The Diary officially launched on June 20, and it's now been a week since release. We'd like to take a moment to connect with you and share some thoughts.
Since launch, we’ve been carefully reading through your feedback—whether it’s encouragement, criticism, or thoughtful suggestions. Some diary readers have expressed concerns such as:
"There’s just not enough content to justify the price."
"I’m not sure what the story is really about—it feels too vague."
"It looks nice, but I finished it too quickly and was left a bit disappointed."
These are just a few examples, but they echo three common themes: limited content, unclear storytelling, and pricing concerns. We’d like to address these topics directly and offer some insight into the intentions behind the game.
1. About the Game’s Direction and Intent
From the very beginning, our vision for The Diary was to create something closer to an interactive story—an experience similar in spirit to Florence. Rather than focusing on complex puzzles or gameplay mechanics, we aimed to tell a gentle, emotionally resonant narrative that unfolds through mood, pacing, and small moments.
We understand that some diary readers may have expected more gameplay depth or a more traditional story arc. If the experience didn’t align with those expectations, we truly understand—and we take responsibility for not communicating our creative direction more clearly before release. We hope this message helps provide some clarity.
2. About the “Confusing Story”
When crafting the script, we debated whether to reveal the plot or leave intentional gaps fully. Ultimately, we chose the latter, deliberately omitting direct references to the key “plan” in the narrative. We aimed to provide space for interpretation, allowing players to uncover the story’s mysteries through reflection. However, we recognize that we may not have struck the right balance between revelation and ambiguity.
3. About “Limited Content”
We’ve received suggestions to include more diary entries to flesh out the story’s twists and developments. This ties into our earlier point about intentionally keeping certain elements understated. However, we understand this approach may have clashed with some expectations. We’re currently discussing whether additional content could help address these narrative gaps, though this will take time to evaluate.
Every piece of feedback—positive or critical—has been taken to heart. Since the project began two years ago, The Diary has faced many challenges, and it was only recently completed. We acknowledge that we haven’t fully met everyone’s expectations. Moving forward, we will consider all your suggestions and feedback to explore ways to enhance and refine the game experience.
