Hello Humans!
We've heard a lot of questions from you about the future of Clone Drone in the Hyperdome. We wish we could bring you better news.
Unfortunately, we have to leave Hyperdome un-updated for the immediate future. The VR market is grim, especially for premium games with no monkeys in them, so we can’t afford to give Hyperdome much time at the moment. We are immensely proud of the game. We have fun ideas for updates we might circle back to, if market conditions improve. For now, we see Danger Zone and future projects as our best vehicles to deliver as much joy as we can to the largest number of players we can reach!
We understand this will disappoint many of you. We feel the same way.
Thank you immensely for your incredible Looprunner fan art, stories and gameplay videos! It took years of hard work to bring Hyperdome to life. Your excitement for our game made it all worthwhile.
If you would like to know what we're working on in the future, you can read this blog post about Clone Drone in the Danger Zone updates, Danger Zone on mobile and Project Orca.

Hello Humans!
The Hyperdome is going on Sale to celebrate our nomination in the "Game of the Year" category of the VR Forever awards!
This is the first time this event has been held and there are over 130 participating games, inc. new releases, demos and announced games.
The event is from September 18th to 23rd and to celebrate, the game is discounted until the end of the event!

The Skyscrapper is the deadly new training tower for looprunners in Clone Drone in the Hyperdome, the centerpiece of our new free update. The diabolical infinity tower was built out of busted robot parts and assorted scrap from Crashloop, but on the development side, a brand new element helped make The Skyscrapper possible: a dynamic dialogue commentary system. In Danger Zone, Commentatron and Analysis-Bot speak fixed lines of dialogue at predetermined moments, but in The Skyscrapper, the robot commentators have thousands of lines of dialogue that play throughout the player’s climb at unexpected times for more immersive gameplay.
We have two of our team who are excited to talk to you about the commentators!
First is a video with Geoffrey, our Narrative Lead, talking about the story and how Commentatron and Analysis Bot are starring in The Skyscrapper!
In the second interview with Ayla, our Lead Engineer, we discussed why she built a dialogue system from scratch and how it greatly expanded the functionality of everyone’s favorite human-hating robot broadcasters.
How is this different from a normal dialogue system?
For games with a traditional story mode, the code to decide which piece of dialogue to play at which moment is often relatively straightforward. Sometimes it’s as easy as setting up a trigger area to play a specific piece of dialogue when the player enters that location, or storing a list of dialogue IDs that should be played in sequence. There might be situations where the narrative branches, but that could be as simple as an “if else” check.
With the Skyscrapper being an endless mode, we wanted to place the narrative focus on the player’s progression upwards through this infinite tower of robot carnage. We didn’t just want to respond to the player’s actions. We wanted to form narratives and miniature storylines about what the player was doing as they did it. And to do something like that, we needed an entirely new narrative engine.
How do the commentators “see” your actions that they’re tracking in a technical sense?
At its core, what this new narrative engine does is pretty easy to understand. We have a massive pool of dialogue that could be played and we simply choose the most appropriate piece of dialogue and play that, and just do that over and over again as the player advances through The Skyscrapper. Then the problem we’re trying to solve becomes: How do we determine which piece of dialogue is the most appropriate to play at which points in time?
The starting point for that is triggers. Whenever you start a new run of The Skyscrapper, or kill an enemy, or pick up a weapon, or use a turbofist, or die, or respawn… that’s a trigger, meaning it’s an opportunity to play some dialogue. Each piece of dialogue knows what it could be triggered by. So, for example, when you slice a robot in half, we know that’s an appropriate time for Analysis-Bot to say, “That robot is now spare parts.”
But if we left it at that, the whole thing would get boring pretty quickly. So the next step along the path of making a system that really responds to the player’s actions is adding the ability to check conditions. It’s not just that the player killed an enemy. It’s that they killed the Captain and they did it with a knife and therefore it’s an especially appropriate time for Commentatron to say, “Blink defeated their biggest opponent with our tiniest weapon!”
The commentators build a story of each run as you progress. How does the system support this style of commentary storytelling?
The ingredient that really brings the dialogue to life is the ability to look not just at what’s currently happening on-screen, but at what’s happened in the past as well. Our new narrative engine allows us to keep track of the player’s deaths, the enemies they’ve killed, what lines of dialogue they’ve already heard, and any number of flags and counters that allow us to really hone the dialogue the player hears to exactly what they’ve experienced.
That gives us the ability to set up miniature storylines with appropriate pay-offs down the line. So Commentatron might place a bet that the player will beat their high score at the start of a run and if the player succeeds, then Commentatron will follow-up and gloat about having been correct.
What was it like working on a brand new commentator system? How did you work together with our narrative lead?
Building the new narrative engine from scratch was a challenge. It’s not just about writing the code to make it work. It’s about documenting how it works, so others can follow along, about championing the system so that everyone else is bought in, about making the tools necessary to debug it and work with it.
And most importantly, it’s about responding to feedback. A big part of building this system was working alongside Geoffrey, our Narrative Lead, and incorporating his input on what features would give him the most creative control. At the end of the day, that’s the true goal of any system like this: to give artists the freedom to tell the story they want to tell.
Do you have a favourite voice line?
In the release version of Clone Drone in the Hyperdome, there’s a line where Analysis-Bot says, “It makes me want to malfunction!,” which I still mutter to myself sometimes when a piece of code I wrote isn’t working.
Who is your favourite: Commentatron or Analysis Bot?
Commentatron and Analysis-Bot are one inseparable unit. Our very own Statler and Waldorf. There can be no Commentatron OR Analysis Bot, there is only Commentatron AND Analysis-Bot.

