Update 0.8.1 is now live for Damned 2.
This is one of our biggest gameplay-focused updates so far in Early Access. It brings a full Blight rework, a new Light Visibility System, the first version of our Replay System, new survivor interaction animations, and a wide range of fixes and optimizations.
The main focus of this update is Blight. He now has more ways to control the map, track survivors, and build pressure before entering Hunt Mode. At the same time, the new visibility system adds a new layer to how survivors manage darkness, light, and sanity.
Blight has been fully reworked with new abilities, new mechanics, and improved feedback across all 3 stages.
In Stage 1, he can absorb light, place Void portals, and use Floating Light to control space, reveal survivors, and gather energy.
Once he reaches Stage 2, Blight becomes faster, gains access to Jump, and becomes the only monster able to interact with light switches through Light Possession. This allows him to turn lights on and absorb their energy.
Stage 2 also introduces a new layer of counterplay.
If Blight is illuminated by any light source, he becomes partially visible to survivors.
But using a flashlight against him is risky. If a survivor shines a flashlight directly on Blight, he can briefly see a ghostly image of that player, absorb the flashlight's light, cause the flashlight to flicker, and gain a significant burst of energy toward Hunt Mode.
In other words, light can expose Blight, but it can also help him reach Hunt Mode faster. At full energy, Blight can enter Hunt Mode. His energy drains over time until he returns to Stage 1.
Blight can also create a Void portal in front of him and instantly teleport back to it at any time. This opens up new possibilities for ambushes, repositioning, and mind games.
NEW LIGHT VISIBILITY SYSTEM
This update also adds a new Light Visibility System that directly affects survivors.
A new eye-shaped icon at the center of the screen now shows how exposed your character is to light.
The darker you are, the more closed the eye becomes
As you become illuminated, the eye gradually opens
Light from the environment, another survivor's flashlight, or even your own flashlight can affect visibility
This system helps players understand two things at once:
How visible they are
How much danger they are in while moving through darkness
If you are deep in the dark, your sanity drains faster.
If you are fully exposed to light, you are easier to detect.
During Blight's Hunt Mode, if a survivor becomes fully illuminated, the eye turns red and Blight can track that survivor even through walls until they return to darkness.
This system is also an important foundation for more light-based mechanics we want to expand on in future updates.
IMPROVED HUNT FEEDBACK
We also improved how survivors read dangerous moments against Blight.
When Blight spots a survivor during Hunt Mode, survivors now hear hunt music and receive a red eye warning. This makes those encounters clearer and more intense.
REPLAY SYSTEM (FIRST VERSION)
The first version of the Replay System is now available.
Matches are now recorded automatically
A new Replay Manager button has been added to the main menu
Players can store up to 5 replays at a time
Since this is the first version of the system, you may still run into bugs or limitations while we continue improving it throughout Early Access. We wanted to get it into players' hands now and start building on it.

Hi everyone,
We hope you all had a good end of the year and managed to get some rest during the holidays. We’re back from the break and continuing work on Damned 2.
What’s next
Our current focus will be:
A gameplay rework for Blight, improving balance and overall feel.
Bringing Fallen, a classic monster from the original game, back to Damned 2. We’re putting extra care into her return.
Christmas Event
The Christmas event will remain active until February 2, so there’s still time to unlock the Christmas Lantern.
After the event ends:
All regular gifts will be removed from all maps.
Some unlockables will no longer be obtainable:
Banner – Under the Dead Tree
Flashlight – Santa’s Gloomlights
Feedback
Let us know what you think about the new Mary, and feel free to share any feedback about the game. Our Discord community is very active, and we’d love to have you join us there.

