Ahoy, Sailors – the new Beacon Patrol Demo is here! 🚢⚓
The updated demo has just docked, and it brings a boatload of improvements with it! This isn’t just a small patch — it’s a big step forward that gives you a much clearer and more polished taste of the full Beacon Patrol experience.
And before we forget: We’ve also got new crew on board! We’re thrilled to share that we’ve teamed up with the capable landsmen at Assemble Entertainment, who are now supporting us on the publishing side of things for Beacon Patrol! They’ll be helping us spread the word across the seven seas — and beyond. Welcome aboard, Assemble! ⚓
Now, back to you! We want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who played the previous demo and First Horizons. Your feedback was incredibly valuable and helped shape many of the changes you’ll find in this update.
Here's what’s new:
- 🗺️ New Localizations – Added additional language support for the demo
- 🆕 Updated Tutorial – No more rule sheets! A step-by-step system now guides you through the game.
- 🌊 Exploration Mode – A digitally exclusive mode with progression, unlockables, and cozy missions.
- 💾 Auto-Save System – Your patrols are now saved at the start of each turn.
- 🎧 Audio Overhaul – Enjoy new music and a host of cozy sound effects.
- 🎮 Better Gamepad Support – Redesigned controls for intuitive play on Steam Deck and beyond.
- 🔍 Custom Zoom Options – Adjust direction and sensitivity to your liking.
- 🛠️ Improved UX + Bug Fixes – Smoother than ever.
The new demo acts as a “lite” version of the full game’s Exploration Mode, giving you a limited—but meaningful—slice of what’s to come.

It’s always a good thing to be multilingual when you’re out on the wild waters.
The demo officially supports the following languages:

Note: This doesn’t mean we won’t add more languages in the future. We’re constantly evaluating new options as we sail toward release. Stay tuned!
No more overwhelming rule sheet at the start!
We now have a step-by-step tutorial system to guide you through the basics. Forgot something? No worries—you can revisit any part of the tutorial via the pause menu.
Our new digitally exclusive Exploration Mode lets you unlock new ships, abilities, tiles, and cosmetics by completing missions.
Don’t worry: the board game mode is still there and fully accessible. Exploration Mode is just a new way to play!
Check out all unlockable content and cosmetics in the new Treasury menu! You can preview unlocked items and see how to unlock the rest. Most of them unlock naturally just by playing—no backflips required.
You asked for it, we delivered: The game now does an autosave at the beginning of every turn, and you have three save slots available per game mode.
Just pause and return to the main menu—or close the game—your progress will be safe.
There’s too much to list, but here’s a taste:

- Smooth transitions between menus and gameplay
We’ve completely reworked gamepad controls and UI. No more switching between movement and placement modes—it's now seamless and intuitive!