We love and appreciate all the glowing feedback and amazing fan art you’ve sent us. Check out some of our recent faves after the Patch Notes.
HOWEVER, we want Clone Drone in the Hyperdome to be the best. To be the best, you have to bash the bugs. So we grabbed a Captain Hammer and got bashing!
You said the katana was wobbling too much when held with one hand. We agreed! So we reduced the weight of two-handed weapons to make them more fun to handle.
You said Cyclord was the weakest looprunner. We agreed! Now his arrow storm is a true cyclone and his arrows fly faster than ever.
You said you heard the same lines of dialogue repeatedly when picking up weapons in The Skyscrapper. We agreed! So we put more words into the commentators’ metal mouths.
What do you think? Do you like the feel of two handed weapons now? Are they the right weight? Have you dueled the new and improved Cyclord? Was it a breeze or a hard-fought battle? Are there any other bugs or glitches that frustrate you?

Welcome to The Skyscrapper, Humans!
The new update is out with a ton of new content! We’ve been listening to your feedback to improve the game and one of the biggest things that we heard was that you wanted to play more once the Crashloop was finished! That’s why we added The Skyscrapper, a brand new way to play when you’ve finished the Crashloop story.
Tell us the highest floor you’ve been able to reach in the comments or on our Discord and compete with the rest of the community!
Battle up infinite floors of increasing difficulty! Each level has a different combination of Enemies and theme to keep your experience fresh. The Commentators will watch and make “encouraging” quips with each of your actions.
New Features:
A whole new game mode has opened in Hyperdome: Skyscrapper Mode!
An endless tower of robot destruction! The door to the training room has opened up and revealed a new area. Once you have beaten the Crashloop story mode, the Skyscrapper will rise from the wreckage and give you infinite floors of robot fighting.
The higher you go, the harder it gets!
Earn rewards after each difficulty tier to replace clones or upgrade Turbofists
Each floor has a theme: Swapped weapons! Just Halberd Bots! 10 Captains?!
Fight more than one clone of the same Looprunner!
The commentators keep track of your progress and “encourage” you with unique lines of banter for different milestones. Reach a new personal best? They’ll comment on it. Pick up your favourite weapon? They’ll share their opinions!
What’s the highest floor you can reach?
Cutting Resistance - Change how fast you need to swing to damage enemies!
This is a new setting so you can adapt the difficulty of your battles.
Brains! New green brains have been added to enemy heads. Attacking the head requires the CPU of enemies to be destroyed before they’re defeated.
Two handed weapon handling options
You can now pick how two handed weapons work:
Angle and movement following the top hand
Angle and movement based on position of both hands
New Fire Katana and Fire Halberd weapons!
Enemy AI/behavior improvements:
Enemies have new moves!
The Captain, MX2 and Mark 3 Samurai Bots can riposte. After clashing swords with you, they might try to strike at you while your guard is down.

