I've been looking into improving PieClicker a lot recently, including changes that would finally enable the Steam overlay in more capacity. Another thing I really want to do is add Linux support since Windows 10 support will be ending in 2025.
The underlying technology PieClicker was built on is great and works decently for Windows, unfortunately that's just not what I need anymore. In order to move forward and preserve all the game save files you guys have made, I've pushed out an update that will start to integrate a new file save system.
I fully plan on supporting all features in future Windows and Linux compatible versions. So you'll still be able to get Steam achievements. :)
In order to make sure your save gets preserved in the transfer make sure you open the game at least once in the next 6 months. That's it. All you need to do is make sure you open the game and let the main menu load. Then you should be good!
One more slightly technical detail, due to the location the new save files are stored in, cloud syncs might take slightly longer than usual.
To repeat: If you don't want your save data deleted all you need to do is open the game until the main menu loads ONCE in the next 6 months.

This update doesn't bring any serious changes to game play, it's mostly a performance and background systems update. I want the game to be in a better state for future content updates, especially since PieClicker's Steam anniversary is next month. Anyway, here's what changed:
- Removed last traces of mod support
- Reworked how the game launches to be more smooth, ex. no white screen flashing randomly
- Updated all of the code libraries to latest versions
- Changed underlying rendering engine, this should help with Steam overlay issues, when testing I got notifications to show up in the game, this also lowered the overall size of the game slightly
- Verified that the max master chef upgrade achievement is 100% working again, hotfix will remain in place until next month for anyone who missed it
- Massively improved performance on upgrade purchase animations
Edit because I forgot another major change:
- I seriously reduced the number of files that Steam saves in the cloud, this will not affect your saved games at all but it will make future cloud syncs a lot faster, the first one will probably take a minute to process all the changes but everything after that should be much faster
- I probably reduced the number of files saved (on average) from 300 -> 8
Since there are some pretty groundbreaking changes here I'm anticipating some bugs here and there, small stuff that I missed in testing ykyk. I'll be keeping an eye on things and issuing patches as needed.
Addressed an issue causing max master chef upgrade to not be given. If you haven't gotten it yet but got all the chef upgrades just load the save again and you should get it. I also believe it has been fixed at the core.

- Upgrade design has been updated to be more dynamic, reducing the number of assets required (might be buggy if not in fullscreen mode or if using a non-standard aspect ratio)
- Nuclear meltdown event will now cost more pies
- Added "Travis Scott concert" as a natural disaster in the Bakery Collapse event
- Buffed Headquarters upgrade (200 PPS + 200 PPC -> 5000 PPS + 5000 PPC)
- Cost of inter-planetary war event has been significantly increased
- Nerfed some of the empire upgrades, buffed some others
- Rebuilt animation handler (might be a little buggy but I think I got it pretty close to the original)
- Fixed rare bug where game tick event wouldn't start after loading a game
- Fixed rare bug where the pie could stop registering clicks after some time if music was disabled
- Started prep to change graphics engine, this should solve issues with steam achievements not showing up right away and overlay issues.
Please report any new bugs using the steam community or the built in bug report feature! I'll try and address them ASAP.

- Changed cost multiplier on 'Revamp Kitchens' from 10 -> 9
- Changed cost multiplier on 'Rocket Ship' from 1000 -> 100
- Changed cost multiplier on 'Rolling Pins' from 2.5 -> 1.5
- Added a new modifier/temp upgrade called 'Research'
- Updated list of foreign nations/empires

- Scenarios have an *extremely* small chance of breaking the 4th wall now (for the current session) assuming you got a 1/5 research result
- If you're scenarios break the 4th wall there is a small chance of your workers rebelling against you. Currently not much can happen but I'm hoping to let you end the world/universe in a future update.

Thanks for all the feedback on PieClicker recently, hopefully this update will address as many issues as possible while adding plenty of content to the game! As usual, any bugs or extra requests can be made to the PieClicker community tab.
A feature I want to talk about for a second are "scenarios". These are events that can change the overall "story" of PieClicker and add some engagement. Here's an example, if you buy a Nuclear Pie Reactor there is a chance it has a meltdown, if this happens, you're prompted with choices. Since this is a very new feature I'd like feedback on it!
Without further ado, here is the changelog.
- Removed secret settings achievement
- Removed broken mod achievement
- Added minimum window size for PieClicker
- Added MOTD/Game tips on the main menu
- Added new data merge system to smoothly copy save data to new update
- Added additional number abbreviations
- Added a new game modifier
- Added a rocket ship upgrade
- Added achievements for 50, 100, and 150 purchased (Chefs, Ovens, Flyers, and Rolling Pins only for now)
- Added game scenarios
- Updated Nuclear Pie Reactor cost
- Updated game credits
