This update encompasses all your feedback and suggestions and I am eternally grateful for all the constructive feedback! These are some of the major things I added:
Crouch Slide
Grenade Ammo Indicator added at the bottom right next to the ammo counter
You now have access to all powers that you can select with a Power Wheel. You can still switch between your previous power and your current power by tapping the "Cycle Powers" button.
Aim down sights (only the sniper and rocket launcher that you will get in chapter 2 will have the zoom effect because they use scopes)
Removed the advanced weapons and balanced all the weapons accordingly
Changed the system to true first person (minus seeing your own legs) to make the camera a lot more animated (you can adjust the aggressiveness of the head bob in the settings)
blood effects have been increased
melee changed to a knife instead of a punch and it can now be used as a gameplay mechanic since I upgraded the damage
Removed the casting animation for the shield power to not disrupt the fast flow of the game
all weapons have reload animations now instead of placeholder ones!
The shotgun is now pump action, the shotgun does a lot more damage but it's firing rate is slower due to pumping before each fire. (Trust me it feels a lot more satisfying)
fov range is now 70->120
Gamepad Controller movement feels a lot more organic
Removed the infinite pistol (it was too weak and useless) and incorporated a new ammo pooling system that allows you to collect different types of ammo without needing the specific weapon in your inventory. This will allow the player to have a larger ammo pool that will rarely run out and if the player does, they can rely on melee to fight back and get more ammo from weapon drops.
Flashlight is now attached to the hip which I needed to do because when it was attached to the gun the flashlight was lowered while sprinting.
and more that I can't really think of right now haha. Hope y'all enjoy! I read the comments about improving the level design to be more dynamic and not just a mere corridor shooter so I am redoing a lot of Chapter 2 to include that type of level design vibe similar to F.E.A.R.! I also know the A.I. voices aren't good so I will be trying my best to recruit some family members and close friends to redo the voices and help with future ones. Hopefully they come through!
The bad news is that I had to completely change the inventory save system so y'all wont be able to continue from where you left off because all your guns and powers will be missing. Here is a save file of the last level with the new save system so y'all wont have to replay the whole game again! Your choices still remain intact so don't worry! The instructions for installing these save files are in the folder.

I'm about to start job hunting now so I won't be updating this game for a bit until I find something but trust me that Chapter 2 will be worth the wait! Thanks again for all the help and support, I appreciate you guys so much!!

Hey all y'all cool cats patiently waiting for the EA release! Sophonce (Version 0.310) is releasing next month on August 19th! There are a lot of updates and improvements to the game that have been made thanks to the community. I couldn't have been more grateful to you all for all the support and constructive criticism you have given me and I hope the improvements shown in Sophonce reflect my gratitude. The EA version will be released with just the Prologue and Chapter 1. This should take you around an hour or longer to complete depending on your skill level! You could always go back and replay the game with different choices to see different dialogue outcomes. The weight of your choices will become apparent in the later chapters though! The price will be 3.99 USD for the initial release and will increase as more content is added. There is around 1/3 of the content present in the EA version so that is why it is at a lower than expected price.
I plan to release Chapter 2 sometime late next year and Chapter 3 + the Epilogue should release the year after if everything goes smoothly with no delays! Chapter 2 is a lot more focused on horror with close combat action and Chapter 3 will have a mini open-world format so that players can fully explore Poseidon.
Here are some of the improvements:
Optimized the game to the best of my ability! I'm confident a lot of lower-tier GPUs (like a 4060) can run this game pretty well at around the 60 fps mark at 1440p with DLSS @ Quality. I also optimized the size of the game as well.
16:10 and 21:9 resolution support has been added in addition to the default 16:9 support.
DLSS 4 and FSR 3 have been added with their included frame-generation counterparts!
Updated the game from UE 5.1 to UE 5.5 which substantially mitigates a lot of the shader compilation stutters.
All gunplay has been tweaked based on feedback so now it should feel pretty solid. This includes the firing spread!
Melee and a weak pistol with infinite ammo have been added so if the player runs out of ammo they still have a way to fight back and subsequently get more primary ammo.
The game is also substantially more polished than its demo counterpart.
Fixed an army of bugs that I and others have found while playing.
Tweaked the difficulty to be more forgiving! I added a very hard difficulty called "Royal Protector" for anyone feeling confident to test their mastery of the combat system.
The game should feel awesome with the mouse and keyboard. I am still working on ironing out the controller mechanics but it is definitely fully playable. Hopefully, controller mechanics will be fully developed by the Chapter 2 update. I want the controller mechanics to feel as good as it does in Halo.
Those are all of the quality of life improvements I can think of from the top of my head. There are a lot more improvements/features that are unlisted but I will let the game do the talking instead :). I'll be busy wrapping things up until release but I will be checking this page regularly and try to get back to you all in a timely manner!

Hey y'all! The Sophonce Demo (Version 0.102) is back today for round two a little before Next Fest for the Press Preview and also to give everyone enough time to check out the demo. It will be live until June 18th so grab it while you can! I polished and made some optimizations / bug fixes that should make your experience with the demo a lot more pleasant. I decreased the size of the demo to around 13 GB as well.
Some things to note:

If you don't have a native 16:9 monitor you'll have to play windowed or fullscreen with black bars. Only 16:9 resolutions are officially supported now but for the EA release I should have 21:9 and 16:10 resolution support.
This game requires an SSD (even an external one will work great), as an HDD causes some pretty hefty load stuttering.
The game was designed with mouse + keyboard in mind so I would highly recommend you play using that combo. Controller mechanics are still not up to par yet but feel free to experiment to your heart's content.