Hello Humans!
For the next update, we are working to address major feedback we have received from the community following the launch:
The game needs more difficulty options
There is nothing to do after you conquer the Hyperdome
The door to the training room leads nowhere???
I will now turn it over to the stars of our next update, who will tell you all about our exciting new game mode…
The Skyscrapper: Infinite Combat in Tower-Form
Commentatron: Greetings, pathetic humans!
Analysis-Bot: You are made of skin, blood, and hair, which confuses and infuriates us!!!
Commentatron: We are launching The Skyscrapper, an endless tower and industrial training gym built from Crashloop’s scrapheap.
Analysis-Bot: No human could ever climb this infinitely-tall skyscraper of robot battlefields. They would crawl into a corner to cry and wait for death.
Analysis-Bot: The Skyscrapper is for looprunners only, which is who we are addressing from this point on!!!
Commentatron: After defeating The Captain, you will enter a tube in the loading room.
Commentatron: Once you are spit out in front of The Skyscrapper, you will beam up to the first floor to brawl with defendroids, looprunner clones, surprise enemies, and terrifyingly new hazards.
Analysis-Bot: We have the lava and turrets you love, and now the sawblades, crushing walls, and spinning blade traps you soon will crave!!!
Commentatron: What happens when a looprunner climbs to the top of The Skyscrapper?
Analysis-Bot: Error! Trick Question Detected!
Analysis-Bot: There is no top floor. Combat is infinite. Each floor is tougher than the last. It is gloriously brutal!!!
Commentatron: Excellent analysis. Looprunners will climb as high as possible, endlessly fighting robots, until all their clones are sliced into scrap! How long can you survive The Skyscrapper?
Analysis-Bot: Push your combat skills to the limit and find out.
Commentatron: The best part of The Skyscrapper is… us. Your beloved commentators will be on every floor calling the action play-by-play!
Analysis-Bot: We will provide you with supportive encouragement at every step of the climb.
…
Commentatron: Ha. Ha. Ha.
Analysis-Bot: Ha. Ha. Ha. Can you imagine?
Analysis-Bot: No! We will be rooting for your painful annihilation.
Commentatron:The Skyscrapper is opening soon. In the meantime, close your eyes and imagine how fun it will be to witness your metal body being sliced in half by a sawblade.
Analysis-Bot: Glorious! Back to you, meat sack game developers!
Bugs and Quality of Robot Life!
We don’t consider ourselves “meat sacks.” More like skeletons with extra bits.
Moving on. In parallel to the Skyscrapper work, we're also exploring how to make enemies more interesting and fun.
Don't worry, if you already think the game is hard, the lower level bots won't change in a way that will make it harder for you! We want you to see their attack coming, but still have a chance to die. :)
While we're working on the above two things we've also fixed a ton of bugs and addressed random things that did not feel good.
Physics Smoothing: Hands moved slower than the framerate, but we fixed that!!! All rigidbodies involved in combat now interpolate their state which creates a much smoother feel. Bloom is prettier: The glow around weapons is now much prettier from all angles. Yay! Teleporting is better: The player no longer jerks around or gets their weapon stuck in the ground every time they teleport.
We’ll announce a release date in the future once we're confident that the new SkyScrapper Mode is ready for you all to play!
Release notes (1.0.1.3): Fixed bug where barge would not move in one of the new duel levels Fixed bug where lava would sometimes not kill you in various duel levels