The Christmas Update is now live in Damned 2.
This update focuses on two main goals. First, a complete rework of Mary, shifting her gameplay away from invisibility and toward constant pressure, unpredictability, and map control. Second, the start of the Christmas Event, bringing limited-time rewards and new objectives across all maps.
Christmas Event
The Christmas Event is available for a limited time and is designed to encourage exploration and interaction across the maps.
Added 3 new flashlight skins and 1 animated banner to unlock.
Gifts have been added to all maps.
Each map contains one unique special gift required to complete the event tasks.
Gifts can be seen by both survivors and the monster.
Mary Remake
Mary has been completely redesigned to create a more active and strategic hunter. Instead of relying on invisibility, she now focuses on presence, pressure, and unpredictability throughout the match.
Core Changes
These changes redefine how Mary moves through the map and manages her resources.
Removed Mary’s invisible form.
Mary can now possess objects and use dolls while in Haunt form.
Mary loses Haunt energy at the same rate she gains berserk energy.
When Haunt energy reaches zero, Mary randomly teleports every 50 seconds, then refills her energy.
Random teleport does not select the current room, elevators, or survivors’ starting rooms.
Abilities
Mary’s abilities were adjusted to reward positioning, timing, and decision-making rather than constant aggression.
Mind Trace
Cooldown reduced from 90 to 45 seconds.
Teleports Mary to a random room when no survivors are inside a Cursed Doll’s vision.
Can be used while on cooldown by consuming berserk energy.
Mind Reach
Pull cooldown increased from 4 to 6 seconds.
Blink
Cooldown increased from 4 to 18 seconds.
Mary can now phase through locked doors while visible.
Added a new visual effect when phasing through doors.
Cursed Dolls
Drop distance increased from 300 to 400.
Additional Changes
To reinforce her identity as a map-controlling threat, Mary also received the following adjustments.
Mary can now interact with doors from afar using her mind.
Berserk energy gain over time while haunting has been reduced by 60%.
Simplified Mary
The simplified version of Mary was adjusted to better communicate her core mechanics while remaining accessible.
Gains more berserk energy when close to survivors.
Gains less berserk energy when extremely close to survivors.
Passive berserk energy gain increased from 180 to 220.
No longer slides while berserk.
Can use Mind Trace.
Simplified Lurker
Lurker’s simplified version was tuned to feel more aggressive and consistent during hunts.
Invisible movement speed increased from 660 to 700.
Hunt duration increased to 40 seconds.
Time to reach full energy reduced from 145 to 120.
Energy loss when transforming increased from 6 to 10.
General Balance
Several systemic changes were made to improve consistency, readability, and player control during encounters.
Added a new game option: No Door Knockback.
Survivors are no longer pushed when monsters force doors open.
Monsters now move doors with the same strength as survivors at Normal Strength.
At Strong Strength, monsters move doors faster.
Monster AI difficulty no longer affects door-moving speed.
Monster AI can now see flashlight light through glass.
AI Improvements
AI behavior was adjusted to better reflect player expectations and improve overall fairness.
Door push strength now scales with monster strength, only being slower at Faint strength.
Monster AI can now hear objects being hit or broken.
UI
A small quality-of-life improvement was added to communication.
Added a button to switch teams directly in the in-game chat.
Fixes
This update also includes multiple fixes and consistency improvements across the game.
Fixed monsters being unable to interact with some lids.
Fixed physics objects highlighting while being held.
Fixed Blight jumping through walls.
Fixed incorrect key display in Game Help on Low.
Fixed monster AI attacking after the match ended.
Fixed heart becoming invisible for the monster when returning from invisibility.
Fixed minor tutorial issues.
Fixed collision problems.
Improved consistency of the number of objects that can be possessed by the monster.
Added some extra bugs.
What’s Next
With Mary’s rework complete, our focus now shifts to what comes next for Damned 2. We are currently working on a full rework of Blight, while also bringing back Fallen, a monster originally introduced in Damned 1, redesigned and reimagined to fit Damned 2’s gameplay and systems. More details will be shared as development progresses.
Thank you for playing and for continuing to share your feedback with us.
From the two of us at 9heads Games, we wish you a great holiday season.

