steal your cards or snatch your coffee.
The Card Bonus Machine it drops lets you do one of three things each time:
A. Randomly upgrade X cards
How many? Let's see where you hit the bar!
B. Combine 2 cards
Each max-level card can be combined with another max-level card, freeing up card slots for more cards!
C. Remove 1 card
Don’t like a card? Now you have a chance to discard it here!
Whenever you see a Golden Rat, chase it down before it escapes! Keep upgrading cards, combining them, and make room for more cards, more abilities and boom!
Booster pack choices are no longer completely random. They are now designed to help you build your deck faster!
A. Power Dash (name may change later)
Your dash can damage foes. Upgrade the card enough, and it will even leave menacing flying plastic bags in the air! Spooky!
B. Mini Bites
Defeated enemies have a chance to turn into dog training machines. Hit them, and Minis will burst from the ground to bite your foes!
C. Mini Protects
When you successfully pet parry, a bunch of Minis will charge out to protect you further!
D. Egg Party
Want to make foes lay eggs?
This is exactly what this card does. Hitting foes with eggs will cause them to lay another egg behind them. When that egg hits another foe, they may lay another egg shooting backwards… Pass eggs on! (disclaimer: we may swap egg with other stuff in the future)
Some existing cards have also been tweaked.
Knockback enemies with some throwable items!
Also, attacking no longer makes you drop the item you’re carrying. You’ll only drop it if you press the carry button again or take damage. (Currently, you can do this with cones, coffee cans and Card Bonus Machines)
Found a card you really want, but your deck is full? Just carry it around until you have room for it!
Egg deflection used to work a long time ago, and then one day it just stopped working. Now it’s fixed!
I had always meant to sync attack speed with movement speed. Somehow, the code was never hooked up properly. Now it’s finally fixed!
Getting a speed card or activating turbo will now also increase your attack speed. Of course, the animation speed has also been adjusted to match the frenzy.
Also, not exactly bad news, but I should mention that slow status effects now affect attack speed and jump speed too.
Axe and sword stats have also been adjusted, with their speed and damage fine-tuned.
As some requested, you’ll be able to enlarge cards in the inventory and admire your collection!

With all the new HP drops and card abilities, the game might be off balance again. I have played too many times, I really can’t tell if it’s too easy or about right.

After showcasing at multiple festivals and extensive playtesting over the past year, the demo has undergone some major revamps. The original 3-hour demo is now condensed into a 20-30-minute experience of heartfelt stories, escalating battles, and an atmospheric cyberpunk setting, allowing players to quickly grasp the essence of the game. For those craving more lore, the old demo remains hidden in a secret area within the game.
In addition to the original azure harbour biome, the updated version introduces new environments inspired by the devs' hometowns, featuring classic Hong Kong architecture, colonial British buildings, and nostalgic Taiwanese street food. Imagine a sprawling urban landscape with hovering drones, a steampunk industrial atmosphere, the distant clatter of construction machinery, and shadowy, neon-lit alleys. The murmurs of distant crowds enhance the ambience, all set to new music with a moody, atmospheric vibe and subtle electronic beats, creating a striking contrast between the vibrant city life and the cyberpunk setting's gritty undertones.
The team is now collaborating with the notable US pixel artist Blueeyes Norton, who has contributed several pieces of concept art and a new cover for the game. His unique art style inspired the new demo's visuals, which have been carefully adapted to incorporate his distinctive artistic influence.

Funny Yet Heartfelt Narrative Weaved with Roguelite Mechanics
DDmeow Games, announces the release of the "Cyber Paradise Demo" on January 19th. This neon-drenched 2D action roguelite revolves around the digital revival of Mini the Dog. Players will engage in frenetic combats on a quest to uncover Mini's memories, and in between battles, they have the chance to bond with Mini's friends in the cozy setting of Mini's Café.
Upon collecting enough of Mini's memories, players can digitally revive the dog. Additionally, players can also craft items from Mini's favorite memories. For instance, if players uncover a memory of Mini sniffing a dog's butt, they can recreate a dog butt in Mini's Cyber Paradise where Mini will happily sniff it and show contentment.
The narrative unfolds in two primary areas: within Mini's memories, players delve into the backstories of various characters and past mysteries of this dystopian world from the dog's unique perspective; and in Mini's Café, where each visit strengthens relationships with these characters through funny yet heartfelt dialogues.
All You Can Pet/Eat/Etc with an Epic Crossover of 5 Games
In celebrating the return of Mini the Dog, this demo includes a special collaboration with 5 games. This crossover will happen at the end of the "Cyber Paradise" demo, giving players a chance to pet/eat/interact with all the animals and food from the participating games' worlds as part of the festivities. A list of participating games is at the bottom of this press release.
Well Received at Early Demo Stage
The alpha demo has already received multiple awards and one nomination, such as Best Game Direction and more.
The narration has been described as "heartfelt and funny" and the mechanics as "ridiculously fun" by media and playtesters.
Releasing As An Open Alpha Demo for Wider Community Testing
Since its debut in September last year, the closed-alpha demo of 'Cyber Paradise' has been rigorously playtested and streamed, with the count exceeding over 100 sessions. This iterative process has resulted in over 100 new, improved versions of the game. Sze, the developer, emphasizes, 'These weren't just minor bug fixes. The game has undergone several fundamental changes. Each playthrough brought fresh insights, significantly propelling the game's evolution.'
"This journey has been a collaborative effort, greatly supported by fellow game developers, streamers, and playtesters.