Humans of Earth! Thank you for being among the first to enter the Crashloop and challenge The Captain for his glorious title. We have been closely listening to your feedback since our launch last week. Our conclusion is that our players are a particularly intelligent and observant collection of humans. This first update includes important improvements, many we began working on this week, and a few that were already “in the works,” to use a colloquial human phrase. Here are some of the highlights for you to absorb with your fleshy brain!
Left Hand Support
Apparently some humans favor their left hand in combat, as opposed to their right. (Humans are a fascinating species!) We added support for holding two handed weapons with your left hand at the top of the handle or the right hand. We also added an optional setting to swap the thumbsticks on your controllers. Now you can obliterate your enemies with maximum comfort by massacring robots with your favorite human hand!
Looprunners Use Different Turbofists:
Looprunners have been hesitant to use each other’s turbofists in duels. Hesitation is impermissable! Now we’re forcing looprunners to not just capture each other’s turbofists, but also unleash their power in battle! Are you prepared to face a shuriken attack from FLAMEWAR? Or fight off zombies created by Knightmode? Hopefully you answered “yes,” because we put that into the game! (The only exception is the Hand Extension Fist. The looprunners aren’t ready to extend their hands just yet… but soon.)
Increased Difficulty:
Some humans, the ones who are not yet completely decapitated, crave more challenging robot combat. We love to witness more human deaths, so we made a number of small changes: we fixed a bug allowing players to dash faster than intended, populated hard crawls with more varied and challenging defendroids, added a deadly new duel arena level, and made the Hyperdome a touch more daunting. We look forward to implementing even more challenging combat in the near future. Be afraid!
Turbofist Combination Screen:
You can combine turbofists to give yourself new powers in the Crashloop. What are those powers? Find out by going to the shop and visiting the new interactive display, which informs humans about all the turbofists and their combinations as you unlock them. Can you unlock all 42 turbofist combinations? We highly doubt humans are capable of such mastery.
Hundreds More Narrative Animations:
Many humans enjoy conversing with their fellow looprunners in the Loading Room (as well as destroying and humiliating them with KO streaks). Those conversations are now more expressive with the addition of 600+ unique dialogue animations. Now every spoken line in the game has a custom animation. In the Loading Room, the looprunners are more animated. In the Crashloop, they will squash and stretch you!
Bug Fixes:
The bug fixes are small improvements. They are not as glamorous as the changes noted above, but we squashed a lot of bugs in a short amount of time and that deserves acknowledgement!!!
We will continue to listen to human feedback as we make changes to the game. We also reserve the right to abduct humans, dissect their brains, and suck the thoughts out of them directly, if we so choose.
Patch Notes (1.0.1.2):
Added better support for holding two handed weapons with the left hand.
Added a setting to swap thumbsticks between controllers.
Looprunners can now use each other’s turbofists in duels, except for the Hand Extension Fist.
Looprunners now buy turbofists from eliminated looprunners in the shop.
Fixed a bug that allowed players to dash faster than intended.
Improved difficulty progression in levels by spawning more easy enemies in early levels and more challenging enemies in later levels.
Added more randomized variations to levels.
Added a new looprunner duel arena level.
Changed The Captain’s combat to make him a little more challenging.
Added a new turbofist combination screen in the shop.
Added 600+ new narrative animations.
Added coin count display when choosing between doors.
Improved triple threat battles by increasing barge speed and decreasing the time to respawn.
Added new art for the Hand Extension Fist and the Armor Fist.
Improved the selection of weapons offered in the shop.
Added new backgrounds for screen broadcasts.
Fixed turbofist spawning at the end of lightning runs.
Fixed issue with looprunners appearing in the Hyperdome on subsequent runs after The Captain is defeated.
Fixed a bug where doors sometimes wouldn’t unlock after a duel.
Fixed music not playing or getting stuck in certain levels (e.g. The Gauntlet).
Fixed issues with cutting and jumping sounds.
Added missing sounds for some animations.
Mixed the audio.
Fixed subtitles not appearing in The Degausser.
Fixed various erroneous subtitles.
Fixed various minor bugs.

We are very excited to announce that our new game Clone Drone in the Hyperdome is launching on December 12th for Steam for PC VR and Meta Store for Oculus 2 and 3! We hope you enjoy the new trailer!
In Clone Drone in the Hyperdome, sword fight with killer robots in an all-out VR tournament of death! You are Blink, a teleporting robot who is the newest “looprunner” gladiator forced to compete in Crashloop, a deadly roguelike combat sport. Die and reawaken in an endless loop, leap over lava pools, avoid turret fire, take down waves of enemy defendroids, and feel your sword disintegrate their metal bodies. Deal damage exactly where your cut lands using our stunning voxel combat engine! To win your freedom, battle your fellow looprunners for a chance to fight the Captain in the Hyperdome…
Combat Precision & Epic Voxel Destruction
The ability to cut robots with swords has never felt better! Players can slice robots arms, legs, and heads off with their sword precisely where they aimed, but they’ll need to be careful because their enemies can do the same to them.
Incredible Weapon Selection
Inside the Crashloop, players can choose from a wide variety of weapons, including broadswords, scythes, axes, and shields. Every looprunner mini-boss has their own unique weapon called a turbofist, which players can acquire by defeating them in duels or triple threat matches.
Combat Relationships
After a run in the Crashloop, players are sent back to the loading room, where they’ll confront the same looprunners they just battled. The player’s decisions of who they attacked and when will determine their relationships with the other looprunners.
Roguelike Tournament to the Death
The player is the newest looprunner in the Crashloop, a deadly combat arena that changes every run through. To win a run in Crashloop, the player must be the last survivor of the tournament, where they battle other looprunners to the death, so they can move on to fight The Captain in the Hyperdome.
All New Gameplay Experience, Fit for VR
The Clone Drone in the Hyperdome experience, building off the success of Doborog’s indie hit Clone Drone in the Danger Zone, brings robot fighting to VR with new content, characters, story and more. The game has been built from the ground up to push what it's possible to do in VR forward, such as implementing physics based sword combat and interactions optimized for the best VR gameplay experience.
Clone Drone in the Hyperdome is launching on December 12th, 2024 and will be available on the Meta Store for Oculus 2 and 3 and Steam for PC VR.
