Trainz Plus & TRS22 SP7 Update Now Available
Today we're rolling out a brand-new update for both Trainz Plus and Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022.
This update introduces a range of new features, performance improvements, Living Railroad enhancements, Multiplayer Surveyor fixes, and hundreds of bug fixes and refinements across the Trainz experience.
Highlights
Living Railroad Passenger Operations
The biggest addition in this update is the next phase of Living Railroad.
Passenger operations are now supported, allowing Trainz to automatically discover passenger stations, generate passenger lines, dispatch trains, and manage passenger traffic throughout your routes. New tools and interfaces allow users to create, edit, and manage custom passenger lines while monitoring reliability and performance.
Automatic Runaround Support
Living Railroad trains can now automatically perform runaround manoeuvres when required, helping AI-operated trains avoid unrealistic reverse running and improving operational realism.
Expanded Imposter Rendering
The Imposter system has been expanded beyond foliage and now supports compatible scenery and building assets, providing improved rendering performance and efficiency when viewing large scenes at distance.
Multiplayer Surveyor Improvements
Multiplayer Surveyor continues to receive significant attention with fixes and enhancements to HD Terrain synchronisation, route sharing, permissions, dispatch management, package installation workflows, and overall reliability.
Surveyor & Content Manager Updates
This update includes new S20 tools with an update to S20 bulk replace and a new Inspect Baseboard making it easier to identify textures used in your route.
A Saved Game category has also been added to Content Manager type.
Additional Notes
Bug Alert
This release includes significant improvements to the underlying technology that will support future features and continued development of the Trainz platform. As part of those foundational changes, an unintended issue was introduced. The issue primarily impacts the flashing behaviour of certain visual effects, including level crossing lights and locomotive ditch lights, causing them to flash at incorrect speeds in some situations.
We've already identified and resolved the issue in our current development branch (SP8 Beta), which is currently available for beta testing. However, the fix relies on broader architectural changes and cannot be safely backported to this release without substantial engineering work. Attempting to do so would significantly delay the update.
Given the amount of time this release has already spent in development, we've made the decision to proceed while focusing our efforts on the next update.
