Congratulations Borealis, you'll be immortalized in the ⁠#hall-of-fame and the game credits (in the next update), you have a shiny role on discord with access to a secret channel and you'll have a tile of your own design integrated into the game!

Borealis strategy to win:

Pause the real-time timer. The first turn is by far the most important (followed by the last), so don't hesitate to restart if your opening isn't strong. Your goal on turn 1 is to maximize Science and set up your economy: collect the shipwreck and treasure chests, upgrade your Home into a Forge, clear the first Crypts, destroy the eastern Obelisk, reveal the northern Elves, Great Tree, and the first Light Breaches, then start building Cow Pastures.

The exact order matters, as some actions increase the rewards from others.

Once you reveal the 4th Light Breach, destroy the remaining Obelisks while keeping their costs low. The 5th Light Breach is far west through the swamp, where the Ogre event grants 2 Workforce.

In the northwest, claim the treasure chest before the Crypt to increase its rewards. Prioritize Cow Pastures for most resource generation (except Production). Free the Orcs during their event, and make peace with the Elf camps after building a few Mines first. Use Observatories, Wisps, and Light Breaches for Light—don't build Wells.

Research priority: Tree of Life → Forge → Barracks → Market → Cow Pasture → Royal Farm (final turn). Optional: Carpenter and Pyramid.

Finally, never let Food overflow. Trade excess Food for Workforce with the Market and Druid, and always keep at least one forest available (ideally east of your Home) so the Druid can spawn and trade additional Science.

It’s time for a new community contest. This one is called Famine. I also have some juicy news, I'll keep that for the end of this post.

The last contest winner Thunderbird designed a new tile for the game, the "Crypt", and you'll find it in this new contest!

Until now, all the contest were about completing an objective in as few days as possible, not this time!

The objective is simple, have the biggest production of food possible by day 100.

Everyone who participates will be immortalized on the public leaderboard and win 100 blue lights in game!

But only the best player will enter the Circle of the Champions of Light:

✨ Design your own unique tile in Dawnfolk (will appear in-game!)

✨ Immortalized in Dawnfolk's Hall Of Fame and in the game credits.

✨ A fancy Discord role at the top of the member list

✨ Access to a secret channel reserved for the top players

To participate:

1. Update the game to version 1.5.0

2. Unlock Secrets in the main menu (earn more blue lights if needed 👀)

3. The contest is at the bottom of the Secrets menu

Your score is automatically submitted to the public leaderboard. You should definitely join the discord to chat with the other contestant and see screenshots of their attempts! A screenshot of your final map will be sent automatically on the discord server. Feel free to chat below in the replies too.

You have until July 13th to complete the challenge.

About that juicy news: Dawnfolk has a new publisher, and it's none other than Klei. They make and publish sick games that I love like Don't Starve, Oxygen Not Included, The Stanley Parable and more.

I'm grateful to my previous publisher, Astra Logical, for supporting the game and helping fund its development, translations, and QA.

With Klei's support, I'm convinced we can bring Dawnfolk to more players and make it even better. I'm honored that they believe in the game and it's now part of their insane catalog. I'm excited to see where this goes!