Lantern Skins

Hello Everyone!
We are happy to announce that our first content update for Damned 2 is now live!
This update brings one of the biggest new mechanics so far: the Blood Oracle. Survivors can now sacrifice the Heart at the Blood Altar to summon the Blood Whisper, a spectral guide that points to the next missing item. It’s a way to help when progress stalls, while still keeping the tension high because the monster cansee the Heart and hears your voice chat while you’re carrying it.
New Feature: Blood Oracle
Blood Altar
Assists survivors in finding lost items by summoning the Blood Whisper.
Survivors must locate the Sacrificial Heart and place it on the altar.
Monsters cannot see or collide with the altar.
The Sacrificial Heart
Spawns in one of the already opened rooms a few minutes into a match.
The altar can reveal the Heart’s location or show the timer for the next spawn.
When active, the Heart emits a global directional heartbeat and moves around the map.
If carried, the monster can see the Heart and hear the carrier’s VOIP, and the AI becomes aware of the holder.
If not picked up within 3 minutes, the Heart respawns in another room.
The Blood Whisper
Slowly guides survivors to the next key or puzzle item.
Will not appear if survivors already hold an unused key or if there are unsolved puzzles, though the altar will still point to what’s missing.
Disappears once the guided item is collected; then a new Heart spawns.
Available Difficulty Modes
Beginner – First Heart at 4 minutes; new Heart spawns 1 minute after the last item is collected.
Normal – First Heart at 5 minutes; new Heart spawns 3 minutes later.
Limited – First Heart at 7 minutes; new Hearts spawn 5 minutes later. Limited to 2 total.
No Altar – Removes all altars from the map.
Banners
4 New banners for you to collect.
The Heart: Use the Blood Oracle 4 times.
Blood Altar: Use the Blood Oracle 13 times in a match with the Normal Preset against a monster.
Blood God: With 4 survivors, win using the Impossible Preset against Mary AI on Rose Crimson, and activate the Blood Altar 2 times during the match.
Host of the Damned: Complete 20 games in a public lobby.
Gameplay
Survivor lives now persist across the match. Players who reconnect return with the same lives they had before disconnecting.
Players who rejoin with zero lives cannot select a survivor that is still alive.
Players joining mid-game cannot take a dead survivor slot if a living one is available.
Maps
Added Blood Altars to all maps (one guaranteed in the main corridor/room; others may appear randomly).
Adjusted collision to prevent objects from getting stuck.
Added more puzzles across maps to reduce chances of puzzle shortages.
UI
Survivors can now see the remaining lives of other survivors.
Improved voice chat feedback.
Fixes
Escape door light now updates correctly for late-joining players.
Possible fix for Blight not attacking when too close.
Fixed client updates after leaving the profile menu.
Fixed inconsistent breakable object pieces.
Possible fix for breakable objects not auto-picking up.
Removed buzzing sounds from lights that shouldn’t have them.
Fixed a potential soft lock at Clandestine Hospital due to an incorrect spawn.
Fixed disappearing mouse when tutorial + chat were open.
Possible fix for puzzle letters not appearing on the ground.
Fixed valve rotation lock when survivors added valves too quickly.
Fixed some puzzles floating.
Fixed inventory items not clearing when a player left the game.
Fixed small issue with Blight’s energy bar UI.
Possible fix for profile window showing the wrong player.
Fixed a potential soft lock with the Oracle’s Gemstone puzzle at the Missing Warehouse.
What’s Next
We’re already working on the next steps for Damned 2:
Game tutorial for new Damned players.
Blight rework, making its gameplay more unique.
New puzzles to expand match variety.
New maps to explore and survive.
New Monster – a well-known character from Damned 1 will soon return to haunt your dreams.
We’re excited to see how you use this new mechanic, and as always, keep sending us your feedback!

Hello Everyone !
New update dropping later this week: the Blood Oracle. Survivors can now sacrifice the Heart at the altar to summon the Blood Whisper, which points toward the next missing item. It’s a way to help players when things stall, but still keep the tension high — since the monster can sense and hear those who carry the Heart.
On top of that, we’ve added the altar to all maps, introduced four new banners, and fixed a bunch of issues (including some nasty soft locks and object bugs a few of you reported).
